  • Ad Club salutes best brands at Marquees 2018

    The Advertising Club presented winners of Marquees 2018 on Wednesday evening in the presence of some of the biggest marketers and A&M industrypersons. Interestingly the jury for the second edition was the same as last year. It was headed by Sanjiv Mehta, Chairman and MD, Hindustan Unilever Limited & Executive Vice President, Unilever South Asia, and with CVL Srinivas, Country Manager, WPP India; Harsh Goenka, Chairman, RPG Enterprises; Agnello Dias, Founder & Chief Creative Officer, Taproot Dentsu; Naveen Chopra, Senior Advisor, TPG Capital and Raj Nayak, COO, Viacom 18.

     

    Said Vikram Sakhuja, Group CEO, Media and OOH, Madison Communications & President, The Advertising Club said: “I would like to congratulate each Marquee winner and thank them for setting standards that inspire us.”

  • Ogilvy, Lowe Lintas max IndIAA

    The India Chapter of International Advertising Association (IAA) presented its fourth edition of the IndIAA Awards in Mumbai on August 31.

     

    Said Ramesh Narayan, President IAA India Chapter:  “This is where real advertising wins. And I am delighted at the huge response from the industry. We had leading marketers from all over India, the creme de la creme of the creative fraternity, and media leaders assembled at one place to salute creativity that works hard in the market. In just four years the IndIAA awards have established themselves as a much-loved fixture in the communications industry. Congratulations to all the winners”.

    A soft launch of the book ‘The Gutenberg Galaxy’,  a collector’s item on case studies in print advertising was done by Ramesh Narayan, Prasoon Joshi, Abhishek Karnaniand Suresh Narayanan.

  • Star Re.Imagine Awards celebrates creativity and sportsmanship

    Winning teams of the Star Re.Imagine Awards that created the two award winning campaigns – Fevikwik’s ‘Khushiyon ke chand pal’ and Swiggy’s ‘No order too small’, conceptualised by Ogilvy & Mather and Lowe Lintas respectively witnessed an action-packed sporting spectacle between Manchester United and Tottenham along with a stadium tour of the team.

  • Happy mcgarrybowen bags Foodpanda’s creative duties

    Following a multi-agency pitch process, online food delivery marketplace Foodpanda has awarded its creative mandate to Happy mcgarrybowen. For the record, Foodpanda was acquired by Ola Cabs in December last year.

     

    The pitch for the creative mandate included both advertising and design disciplines, as the startup looks to revamp its identity after the alignment with Ola.

     

    Said Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO, Ola Cabs: “At Foodpanda, our mission is to connect deeper with our love and passion for food, and build not just a great delivery experience but also a great food experience.   • MMA India announces shortlist for Smarties Awards

    The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) has announced the shortlisted entries for the 2018 Smarties Awards in India. From this list, the winners will be announced on September 27 at the MMA Forum to be held in Mumbai.

     

    As many as 90 entries were shortlisted from across industries from hundreds of entries. Those shortlisted for this year’s awards include global brands like Google, Unilever, 21st Century Fox, HSBC, Cadbury, Godrej, Patanjali, Coca-Cola, Diageo, PepsiCo amongst others leading national and international brands.

     

    A total of 12 senior level brand marketers made up the list of juries, namely, Siddharth Banerjee of Vodafone, Priya Nair of Unilever, Gaurav Suri of UTI, Shabnam Panjwani of Edelweiss Financial Services, Viral Oza of Lodha Group, Avinash Kumar of Patanjali, Sandeep Singh of Bira, Asha Kharga of Axis Bank, Kartik Jain of DBS Bank, Abhishek Joshi of SonyLiv, Vishikh Talwar of Millward Brown, and Nitin Agarwal of Hotstar.

     

    “It was not easy judging the entries this year with new and innovative ideas put forth. The level of creativity brought to the table exceeded expectations as the standards of submission improve year on year,” said Priya Nair, Executive Director of Homecare Hindustan Unilever Limited, who was the jury chair at this year’s awards.

