  • Ad Club re-elects Partho Dasgupta as President

    Advertising, marketing and media industry’s body – The Advertising Club has announced the Managing Committee for 2020-21 at its 66th Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday. Partho Dasgupta has been re-elected to lead the body. Under his leadership, in the past one year, TAC has covered new grounds especially in the area of learning and development, notes a communique. He has also come out in support of the industry in these unprecedented times by proactively refunding entry fees for the ABBY Awards 2020.

     

    Speaking about the re-appointment, Dasgupta has said: “It has been an honour to serve and be re-elected as the President of one of the most prestigious Advertising Clubs in the country, and I am truly humbled by the faith and trust that my Industry peers and seniors have bestowed upon me. This is a difficult year for all of us and I look forward to doing our best for the Club in the forthcoming year. As expressed in the beginning of the year, the committee has gone beyond our Marquee events and tried to do new things this year. Initiatives like Leadership Development Programme is something we would like to push forward this year too.”

  • Ad Club & MICA announce data science programme

     

     

    The Advertising Club and MICA has announced a Leadership Development Programme on ‘Data Science in Strategic Marketing & Management’ is aimed at driving learning and effectiveness in the category. Supporting the communication efforts of this initiative is Dentsu Webchutney, the Dentsu Aegis Network agency which has come on board as Creative Partner.

     

    Speaking about the partnership, Partho Dasgupta, President, The Advertising Club: “The current global landscape has been challenging and every business strategy had to be adapted to the new digital order. In such a scenario it is critical that the young minds in the category upskill and are aligned to meet the changing demands of the advertising and marketing landscape – data analytics being one such important and defining marketing metric. The program curated in association by MICA and delivered by category thought leaders will play a key role in allowing young minds from the industry to develop an appreciation of the applications of big data analytics in marketing. It will aid in learning tools required to solve marketing problems through data science.”

  • Advertising Club & MICA ink partnership to upskill professionals

    The Advertising Club and MICA – School of Ideas have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to to drive upskilling and enhanced learning opportunities for A&M industry persons. The MoU was signed Partho Dasgupta, President, The Advertising Club and Preeti Shroff, Dean at MICA.

     

    Said Dasgupta:  “The global Advertising and Marketing landscape has been continuously evolving – contemporary aspects like digital and social communication is center stage now. Like Advertising, analyzing consumer data and using it for profiling and recommendation is mainstream now with the success of Facebook, Netflix, Amazon etc. The association with MICA is critical in our effort to ensure that the category and its patrons continue to stay ahead of the curve and in tune with evolving trends that are currently driving the category, and will define its future growth trajectory.   • Ad Club’s announces interactive digital debate series titled ‘Vice & Versa’

    The Advertising Club has announced a digital debate series titled Vice & Versa. Moderated by Agnello Dias, Creative Chairman – Dentsu Aegis Network & Founder, Taproot Dentsu, the debate will see industry veterans Santosh Desai, CEO, Future Brands and Josy Paul, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer, BBDO India. The first debate in the series will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 6.15 pm. The live streaming will be done on Zoom, Youtube and Facebook.

     

    The theme of the firset debate is Brand Purpose – Responsible Or Opportunistic. Speaking about the debate series, Partho Dasgupta, President, The Advertising Club said: “These are unprecedented times requiring all brands and organizations to adapt and reinvent their media and brand strategies.  The digital debate series has been curated to provide insights and guidance on how to empower brands to thrive in the new normal.   • Reminiscing the BARC set-up days

    Over the last five-odd years MxMIndia would’ve done over a hundred-odd stories on television audience measurement and central to all of them was Partho Dasgupta, former CEO of BARC India.

     

    Dasgupta joined BARC in June 2013 and in November last year handed over operations to his friend and former colleague, Sunil Lulla.

     

    He is now using his experience and learnings to various places in the world, setting up BARC-like entities as an expert. He is also consulting broadcast and new media companies as a management consultant. And overseeing performance management. He of course continues to be President of the Advertising Club.

     

    Earlier this week, we interviewed Sunil Lulla, CEO, BARC India on the eve of its fifth anniversary. We now speak with Partho Dasgupta, the former CEO of BARC India and get him to reminisce the days before operations began on April 29, 2015.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

  • Goafest announces jury for Red Abby

    The Advertising Club and the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) announced the names of the jury for ‘The Red Abby’ award which will be presented as a part of Goafest 2020.  ‘The Red Abby’ awards have been instituted to acknowledge the best creative works that address the issue of violence against women in society.

     

    The jury for the Red Abby Awards include some of the foremost leaders from across the FMCG, advertising, media, creative and entertainment industry.

