  • My FM goes live in Solapur

    Dainik Bhaskar Group’s radio division My FM has launched a new station in Solapur taking the count of its stations in Maharashtra to eight. It will soon be launching in Akola and Dhule as well.

     

    Of the 13 frequencies secured during phase III, nine were from Maharashtra, as My FM wanted to consolidate is presence in the state.

     

    Speaking at the launch, Harrish Bhatia, CEO, My FM said: “Solapur is another key market in our plan to consolidate our presence in Maharashtra, it is where the Real Maharashtra lies. Being a customer-centric organisation the team has invested a lot in getting to know the listener preferences through the campaigns, which will show in the results.”  My FM planned a high decibel pre-launch campaign as build up. The two-month campaign “AapkiMarzi” seeked public opinion of the city on how their own radio station should be in terms of music, humour, RJ Talk etc.

     

  • Sun Network, ENIL spend big in FM radio auctions

    With the 26-day second phase of the Phase 3 auctions for private FM radio having concluded on Monday (Feb 27),  Entertainment Network India Ltd (ENIL) Managing Director and CEO Prashant Panday said: “We are very excited with the results of the 2nd batch of auctions! Our 21 new cities give us depth in the most vibrant radio markets in the country. With this expansion, we’ll have 74 frequencies in 64 cities. We look forward to expanding more in the future. However only if the government amends the policy and makes the smaller stations viable.”

     

    The Sun Network’s Kal Radio and South Asia FM spent around Rs 80 crore in the second batch of Phase 3 auctions, while Radio Mirchi spent Rs 51-odd crore. Radio Mirchi acquired 21 cites.

     

    As many as 66 frequencies across 48 cities were auctioned netting the government a little over Rs 202 crore. On offer in this auction were 266 frequencies across 92 cities and towns.

     

  • My FM celebrates a decade in Chandigarh

    My FM completed a decade in Chandigarh on February 19 with a week-long festival, ‘DuskaJashan.’

    Speaking on the milestone, CEO Harrish Bhatia said: “My FM has come a long way in Chandigarh, from launch till date it is the most liked station of Tricity, the response has been overwhelming. To savour this achievement we hosted a weeklong celebration wherein we had celebrities performing everyday from Talk show to Music Night, from Comedy Night to DJ Night.”

     

    My FM rolled out a 360-degree marketing campaign across print, radio, online and OOH to announce the launch of the event.

     

     

  • Red FM launches new show across 21 cities

    Red FM launched a new showto “tackle their listeners’ Saturday night woes”. BDM (Bollywood Dance Music) with DJ Chetas has been launched across 21 markets (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Nasik, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Ahmadabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Bhopal, Indore Jabalpur, Jamshedpur, Bhubaneshwar) and will be aired between 9pm and 12midnight every Saturday.

     

    Talking about the show, Nisha Narayanan, COO, Red FM said:“India in three words is cricket, cuisine and cinema. And that Red FM believes in ‘Bajaao’ing Bollywood in more ways than one, needs no telling. So in that sense, ‘BDM with DJ Chetas’ is not just a new show or a smart pun; but rather the essential nutrition of rhythm and beat.”

     

  • My FM begins operations in Bikaner and Akola

    My FM, the radio division of Dainik Bhaskar group went on air in Bikaner and Akola last week. Akola is the last station launch of the network bid during the Phase III auctions and was extravagantly celebrated.

    Commenting on the launch, Harrish Bhatia, CEO, MY FM said: “By adding Bikaner, we have expanded our network further in Rajasthan, we were already the largest network and continue to enjoy the same. With Akola we complete our station launches acquired in the first batch of Phase III. With all the launches done, we are now the largest network of Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Rajasthan, Real Maharashtra, we have also strengthened our network in Gujarat with three stations in total now.” By ‘Real Maharashtra’, Bhaita we guess figures to the state except for Mumbai.

     

    Speaking further, Bhatia added, “Being a strong customer-centric organisation, we are committed to providing unique and engaging content to our listeners across these cities.”

     

     

  • 92.7 Big FM adds 14 new stations in one go

    92.7 Big FMhas launched the test signals of 14 new frequencies acquired recently. On April 1, the network went live with the test signals in one day.