     

  • Vivek Bhargava is Grand Jury chair for 2018 DMA Asia Echo

    Vivek Bharagava, CEO of Denstu Aegis Network Performance Group, has been appointed as Chair of the Grand Jury of the upcoming DMA International Echo Awards’ Asia edition.

     

    Speaking on the occasion, Vivek Bhargava, CEO – DAN Performance Group said: “There are many awards out there. The Echo since 1929 exceptionally stands out. Previously Indian entrants were devoid of showcasing great work at global arena due to prohibitive fees.   • IAA to felicitate Raj Nayak with ‘Champion Award’

    Viacom18 COO Raj Nayak is being felicitated at the global level. At the annual International Advertising Association (IAA) Inspire awards to be held at Bucharest next week (on October 2) with advertising and marketing leaders from all over the world in attendance, Nayak who is also a past president of IAA India,will be felicitated with the ‘Champion Award’. Nayak will be recognised for his excellence in leadership, vision and distinguished services of leaders in the IAA and his contributions to advancing the IAA and communications in the worldwide marketing communications industry.

     

    Janak Sarda

    The IAA Inspire award will also recognise Janak Sarda, Joint Managing Director Deshdhoot Group of Publications with the Young Leader Award for excellence in contributing leadership and services in the IAA Young Professionals arena and creating dynamics in marketing communications.

     

     

    Raj Nayak

    Speaking about the felicitation of Raj Nayak, IAA India Chapter President, Ramesh Narayan said: “I am really overjoyed to announce this news. Having worked closely in the IAA with Raj Nayak I have been a witness to his dynamism, his receptivity to ideas, and his capacity to contribute to anything that furthers the cause of marketing communications in India. He drove and launched the prestigious IAA “Lighting a Billion Lives Campaign” which set the tone to provide solar lighting in millions of dark homes across the country. He also played a major role in the rolling out and nurturing the prestigious IAA leadership Awards for marketing and business excellence which has grown enormously over the last six years.   • WPP India’s CSR Foundation awarded at the India CSR Summit 2018

    WPP India CSR Foundation was awarded the ‘Company with Best CSR Impact for the year 2017-18’ at the 5th India CSR Summit & Exhibition 2018.

     

    On receiving the award, Rama Iyer, Director General WPP India CSR Foundation said: “This is a pivotal moment for us – as a young Foundation with an ambitious vision, we are happy to see that the work we started three years back in supporting our children in their journey from education to livelihood is being recognized by Government, Civil Society, Private sector and the larger community.   • Spikes Asia 2018 winners announced

    The Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity concluded by honouring the best creative work from across Asia-Pacific.

     

    Said Joe Pullos, Festival Director, Spikes Asia: “Spikes Awards are not won easily, so the quality of winners that we saw on stage tonight reflected truly ground-breaking, creative work that is representative of a fast-advancing region. Congratulations to everyone who was honoured – the creative benchmark for the region has now been set.”

     

    A total of 4,056 entries were submitted into this year’s awards. The entries, from 26 countries span 21 award categories, including the new Glass Award, launched earlier this year.

     

    This winners across categories include:

    Brand Experience & Activation
    3 Gold Spikes, 6 Silver Spikes, 17 Bronze Spikes and a Grand Prix went to DDB New Zealand, Auckland for ‘Fight for Territory’ for Steinlager from the 395 entries received.

     

    Creative Effectiveness
    2 Spikes were awarded from 29 entries. The Grand Prix was awarded to CHE Proximity, Melbourne, Australia for ‘The Billion Point Giveaway‘ for Velocity Frequent Flyer.

     

    Design
    From 323 entries 4 Gold Spikes, 14 Silver Spikes and 16 Bronze Spikes were awarded and Host/Havas, Sydney, Australia was awarded the Grand Prix for ‘Palau Pledge’ for Palau Legacy Project.

