  • Big FM beefs up leadership team with new appointments

    Big FM has announced key appointments in leadership positions. Shipra Srivastava has come on board as National Marketing Head and Soela Joshi as Associate Vice President – IP.

     

    Speaking about the appointments, Asheesh Chatterjee, Chief Financial Officer, Big FM said: “We welcome Shipra Srivastava and Soela Joshi. We are confident of them adding immense value to the respective verticals by leveraging their expertise and contribute in fulfilling the goals of the organisation.”

    Said Srivastava on her new role: “Big FM has been able to effectively leverage its radio expertise to digital and deliver successful integrated campaigns. As the National Marketing Head, I am definitely looking forward to interacting and working with teams across regions and hope to continue the brand legacy and create many more impactful campaigns.”

     

    And this is what Joshi said in a statement: “I am looking forward to leading the regional content portfolio for Thwink, our recently launched content studio and talent incubator. As the business head, I will be working closely with the sales and Thwink team to build IPs across digital and radio.”

     

     

  • Sunil Kumaran back at Big FM as Country Head, Thwink Big

    Big FM has announced the appointment of Sunil Kumaran as Country Head, Thwink Big. Kumaran returns to Big to lead the network’s content studio and talent incubator, Thwink. His responsibility will involve scaling the group’s content studio business through development and creation of original content, talent incubation and strategic alliances.

    Speaking about the new appointment, Tarun Katial, CEO, Big FM said: “In his past association with us, which was close to eightyears, Sunil’s exceptional domain expertise and passion for content played a key in the networks growth. It gives me immense pleasure to welcome him back to the organisation where he will effectively be taking charge and fuel the growth of our Content Studio – Thwink Big.”

     

    Speaking about his role, Kumaran said: “It is an extremely exciting space and I look forward to taking the group’s vision on content forward with Thwink Big.  We already have a highly driven and experienced team in place and they have been producing some fantastic work for brand.  The effort now will be to scale this manifold through innovations, fresh ideas, talent and publishing partnerships.”

     

    Manish Karnatak, Head, Thwink BIG, and Soela Joshi, Associate Vice President – IP along with their teams will work closely with Kumaran to chart the progress of Thwink BIG.

     

     

  • Red FM relaunches 106.4 FM as Magic

    Remember 106.4 FM? The frequency for the retro-driven FM radio station from the Red FM stable? Well, Redtro 106.4 FM has now been relaunched as Magic 106.4 FM, and is, well, the latest radio station to hit the airwaves of Mumbai. Creating and building on the sentiment of ‘Jee Le Zara’, the aim, a communique notes, is to find some magic in the ‘khaamakha’ moments which is shedding the weight of the routine with a random act that’s unconditionally happy. It may be recalled Redtro 106.4 was launched in July 2016 as a retro channel for young adults with Cyrus Broacha hosting a two-hour weekend show.

  • Club FM engages its listeners with May or May not Contest

    Kerala’s leading radio station Club FM has introduced a listener-engagement exercise titled “May or May not”.  The contest will run in two parts five Club FM stations including Kochi, Thrissur, Kannur, Calicut, and Trivandrum till May 24.  The contest is promoted through all the platforms of Mathrubhumi and also in social media through Club FM Facebook page.

     

    Speaking on the occasion, M V Shreyams Kumar, Joint Managing Director – Mathrubhumi Group said: “Club FM has always been very steadfast and proactive when it comes to engaging our listeners, I am quite sure that this contest will attract a large number of people, which is indeed an epitome to what our radio station stands for”.

     

     

  • India Radio Forum held. Red FM wins Best Radio Network award

    India Radio Forum was held last week in Gurugram and a highlight of the event was the Excellence in Radio Awards (ERA). The show was opened by B Surendar, COO of Red FM Network followed by a panel discussion with Abraham Thomas of Radio City, DivyaKarani, CEO – Dentsu India and Rohit Upadhyay, MD & CEO, iBroad 7 Communication.

     

    This was followed by asession moderated by Naresh Gupta from Bang in the Middle along with Mausumi Kar, MD, GroupM India and Priti Murthy, CEO, OMD India.

     

    IRF 2018 also saw a conversation between radio expert Elliot Stechman of the AVC Group and Tapas Sen, Chief Programming Officer of Radio Mirchi. The concluding session was moderated by Rajat Uppal, National Marketing Head of Red FM, titled ‘Creating Brands and Sub-Brands in a Cluttered Space’RJ Malishka, Swaroop Banerjee of Tribe Asia, Joy Chouhan of JWT Delhi and Saahil Kumar of Sennheise.

  • My FM announces launch of new show, Chingum Boy

    My FM has brought on air its new show, ‘Chingum Boy’. The show will run in the new markets such as Bikaner, Hissar, Karnal, Aurangabad, Nasik, Jalgaon, Solapur, Sangli ,Dhule, Akola, Nanded and Ahmadnagar.

