  • Spotify announces its first national ad campaign in India

    By A Correspondent

Following all the fun banter around its launch campaign, ‘There’s A Playlist For That’, Spotify is now live with its first TV-led marketing campaign in the country.  Actors Anil Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar have been roped in to feature as key protagonists in the ad films and stills; the campaign also includes the use of other channels, including digital and OOH.

Said Amarjit Batra, Managing Director – India, Spotify: “Our insights highlight how music is an integral part of our users’ social and solitude experiences. Since our launch in India, we’ve engaged with our listeners based on how they experience music. The new campaign reinforces how seamlessly Spotify fits into their lives through availability of 50 million tracks, including the latest and most popular, access to 3 billion plus editorially, algorithmic and user-curated playlists, seamless integration across apps and hardware, and the ability to listen to music, regardless of what they’re doing – working out, cooking, or multi-tasking on their phone.”

Added Rajdeepak Das, Managing Director India & Chief Creative Officer South Asia, Leo Burnett: “The youth in India often deals with the pressures of judgement, individuality, social norms, and more; in this chaos, music acts as a companion. In this campaign, Anil Kapoor makes a cool dad, who even in his 60s, is as young and energetic as a 20 year old. Ishaan as the son, is India’s new generation – full of energy and optimism. We had a riot of fun creating this campaign with both the brand and creative teams and Shakun Batra, the director. You can see the energy, and feel the vibe in the ads. We are very proud of this campaign, and are sure it is going to do great for the brand”.

  • Saint-Gobain launches brand campaign to establish purity in glass

    By A Correspondent

Saint-Gobain has launched its latest brand campaign, highlighting the purity of its glass apart from clarity that it is already synonymous for.

Said AR Unnikrishnan, Director, Sales & Marketing, Saint-Gobain India Private Ltd. – Glass Business: “Saint-Gobain has been the frontrunner in glass business for over three centuries yet we are the most modern and technologically advanced in the business. Our Glass is known for its quality and clarity. Our previous campaigns, which focused on clarity, are still very relevant and have a strong brand recall. Now, with this campaign, we take it a step further by establishing the purity of the glass and we do it in a very creative way. The TV commercial begins as a horror story but ends being witty. It brings a smile across and leaves a deep impression on what we are trying to convey.”

Added Rajdeepak Das, Chief Creative Officer, South Asia, Leo Burnett: “The campaign is called ‘Subway Baby’ and it is made with a strong storyline. This campaign has been one of the most challenging yet fruitful experiences for me personally. We had to showcase a product that is actually not visible to anyone. We had to come up with an idea and a story which could bring this to the fore. That’s when we decided to add a story to the product with subtle humour where one can’t see the product but ultimately senses its presence. To make it impactful and to the point, the story went under several iterations. Even the casting was very unique as we had to tell the kid actor in the ad to stare straight at the camera rather than showing any emotions. This has been a fun and learning experience for me and my team. Hope the audiences enjoy this ad as much as we did in making it.”

  • MTV’s latest campaign urges viewers to vote

    By A Correspondent

Introspecting on the power of democracy. MTV has launched its election campaign urging the youth to vote, because they can.

Going beyond the portrayal of the stereotypical international youth in mainstream media, MTV decided to delve deep in the lives of young people from Somalia, Iraq, Syria, Sudan and North Korea, bringing home a message for the Indian youth – not everyone around the world is empowered to vote.

Commenting on the campaign created by Leo Burnett Orchard, Ferzad Palia, Head – Youth, Music & English Entertainment, Viacom18, said: “India’s youth has an influential role to play in determining its future. Ahead of the General Elections 2019, MTV is proud to raise a strong voice, urging the young Indians to exercise their power to vote. Moving beyond the realm of the ordinary, this campaign evokes strong emotions and compels us to reflect on the privileges that accompany our democratic powers.”