The esteemed jury of ‘The Red Abby’ comes from a diverse background with rich experience in their respective industries. Their collective experience will make the evaluation process robust and fair, while adjudging the works’ impact.”

     

    Speaking about the jury, Sonia Huria, Managing Committee Member of The Advertising Club and Evangelist – ‘The Red Abby’ added: “At the heart of a successful campaign is the impact it made. In case of ‘The Red Abby’ the impact will be basis the effectiveness of the behaviour change messaging of the campaign. With such an esteemed jury for its maiden edition, we are sure that the best-in-class works will find their right place in the Abby Awards Hall of Fame.”

  • Goafest to highlight women’s issues with Red Abby

    The Advertising Club and the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) have come together to launch a communication programme that will address the issue of violence against women in society. The special campaign will be a part of the upcoming edition of Goafest 2020. The winning campaign will be crowned with the newly instituted special award ‘The Red Abby’ that celebrates the woman and her spirit.

     

    Speaking about the initiative, Ashish Bhasin, President – AAAI, said: “Violence against women is an issue that has been a significant area of concern. It is critical that we as an industry that is responsible and renowned for driving awareness and building perceptions, use our collective capabilities for the betterment of society. We hope that this initiative will help us put together a high impact campaign that will empower women and help change mindsets.”

  • Joint Agency & Client of the Year at Effie 2020

    The Big Boys of adland were in attendance till the very end. Leaving many in the audience wondering what the outcome was going to be. Piyush Pandey and Prasoon Joshi and almost their entire top decks of Ogilvy and McCann were in attendance.

    And finally when emcee announced that it was a joint winner, there was an uproar. And relief in some quarters. Both Ogilvy and McCann were doing fairly well in awards announced and it was difficult to determine right till the end on who the winner would be.

    The Effie Awards of the Advertising Club India was held with much fanfare on Friday in Mumbai. Hindustan Unilever Limited and Star India Pvt Ltd were adjudged joint winners as Effie Client of the Year, while McCann Worldgroup India and Ogilvy Group were named Effie India Agency of the Year.  The coveted Grand Effie was won by the EightyTwo Point Five Communications for the Bisleri Packaged Drinking Water – “Samajhdar Jante hai”.

    Speaking about winning at the coveted Effie, Partho Dasgupta, President of The Advertising Club said: “I would first like to congratulate all the winners of the awards. Winning an Effie has always been a matter of great pride for every marketer and each of the winners are truly deserving of this recognition.   • Effie India 2020 on Jan 10 in Mumbai

    The Advertising Club (TAC) India is set to host the upcoming edition of the Effie India Awards 2020. The awards have garnered significant industry patronage by receiving 862 entries. As many as 326 industry leaders and professionals were part of the 10 judging rounds held across three cities – Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. The awards event will be held in Mumbai on Friday, January 10.

     

    Said Mitrajit Bhattacharya, Chairperson of Effie Committee: “With a record number of entries received, this year has been the best for Effie India in terms of participation. The Effie 2020 by adding new categories, bringing sharper definitions to existing categories, introducing new judging guidelines and having a separate jury for judging the coveted Grand Effie have helped evolve the highly coveted awards into an award with more structure and relevance, in lines with the Global Effie awards.”

  • Ad Club’s Marquees 2019 recognises best in marketing

    The Advertising Club presented the winners of the third edition of marketing awards Marquees 2019. Presented at the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, formerly the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India, the entries at this year’s Marquees were judged by industry stalwarts like  Harsh Goenka, Chairman – RPG Enterprise along with  category leaders like Neil George, Managing Director – NIVEA India Private Limited; Agnello Dias,  CCO & Co-Founder – Taproot Dentsu; CVL Srinivas, Country Manager, India – WPP and Naveen Chopra, Senior Advisor – TPG Capital India Pvt.   • 8 Days to Go!

    Yes, the day is drawing closer. Just eight months to go for the 2019 MxMIndia Mediaperson of the Year award. The selection process has been done. We have had five rounds of shortlisting and now are waiting to see if a new star emerges over the next few days.

     

    As MxMIndia readers are aware, over the last few years, the MxMIndia Mediaperson of the Year has earned the reputation of being one of the more credible barometers of the highest performer(s) in the fields of advertising, media and marketing in a calendar year.

     

    Last year’s winner of the accolade was Piyush Pandey on his rise and rise in the global creative world. In 2017, it was Arnab Goswami for the launch of Republic TV. In 2016, we had Dentsu Aegis Network South Asia CEO Ashish Bhasin and for 2015 it was the BARC India core team of Punit Goenka, Shashi Sinha and Partho Dasgupta.
