  • TBWA\Mumbai appoints Abhijit Dube as GM

     

     

    Abhijit Dube has joined TBWA\Mumbai as General Manager with immediate effect. Reporting to CEO Govind Pandey, Dube will be responsible for driving growth for the agency and its clients.

     

    Said Govind Pandey, CEO TBWA\India, “Abhijit’s appointment is key to TBWA\Mumbai operation, which shift to a more focused, less traditional, Digital First model.  His appointment adds further depth to a strong team of extremely talented individuals who are agents for change.”

     

    Dube was until recently senior vice president at Lowe Lintas where he was responsible for managing the global portfolio of Lifebuoy Soap, where he lead the global roll-out for the brand’s most recognised communications. He also led the Saffola, Pepsi, Horlicks, Nourischo and MTS accounts.

     

  • Datsun redi-GO campaign targets young aspiring Indians

     

     

    Datsun India announced the start of the ‘Ready India’ campaign to celebrate the launch of the Datsun redi-GO, India’s first urban cross vehicle. The ‘Ready India’ campaign will feature a television commercial aimed at inspiring up-and-coming young risers, to stimulate change in their world view by looking at it from a new perspective.

     

    Speaking on the launch of the campaign, Arun Malhotra, managing director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd., said, “With the launch of the Datsun redi-GO, we are striving to redefine the entry-level car segment in India. To reinforce redi-GO’s positioning in the marketplace, we are today announcing the launch of the ‘Ready India’ campaign. The focus of this campaign is to directly connect with the brand’s target audience – the young risers.”

     

    The new television commercial is aimed at connecting with young Indians through its lively music and catchy lyrics. Leading artists from Bollywood contributed to the creation of the TVC, which goes live today on leading television channels. Popular including popular music director Ram Sampath, who composed the music for the commercial while Sona Mohapatra contributed by lending her iconic voice for the campaign.

    The new campaign will resonate with the preferences of young Indians, with its modern look and feel, exciting performances, and a free spirit/go anywhere vibe. Redi-GO’s modern and distinctive styling is highlighted by brave and bold ‘YUKAN’ design elements, which reflects the discerning demands of the young generation. It features ‘tall-boy’ styling offering best-in-class ground clearance of 185 mm, along with extra roominess and excellent external visibility for the driver. It also features daytime running lights and a driver-side airbag on the top variant.

     

  • TBWA\India emphasises focus on Disruption

    Troy Ruhanen, president and chief executive officer, TBWA\Worldwide and Philip Brett, president, TBWA\Asia, presented the agency’s vision around Disruption® and Disruption®LIVE, sharing some impactful, business-changing ideas from across the agency network.

     

    Ruhanen, who made his first visit to India since joining TBWA\ as global President and CEO, spoke of the importance of the India market to the agency globally, and the focus on growing the India operations around the Disruption® practice.

  • Partha Sinha quits Publicis to join McCann. Like Maggi 🙂

    Publicis Worldwide Managing Director Partha Sinha is moving on. To join McCann Worldgroup, reportedly as Vice Chairman and reporting in to Prasoon Joshi, CEO of McCann Worldgroup India and Chairman (Asia Pacific).

     

    Although Sinha said there was no such development when MxMIndia spoke to him last Friday, according to a senior McCann official, the news is confirmed.

     

    Interestingly, Sinha had just been made Managing Director of the Publicis Groupe agency in July this year two years after he and Bobby Pawar joined theagency. Earlier this year, there were murmurs that Pawar too was quitting, a move that was rubbished by all.

     

    As reported on Tuesday, McCann COO Govind Pandey has moved to TBWA India as CEO.

     

    According to the information received, the news of Sinha’s joining McCann will be made official later today or this week after some key clients of Publicis have been informed of the development.

     

    Interestingly, Maggi, the brand whose strategy Sinha would oversee at Publicis, has moved to McCann until further notice.

     

  • Govind Pandey to join TBWA\India as CEO

    Govind Pandey, who was COO of McCann Worldgroup India until recently, will be the new CEO of TBWA\India.

     

    Pandey, who has had a 13-odd-year run at McCann was earlier with Ogilvy & Mather, JWT/Contract and Lowe after a PDGDM from IIM Bangalore.

     

    TBWA Group India has been helmed by Vineet Bajpai since early last year when Shiv Sethuraman quit the agency.

     

    Meanwhile, McCann is said to be making a senior hire to fill in the vacancy after Pandey has left.