     

    Commenting on the initiative, Rahul Namjoshi, Business Head, My FM said: “Chingum Boy is tried and tested concept, it was a run-away success in our old markets. Looking at the success we now plan to launch it in the new markets. I am sure this naughty kid will spread laughter riot in these cities too”

     

    Added Vinay Manek, National Programming Head, My FM remarked, “Chingum Boy symbolises that affable kid we all have, within us. He is sweet, innocent but with a streak of mischief and we are guilty of curbing it for varied reasons. MY FM encourages in true spirit of ‘Jiyo Dil Se’ to unleash that kid. With ‘Chingum Boy’, our listeners will get an opportunity to play along and chuckle with the most beloved brat on radio. As Gulzar saab also said ‘Dil toh bachcha hai ji’- so don’t hold up and don’t stop having fun!”

     

     

  • Radiocity.in partners with Google AdWords for its digital offering

    Radio City’s digital arm, radiocity.in has strengthened its digital backbone by partnering with Google AdWords premier small and medium business partner programme and AdsWizz, the technology provider of advertising solutions for the digital audio industry. The exclusive radio partnership with Google will provide small and medium businesses, a holistic digital media strategy and create new revenue streams for Radio City, a press release notes.

     

    Said Abraham Thomas, CEO, Radio City: “Online audio advertising has been consistently growing with the increasing popularity of online audio consumption.Radio City’s strategic alliances with two powerhouses of the digital advertising space will help us accelerate our digital first approach. The partnerships will drive synergies with our customers and enable digital audio advertising transactions to flow seamlessly between buyers and sellers. Our partnership with technology based services will also simplify and quicken the entire process of buying and selling ads, thereby benefiting all the stakeholders.”

  • Tarun Katyal is back at Big FM. Note: Katyal, not Katial

    Big FM has appointed Tarun Katyal as Business Head – Metros. After his successful stint of two years at the organisation (2014-2016), Katyal rejoins the Big network to lead business associations for key markets and scale up the inventory. He will report to Asheesh Chatterjee, Chief Financial Officer, Reliance Broadcast Network Limited.

     

    Speaking about the appointment, Chatterjee said: “We are positive that Tarun will steer the vertical to build lucrative business partnerships in key regions and add to the network’s ‘Shared Purpose’ strategy.”

     

    Speaking about his role, Katyal said: “Big FM’s working culture has always been a positive ground to explore and cultivate one’s strengths to the maximum. I feel great to be a part of the network again. I look forward to working towards developing and strengthening productive business partnerships across regions along with the team.”

     

    Meanwhile on the Katial with the ‘I’, he has taken charge as CEO at Zee5, though an official communique hasn’t been issued on it. Also, the announcement on the new CEO hasn’t been made it though there are rumours of a senior telecom marketer being considered for the role.

     

     

  • My FM wins a Bronze at New York Festival Awards

     

     

    My FM has won a Bronze for Maango Haq Se activity under the Health/Medical category. My FM ran a campaign wherein it encouraged menstruating women of all sections to use sanitary napkins and not resort to unhygienic alternatives like a strip of cloth or other materials. The campaign aimed at addressing the taboo around periods and ignorance about using sanitary napkins in the less privileged strata of the society.

     

    Commenting on the initiative, Rahul Namjoshi, Business Head, My FM said: “This is the third year in a row that our initiatives have been appreciated at New York Festival. At My FM our endeavour has been to create activities for listeners that create a social impact and benefit the entire community.”

     

     

  • Club FM 94.3 bags Gold at New York Festivals Award

    Club FM 94.3 has bagged a gold award at New York Festivals International Radio Program Awards.

     

    The radio network won a Gold for its campaign “Kuzhi Map” (pot-holes map) under Public Service announcement promotion and two finalist certificates for Vinodinde Prathikaram (Vinod’s revenge) under Craft and Dim Light under Public Service Announcement Promotion categories.

     

    Said MV Shreyams Kumar, Joint Managing Director, Mathrubhumi Group: “For Club FM to be honoured with a gold award amidst wide international competition is truly an honour. The win is a testament not only to the collective output of our radio stations but also to the broad appeal and quality of our programming.   • Big FM celebrates five years of ‘Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor’

    Big FM’s longest running show, ‘Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor’ completed five years on June 24 and to celebrate the occasion, the radio network hosted a Facebook Live session with Kapoor icon who addressed his fans while reminiscing his remarkable journey so far. A special show was also conducted where Annu Kapoor was seen interacting with young budding singers sharing meaningful insights on the art of music.

     

    Speaking on the occasion, a Big FM spokesperson said: “Suhaana Safar With Annu Kapoor has received a wide acceptance since its inception, and is rated as the No 1 radio show. Annu Kapoor’s profound knowledge and penchant towards Hindi cinema has led to its success and earned credibility amongst listeners.   • Red FM launches in Dehradun

    This one is specially for our friend, star columnist and Consulting Editor Ranjona Banerji, our friends Gurbir Singh who hails from the Uttarakhand capital and senior ad professional and educator Vikas Mehta (who like Banerji, now lives there) and our former colleague Shubhangi Mehta who hails from the city: 93.5 Red FM has launched its new station in Dehradun. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat was present at the station launch celebrating along with the Red FM team.

     

    Speaking about the launch, Nisha Narayanan, COO, Red FM said: “We are extremely excited to launch the first FM station in Dehradun. In line with our Phase III launch, the expansion is a strategic endeavour to tap into newer markets.  With Dehradun we launched our 66th Station and strengthen our foothold further in the northern part of India.”
