  • Himanshu Saxena joins McCann Worldgroup as EVP & Mumbai Head

  • Coca-Cola takes its ‘Share a Coke’ proposition further with Ranbir Kapoor

    Coca-Cola India has taken the ‘Share a Coke’ campaign further with #SayItWithCoke. The cola has signed Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor as the new brand ambassador for the campaign.

  • Prasoon Joshi to be jury prez at Adfest 2019

    Adfest has announced that Prasoon Joshi, CEO and Chief Creative Officer of McCann Worldgroup India and Chairman of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific, will be Jury President at Adfest 2019 for the Audio Lotus and Film Lotus categories. Joshi is the only Indian jury president at Adfest 2019 (to be held in Thailand from March 20 to 23).

     

    Said Joshi: “I’m delighted to be overseeing two of Adfest’s most intriguing categories: Audio, which in the midst of a major revival, and Film, which reflects the richness of local cultures in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions.   • McCann is #1 at Effies, again

    It was the night when the McCann Worldgroup flag was flying high. Yet again. McCann took home the Agency of the Year title by a comfortable 34 points. Ogilvy was runner-up, but a big consolation for theme would be the winning of the coveted Grand Effie for Fevikwick. Hindustan Unilever was Client of the Year. Interestingly, Saregama was runner-up in the Client of the Year roster albeit at nearly half the points as HUL. Vodafone was #3 and last year’s Client of the Year, Paytm (One97 Communication) was #4.

     

    Interestingly, Hindustan Unilever was #6 on the Agency of the Year roster, having had to send in the entries since its creative agency chose to stay away.

     

    The evening saw a record attendance, and was run efficiently. Like Advertising Club events are. However, many agency biggies – including some from runner-up Ogilvy – were conspicuous by their absence.

     

    Speaking about winning at the Effies, Vikram Sakhuja, President of The Advertising Club and Chairperson, Effies said: “Effies continues to have a place off pride and eminence in the life of every marketeer and advertiser. Winning an Effie is a career milestone and is reflective of the campaign’s innovation, execution efficiency and communication impact.   • McCann Worldgroup bags most wins at WARC Awards 2018

    McCann World Group India is the most awarded Indian agency at the Global WARC Awards 2018. The WARC Awards 2018 were given across categories Effective Content Strategy, Effective Social Strategy, Best use of Brand Purpose & Innovation shortlisted from Global case studies.

     

    McCann Worldgroup picked up five awards including two golds, one silver and two bronze awards. It won gold in the Innovation category for its campaign IDFC – Bank in a Box.

  • India accumulates 18 shortlists at the 45th Annual One Show

    Agencies in India have 18 finalists entries for the 45th annual One Show, as announced by The One Club for Creativity. McCann Worldgroup India, Mumbai leads the way with 10 finalists, including seven with McCann Health, Delhi for Ministry of Public Health, Afghanistan “The Immunity Charm”. Hindustan Petroleum has five finalists for its “Roads That Honk” campaign.

     

    Agencies in India with one finalist each are Ogilvy & Mather, Mumbai for RNW Media “#NotMusicToMyEars”, FCB India, Mumbai for Times of India “Shindoor Khela – No Condition Apply” and Famous Innovations, Mumbai for CaratLane “The Personalised Ring Box That’ll Get You a Yes”.

     

    This year’s One Show has 1,643 finalists representing 42 countries, selected from 19,800 total entries.  The US has the most finalists with 669, followed by the UK with 117, Japan with 94, Canada with 86, Germany with 78, Brazil with 70, France with 65 and Australia with 59.

     

     

  • Social Street stars at Abby Awards

    It was a special Day 3 at Goafest 2018 with The Social Street emerging at the top of its game with a total of 17 metals in the Creative Abbys. The agency has bagged many metals across virtually all categories at the Abby Awards 2018. The agency’s captains – Pratap Bose and Mandeep Malhotra and the entire contingent wearing red turbans – had ensured they made a significant impact at the Awards for the second consecutive year. Last year, they were second to Taproot Dentsu in the awards tally. Branded Content and Entertainment Abbys saw Medulla WYP Network winning the most with four metals including two golds. DentsuWebchutney took home eight metals in the Digital and Mobile Abby category. But the biggest applause of the evening went to none other than Early Man Film Pvt. Ltd. for its outstanding work in the category of Audio Visual Long Form for Reforest India – The Story of Kaveri.