Speaking about the campaign, Rajdeepak Das, MD India and Chief Creative Officer Leo Burnett South Asia added: “Democracy is a choice we have, and it comes to life when you see people from different parts of the world who don’t have the freedom of democracy. To bring home this point, in this campaign for MTV we have taken a macro-view of democracy and juxtaposed it with people coming from war torn countries who have fled from their homes under great duress for safety and security. With the help of our Leo Burnett global offices we have actually managed to shoot in the war conflicted areas and portrayed the real-life situations to bring this campaign to life! It’s a true Humankind campaign. Democracy is our privilege and Leo Burnett Orchard and MTV urges everyone to go out and vote. Because you can.”

  • Leo Burnett India bags creative mandate of CarDekho.com

    By A Correspondent

Leo Burnett India has added another account to its client roster – CarDekho.com. The agency has also unveiled its new campaign titled “Chalao Apni”, with a renewed positioning that focusses on the car buying experience of the customer. Created by Leo Burnett, the campaign goes live on February 23. The five films focus on a lifestage that leads to car buying – marriage, career success, etc.

On winning the account, Dheeraj Sinha, Managing Director – India and Chief Strategy Officer – Asia, Leo Burnett, said: “The process of car buying is changing dramatically as we speak. While the manufacturers put out a lot of information on their car models, the big opportunity here is to map a car and its features to the needs of the people. CarDekho.com as a platform equips people with in depth knowledge and understanding about cars in general and the specific models, thereby making choices easier. As we move to a marketplace which is inundated with options, simplifying choice-making itself will be a big business. We are extremely excited to partner CarDekho in this journey. It’s a big opportunity to build a HumanKind brand here.”

Added Rajdeepak Das, Managing Director India, Chief Creative Officer South Asia, Leo Burnett: “Cardekho is a platform which connects the buyers with their dream cars. At Cardekho we believe there is nothing such as a “wrong car” but always the right car for you, and this is the platform we have built our campaign on – connecting people with their dream cars. This campaign is a fitting example to our HumanKind philosophy, which revolves entirely around people and purpose.”

Said Gaurav Mehta, CMO, Girnarsoft: “We at CarDekho understand that a car buyer’s connect with her/his car is not only functional but emotional as well.  Through our proprietary tech and editorial content solutions we empower the car buyers to choose the right car as per their need state. Leo Burnett understood these consumer dynamics almost instantly. And through this campaign, ‘Chalao Apni’, a colloquial term, has crafted with an attitude that appeals to one’s self, without alienating the social relationships. It is versatile enough to put the brand in the hand of the consumer even when they aren’t thinking of the category. I am confident about CarDekho’s and Leo Burnett’s synergy for creating more such user experiences that is educative and value adding for the car buyers and sellers in the third largest car market in the world.”

  • HDFC Life creates awareness on the need for regular health check-ups

    By A Correspondent

HDFC Standard Life Insurance has launched a new ad campaign highlighting the need for health insurance, by using a relatable analogy of ‘Liar Mirror’. The campaign that has been launched on the digital platform features celebrities who are real-life critical illness survivors.

Said Pankaj Gupta, Chief Marketing Officer, Strategic Alliances, Bancassurance & Specialty Sales, HDFC Life: “In India, we have become conscious of our diet and exercise regimen, but still have deep inertia when it comes to regular health check-ups. Non-communicable diseases are on the rise and we wanted to address this increasingly serious social issue, in the most realistic way. Hence, we used the testimonial approach and are delighted to be associated with Lisa & Suresh on this campaign. They are real fighters who have survived their respective challenges and emerged victorious, thereby resonating with our brand message of ‘Sar Utha ke Jiyo’. We urge people to not just believe what they see in the mirror, but also delve deeper and be #Ready2Fight.”

Added Rajdeepak Das, MD – India & CCO – South Asia, Leo Burnett: “It is a simple way to demonstrate what the truth is. When you look in the mirror every morning, you think everything is right but there are things happening that you cannot see. We are a Humankind brand and we wanted to solve a human problem – so people can realise the truth.”
