  • Radio City culminates initiative to save water in Eastern markets

    Owing to the major water crisis plaguing the country, Radio City in association with Sunday-Mid-day initiated ‘Bucket Sundays’ campaign to address the issue of increasing scarcity of water. The campaign urged Mumbaikars to use only one bucket of water every Sunday instead of taking a shower to avoid excess wastage of running water.

     

    Following suit, Radio City in association with inext extended the initiative to Uttar Pradesh, Eastern markets with ‘Ek Balti Sunday’ – Iss baar kasam khao, har Sunday sirf ek Balti paani se nahao’ campaign.

     

    Speaking about the initiative, Kartik Kalla, Chief Creative Officer, Radio City, said: “We at Radio City have always been the forerunners in addressing issues that plague the city and its citizens. Water scarcity is one of the major issues that country is currently battling and as a mass platform, Radio City took up the mantle to bring about a change with ‘EK Balti Sunday’ and ‘Bucket Sundays’ campaigns. By extensively and aggressively promoting the campaigns on-air, on-ground, in print and on digital platforms, 1,07,58,400 liters of water was successfully saved in just four weeks. This incredible feat is a testimony to our belief that initiatives like these will go a long way in bringing about the change we are waiting to see in our society, and it makes us really glad to see the impact created by these campaigns.”

     

     

  • Radio City’s ‘Jal Thal Vayu’ campaign pays tribute to unsung heroes

    On the occasion of Republic Day, Radio City announced the launch of its latest campaign, ‘Jal Thal Vayu’ to honour the legacy and bravery of the Indian armed forces. Through this two-week long campaign, Radio City’s RJ Ginnie, RJ Divya, RJ Yuvi, RJ Aadi and RJ Manav will highlight emotional and inspiring stories of India’s brave sons across all three pillars of the armed forces – Navy, Army and Air-force.

     

    The campaign will be replicated across Radio City stations in Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and Jharkhand.

     

    Commenting on the launch of the campaign, Kartik Kalla, Chief Creative Officer, Radio City said: “Radio City’s #JalThalVayu is a tribute to all our soldiers, and our way of showcasing an undivided support for the armed forces.   • Ashit Kukian takes over as CEO of Radio City

    Ashit Kukian has taken charge as CEO of Radio City. This follows the exit to Abraham Thomas who has moved on to pursue other business interests.

     

    Kukian was the COO of the company till 2015. And has previously worked with various organisations including Berger Paints, Garnier, Johnson and Johnson etc. He will report to Apurva Purohit, Director and Mentor of the Company.

     

     

  • Radiocity.in partners with Google AdWords for its digital offering

    Radio City launchec its 52nd web radio station , Radio City Love Guru Bhojpuri, a dedicated web radio station doling out love advice in Bhojpuri. Yes, we got the number right: 52nd web radion station. It was by Bhojpuri star Ravi Kishan.

  • Radio City acquires ABP’s Friends FM

    Music Broadcast Limited (MBL) has announced that its board has approved the acquisition of the radio division of Ananda Offset Private Limited by way of slump sale. The transaction allows MBL to enter into the Kolkata market and partner Friends FM which has been in the market for over a decade.

     

    Under the terms of the agreement MBL will acquire 100 per cent ownership of the radio division of AOPL, subject to MIB approval. The transaction is by way of slump sale on a going concern basis.(Slump sale means transfer of one or more undertakings as a result of the sale for a lump sum consideration, without values being assigned to the individual assets and liabilities: caindia.com)

  • Radio attracts second highest ad attention, notes MBL-Nielsen study

    In terms of ad effectiveness, radio ads are the second-most effective in driving purchase intent, with TV being the most effective medium. This and some other findings have been produced in a recent research report commissioned by Music Broadcast Ltd (Radio City), and titled “Power of Radio”.

     

    The report conducted by Nielsen India on behalf of Radio City surveyed a sample comprising working males, females, homemakers and students between the age of 18-45 from multiple income groups, demographics and listen to the radio at least once a week. Among other findings, the report highlights the efficacy of radio in its role in driving purchase intent among females, 25+ individuals and NCCS (New Consumer Classification System) B & C.

     

    Commenting on the report, Apurva Purohit, President, Jagran Prakashan and Director Music Broadcast Ltd. Said: “In India, radio was largely limited to state programming until the 1990s but with the private sector entering the industry, it has grown exponentially over the last decade or so. The industry clocked an 18% growth compared to other markets in 2016 and with the Phase 3 expansion into new geographies increasing FM’s reach dramatically, the industry will only grow faster in the years to come.The findings of the study cement our belief in the power of radio, and I firmly believe that radio will re-emerge as a formidable choice for advertisers. The medium’s demonstrated ability to strike a personal connect with users, and the fact that it is seen as the most trusted medium and credible for information is heartening to see.”

    Radio City has announced the launch of its web platform radiocity.in Hindi, becoming the first and only radio network in India to offer an exclusive Hindi website. Radio City was the first radio network In India to take the digital route with the launch of radiocity.in.

     

    Said Abraham ‘Abe’ Thomas, CEO, Radio City: “Regional language internet users have been growing at a much faster pace than English with 38 per cent of the total Indian internet user base expected to comprise of Hindi users by 2021.
