Vedanta Resources has appointed Sukanti Ghosh as President of Global Policy & Communications, Chairman’s Office.
Notes a communique: “He joins Vedanta with extensive experience in global policy, business consulting, advocacy and strategic communications across the United States, India, the broader South Asia region, and the Middle East over the past 33 years. Notable amongst his former roles was his position as Senior Vice President and South Asia Practice lead at the Albright Stonebridge Group based in the United States and Managing Director of the India operations of APCO Worldwide. Earlier in his career, Sukanti held senior corporate affairs roles with Barclays Bank in India and BankMuscat in the Middle East.”
The newly elected governing body of Public Relations Society Delhi
The Public Relations Society Delhi (PRSD) announced its newly elected Governing Body at the association’s annual general meeting.
Sarvesh Tiwari has been elected as the Chairman of PRSD. Vipin Kharbanda, Vice President of Marketing at Divya Himachal Media Group, assumes the role of Vice Chairman. Gurmukh Singh Bawa, former General Manager (PR), AAI, takes on the responsibilities of Secretary. Rama Vijay, Former General Manager (Communications) at REC, has been appointed as Treasurer. Sanchit Sharma, Director of Critiquic Communications has been elected as the Joint Secretary.
Congratulating the newly elected members, SS Rao, Chief General Manager, of Power Finance Corporation (PFC) the outgoing Chairman of PRSD, said: “Congratulations to Sarvesh Tiwari and his team. I wish them all the best, and I am sure they will keep the flag of PRSD high.”
Market research body, Market Research Society of India (MRSI) has announced the launch of its now-annual industry sizing report titled ‘The Indian Research & Insights Industry 2023 Update’. As per the report, India’s market research and insights industry grew by 17.6% in FY2023 reaching USD 2.9 bn from USD 2.7 bn in FY2022. Currently at the third position globally, and ahead of China, India’s market research and insights industry is further expected to reach USD 3.4 Bn in 2024.
Notes a communique: “With a strong growth trajectory, supported with global confidence, India is considered a talent hub with strong analytics expertise. The growth witnessed aligns with the global research and insights industry, which posted a substantial 12% increase to reach USD 130 bn, over USD 118 bn in the previous year. Data analytics is the fastest-growing sector of the global insights industry in absolute terms.”
Speaking on the industry’s growth, MRSI President Paru Minocha said: “The Indian research and insights industry witnessed another year of significant growth, achieving a substantial size of USD 2.9 billion. This growth is a testament to India being the focus growth market for companies and the market research industry’s ability to navigate challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities to enable that growth. In addition, there is global confidence in India as a talent hub and as a market that is pivotal in offering valuable insights and research solutions.”

The BFSI, FMCG, Technology, and Healthcare sectors continue to contribute significantly to sectors growth and revenue. Air India, remember the airline which we would all once take, has started the rollout of its recently unveiled global brand identity across guest touchpoints, beginning with a full switch to the new look across digital and online channels and rebranding at Delhi and Mumbai airports.
The new identity, unveiled in August 2023, is centred around the ‘Vista’, Air India’s logo icon. Notes a communique: “The new look features Air India’s new brand colours, including Air India red, aubergine, rose gold, and accents of gold, as well as the extensive usage of customised iconography and a bespoke font, Air India Sans – all crafted to reflect a bold, modern, and world-class airline with an Indian heart.”

The Lexus Design Award India (LDAI) 2024 has announced its shortlisted designs. Among the six distinctive design categories, Industrial Design emerged as the frontrunner, closely followed by Furniture Design, reflecting the dynamic nature and broad appeal of the Lexus Design Awards.
This year’s competition, now in its seventh edition, continues to be a melting pot of visionary ideas that transcend boundaries and shape the future of design.
The entries were evaluated by a panel of jurors encompassing various creative realms such as art, architecture, fashion, and automotive industries.
Speaking on LDAI, designer and jury member Tarun Tahiliani said: “The Lexus Design Award India 2024 serves as a vital arena, pushing designers to break free from traditional norms. It’s not the first that mega-epic Ramayan is being aired on television. Various versions – in costume drama and animation – have been seen. Remember the lockdown when Doordarshan played a masterstroke by airing a rerun?
Well, this time, it’s Sony Entertainment Television that’s bringing to its screens (and streaming service Sony Liv) an all-new version of Ramayan. Called Shrimad Ramayan. Starting Monday, January 1, at the 9pm primetime slot.
Sony Entertainment Television has signed on Swastik Productions, a seasoned player with big bang mythologicals/historicals whose founder Siddharth Kumar Tewary had interestingly started his independent Swastik journey with Sony in 2007 (see interview from 2017).
So who’s playing Lord Ram? Actor Sujay Reu and Sita is Prachi Bansal. Amongst others in the cast: Nikitin Dheer as Ravan and Arav Chowdharry as Dashrath. Notes a communique: “The attention to detail in the costumes, a mega set design, and visual effects will further enhance the viewing experience, transporting the audience to the enchanting world of Ayodhya and Lanka.” Hmmm.