     

    Digital
    4 Gold Spikes, 8 Silver Spikes and 17 Bronze Spikes were awarded from the 361 Digital Spike entries along with a Grand Prix for ‘SelfieSTIX’, for Mars New Zealand, by Colenso BBDO, Auckland, New Zealand.

     

    Digital Craft
    From 109 entries 2 Gold Spikes, 2 Silver Spikes and 6 Bronze Spikes were awarded. The Grand Prix was presented to Six Inc Tokyo / Spa Hakuhodo.CO. LTD., Bangkok, Japan for their campaign ‘Obsession for Smoothness’ for Double A.

     

    Direct
    Host/Havas, Sydney, Australia received their second Grand Prix for their ‘Palau Pledge’ for Palau Legacy Project. A further 4 Gold Spikes, 6 Silver Spikes and 13 Bronze Spikes were awarded from the 290 entries into the Direct category.

     

    Entertainment
    The Entertainment Grand Prix was presented to GREYnJ UNITED, Bangkok, Thailand for their campaign ‘Friendshit’ for Kasikornbank PCL. 2 Gold Spikes, 3 Silver Spikes and 8 Bronze Spikes were also awarded from the 142 entries.

     

    Film
    ‘Friendshit’ by GREYnjUNITED, Bangkok, Thailand won its second Grand Prix, for Kasikornbank PCL. 361 entries were submitted and 2 Gold Spikes, 6 Silver Spikes and 10 Bronze Spikes were awarded.

     

    Film Craft
    Of the 364 Film Craft entries 6 Gold Spikes, 18 Silver Spikes and 20 Bronze Spikes were awarded. The Grand Prix went to ‘Stop the Horror’ for Go Gentle Australia by Revolver/Will O’Rourke, Sydney / Cummins&Partners, Sydney, Australia.

     

    Glass
    In its first year the Glass Spike received 37 entries and the inaugural Grand Prix was presented to FCBULKA, Gurgaon, India for ‘Sindoor Khela – No Conditions Apply’ for The Times of India . A further three Glass Spikes were awarded

     

    Healthcare
    Y&R ANZ, Melbourne, Australia won the Healthcare Grand Prix for the entry ‘Sip Safe’ for Monash University. 4 Gold Spikes, 6 Silver Spikes and 11 Bronze Spikes were awarded from the 189 entries.

     

    Innovation
    From the 35 entries into the Innovation category the Grand Prix was presented to BWM Dentsu, Sydney, Australia for ‘Project Revoice’ for The ALS Association, with 2 Innovation Spikes also awarded.

     

    Integrated
    ‘Palau Pledge’ received its third Grand Prix for Host/Havas, Sydney, Australia. 3 Silver Spikes and 1 Bronze Spike were also awarded from the 45 entries.

     

    Media
    The Media Grand Prix was presented to Host/Havas, Sydney, Australia for ‘Palau Pledge’, for Palau Legacy Project and the jury also awarded 3 Gold Spikes, 12 Silver Spikes and 12 Bronze Spikes from the 318 entries submitted.

     

    Mobile
    109 entries were submitted to the Mobile category with 3 Gold Spikes, 3 Silver Spikes and 6 Bronze Spikes awarded and a Grand Prix for ‘We Remit’ for Tencent by Tencent, Shenzhen, China.

     

    Music
    ‘#GiveABeat – A Song for Heart Disease Driven by the Percussion of Heartbeats’ for Max Healthcare & Max Group, by Propaganda India, Bangalore was awarded the Music Grand Prix. 1 Gold Spike, 2 Silver Spikes and 2 Bronze Spikes were awarded out of the 51 entries.