     

    Earlier McCann Worldgroup India CEO and Chairman, McCann Eriksson APAC Prasoon Joshiwas felicitated with a special award. Recognizing his unparalleled contribution to the world of Indian media, the special award is a reaffirmation of the advertising fraternity’s confidence that he will take the power of creativity further and make it a part of the things that matter in a new and resurgent India.

     

    On Day 2 of the Abby Awards, the Broadcaster, Public Relations, Still Craft, Video Craft, Design and Direct Abby were awards. The awards celebrate the best-in-class creative geniuses and works of stellar significance in creativity. While Sony Pictures Networks led the tally for the Broadcaster Abbys with six metals, it was ZEEL that took home the gold for the night. While Design Abbys showed favour to Open Strategy and Design with six metals including 1 gold; Pi Communications took home 4 metals where Direct Specialist Abbys were concerned. While a total of 13 golds were handed out to top honours in Public Relations amongst other metals, it was Value 360 Communications that ate into the pie with a total of 8 metals. Still Craft Abbys saw dominance by The Social Street who grabbed 4 metals including 2 gold. Early Man Film Pvt. Ltd., took home a whopping 16 metals in the Video Craft Specialist category which included 5 golds, 4 silvers and 7 bronzes!

  • 20k McCann-ers take to streets to discover consumer truths

    As part of a global research initiative, McCann Worldgroup has enlisted all of its employees around the world to leave their desks for a day and head to the streets in their local markets to meet with and interview people face-to-face to gain insights into their shopping behaviour and their relationship to cultural values. This new “Truth About Street” study will involve roughly 20,000 McCann Worldgroup employees in more than 100 countries.

     

    Said Luca Lindner, McCann Worldgroup President: “This is the first time that we have galvanised our entire employee base to help us develop in-depth insights about local culture and its connection today to brand attitudes and shopping behaviour.   • McCann wins a Grand Clio for Afghan campaign

    McCann Worldgroup India became the only agency ever to win a Grand Clio from India at the Clio awards presented last night. This was awarded for the campaign titled Immunity Charm done for Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health in the category Product Design. Other than this, McCann also won 3 Golds, 2 Silvers, 2 bronzes and 1 finalist place.

  • Day 2 @ CannesLions2017: India wins 7 metals incl 2 Golds…

    It was a mixed Day 2 for the Indian contingent at Cannes Lions. Seven metals in PR, Outdoor, Promo & Activation and Glass Lions categories including two Golds. But no metal in Print & Publishing.

     

    In Outdoor, Ogilvy bagged a Gold for ITC’s Savlon Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks while McCann Worldgroup India won a Silver for Cat, Dog and Rabbit – for World for All.

     

    L&K Saatchi&Saatchi Mumbai missed the Grand Prix that India has been winning over the last two years but bagged a Gold for its #GiveHer5 campaign of the Ammada Trust.

     

    Ogilvy bagged a Gold and a Bronze in PR for Savlon Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks, and BBDO India took home a Silver for #ReleaseThePressure created this year for soft drink Mirinda.

     

    Ogilvy also won the solitary metal in Promo and Activation Lions – a Bronze in this case.

     

    The big downer of the day was a no show in Print and Publishing and also misses for some campaigns that many thought would definitely win more than just a shortlist.

     

  • American Tourister highlights can-do attitude of young India in new campaign

    The international travel gear giant American Tourister has launched its latest campaign ‘I’m Ready’ featuring ace cricketer Virat Kohli. Speaking about the new TVC, Anushree Tainwala, Executive Director, Marketing, Samsonite South Asia Pvt. Ltd. Said: “We are excited to launch our new campaign capturing the pulse of the country today with our first Indian brand ambassador Virat Kohli. The campaign captures India’s exuberance and attitude of being ready always for anything.”

     

    Global youth icon and cricketer, Virat Kohli said in a statement, “I am excited to be associated with American Tourister. Great travel gear is more than just a utility or luggage, it symbolises an attitude – to be always ready to step out and embark on your journey with profound confidence. This thought has been reinforced through this campaign which has beautifully captured the true spirit of the Indian youth.”

     

    The concept is created by McCann and is moulded into a 360-degree campaign, including a TVC with multiple sequences. In a subtle manner, the TVC showcases what the backpacks provide to the user– the perfect balance of hands-free mobility and comfort.

     

    Commenting on the campaign, Pradyumna Chauhan, National Creative Director, McCann Worldgroup India shared, “The film creates a great visual journey of ‘I’m ready’ with Virat as he goes on to knock the ball with the bat totally unfazed through various barriers. Given its watchability, we are sure it will deliver the ‘I’m ready’ theme for American Tourister brilliantly.”