     

    With the acquisition of these new frequencies, the radio network is moving from strength to strength with a total of 59 stations now. In Maharashtra, there will be an addition of five new stations (Pune, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Aurangabad and Ahmednagar), bringing it to a total of eight stations in the state. The network will enjoy complete coverage in UP, Bihar and Jharkhand, with the additions of Lucknow, Patna, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Muzaffarpur, bringing the total to 13 stations in the region.

     

    Additionally, Big FM will also increase its hold over Northeast India as the radio network will have the largest presence in border regions with new stations in Agartala, Itanagar, Shillong and Aizawl and existing stations in Jammu, Srinagar and Guwahati. With this the network ensures that it is present in all key cities and the state capitals in the North East.

     

    Commenting on the occasion, Tarun Katial, Chief Executive Officer, Reliance Broadcast Network Limited, said: “The launch of 14 new stations will further reinforce our position as leaders in the radio broadcast industry. This is a major step in expanding our presence in all our focus markets to ensure that we continue to grow in the space and deepen our market penetration.”

     

  • Radio Mirchi announces 15-min cap on inventory

    At the Radio Abby awards at Goafest last week, Radio Mirchi announced its plans to cap inventory on all its stations at 15 minutes per hour which is a significant reduction from the earlier 22 minutes of advertising per hour that would play. This initiative of reducing advertising on its stations has been taken keeping in mind the fact that the most common complaint radio listeners have against the medium is long ad breaks, notes a communique.Mirchi had already capped inventory on its newly launched stations at 10 minutes but this year it will roll it out to the older stations in its network as well, the release adds.

     

    Said Mahesh Shetty, Chief Operating Officer, Radio Mirchi:  “The Radio Abbys are a natural fit for the ‘Mirchi’ brand as this is a platform that recognises quality workdone in radio advertising. This year we are undertaking this initiative of decreasing inventory across our Mirchi stations. This will improve the listener experience and is better for the advertiser as well. Less clutter means their message will reach the consumer who has not tuned out!”

     

  • Big FM strengthens core leadership team

    Big FM has strengthened its core leadership team triggering a fresh era of growth for the company. Continuing her stint with BIG FM, Divya Singh has been elevated from her previous position and will take charge as the National Sales Head for key vertical, which includes Auto, Consumer Durables and Telecom sectors respectively. Dheeraj Goel joins Big FM as Regional Business Head, North & Rajasthan. Meanwhile, Rahul Saini has joined Big FM as Regional Business Head West. The new appointees will drive new strategic initiatives as part of their respective new roles in the organisation.

These include Ramgopal Iyer and Gaurav Shukla being elevated to the position of National Head – Account Planning and Regional Business Director, Delhi. Other key appointments include – Sunoj George Abraham and Harish Ravindranath, who have been welcomed in the positions of Cluster Head for Karnataka and Kerala and Station Head, Chennai.

  • Big FM expands base in Maha with Pune & four more

    Big FM has extended its reach in Maharashtra with with the launch of five new frequencies acquired in the first batch of FM Phase-III auctions, in addition to its existing two stations in Mumbai and Solapur. The new stations will operate under the frequency of 95.0 in Pune and 92.7 in Nagpur, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur and Aurangabad.

     

    Speaking about expanding its reach in the region with the new frequencies, a spokesperson from Big FM said: “By acquiring five new frequencies in Maharashtra, we are penetrating into key markets of one of the biggest states in the country, wherein our advertisers and stakeholders will be able to draw immense value by expanding their addressable communities. While the cities we are going to kick-start operations in are bound by a common flavor, we will try and localise our offerings to cater to the unique demands of each market, both from the listener and stakeholder perspective.”

     

  • Big FM announces now in Lucknow

    After acquiring 14 new frequencies in the first batch of FM Phase-III auctions, Big FM has now entered Lucknow with the launch of 94.3 FM. The radio network will bring in a new wave of timeless Hindi music in the city by building on its distinctive and pioneering retro format on radio. Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi launched the station earlier this week (May 23).