     

    Outdoor
    From 302 entries 2 Gold Spikes, 5 Silver Spikes and 9 Bronze Spikes were awarded with the Grand Prix presented to DDB New Zealand, Auckland for the campaign ‘Fight for Territory’ for Steinlager

     

    PR
    ‘Palau Pledge’ won the PR Grand Prix for Host/Havas, Sydney, Australia and Palau Legacy Project with 4 Gold Spikes, 8 Silver Spikes and 11 Bronze Spikes awarded from the 223 entries.

     

    Print & Outdoor Craft
    From the 156 entries submitted 3 Gold Spikes, 5 Silver Spikes and 4 Bronze Spikes were awarded. No Grand Prix was awarded

     

    Print & Publishing
    No Grand Prix was awarded in the Print & Publishing category. 4 Gold Spikes, 1 Silver Spike and 3 Bronze Spikes were chosen from 116 entries in the Print & Publishing category.

     

    Radio & Audio
    1 Silver Spike and 1 Bronze Spike were awarded from the 101 entries received with no Grand Prix and no Gold Spikes were awarded to Radio & Audio campaigns

    The Grand Prix for Good was presented to ‘Stop the Horror’ for Go Gentle Australia by Revolver/Will O’Rourke, Sydney / Cummins&Partners, Sydney, Australia

  • Mindshare, Madison bag top honours at Smarties

    The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) announced winners of its 2018 Smarties India Awards held on Friday, September 28 in conjunction with MMA Forum India

     

    Mindshare India and Madison Communications led the most wins, receiving 14 and 7 awards respectively across 19 categories, ranging from Brand Awareness, Most Engaging Mobile Creative and Social Impact/Not for Profit, amongst others. In the industry awards segment, Flipkart Internet was awarded ‘Publisher of the Year’, Mindshare India was recognised as ‘Agency of the Year in Mobile’ while MTV Roadies clinched both the esteemed ‘Marketer of the Year’ and ‘Best in Show’ with ‘When India Dared to Stare’ by Madison Communications.

     

    Before the awards ceremony, the MMA Forum was held where topics around managing the complex marketing landscape, and mobile attribution was discussed. There were also conversations around mobile video and over-the-top (OTT) distribution.

     

    Said Priya Nair, Executive Director of Homecare Hindustan Unilever Limited, and Jury Chair of MMA Smarties India said: “This year’s winners exhibited beyond the brand’s story and connected with the user. Their campaigns showcased creative concepts and innovative technology that lead to real business impact.   • TBWA\ India and Ather energy win Black Elephants at Kyoorius Design Awards

    Kyoorius Designyatra 2018 successfully concluded with the announcements of the Kyoorius Design Awards 2018 in Goa on Sunday.

     

    With two Black Elephants and 30 Blue Elephants this year, the Kyoorius Design Awards honoured and celebrated the most outstanding and innovative work in design and visual communication.

     

    The Black Elephant is awarded to work that’s truly exemplary across all disciplines. This year, TBWA\ India and Ather Energy won the elusive Black Elephant for the “Blink To Speak” and “The Ather 450” projects respectively.

     

    As many as 30 Blue Elephants were awarded, with Open Strategy & Design and Ananya Khaitan winning four Blue Elephants each for work spanning the 13 disciplines. Ather Energy and TBWA\ India won three Blue Elephants each in addition to the Black Elephant. The Blue Elephant is awarded to work that fulfills all the three judging criteria for the Kyoorius Awards, namely: an original and inspiring idea; well-executed; and relevant to its context.

     

     

  • The Social Street and Mindshare dominate Big Bang Awards 2018

    The 23rd edition of the Big Bang Awards by Ad Club Bangalore, brought to fore the rising talent poll in advertising industry. Mindshare bagged four out of the top nine most coveted awards while The Social Street bagged the ‘Creative Agency of the Year’ award.

     

    The Big Bang Awards for Excellence in Communication and Media were given away in a grand function on Friday September 28 in Bengaluru.

     

    Said Hemant Mallik, Chief Executive, ITC Foods, in his keynote: “The advertising agencies have a bigger responsibility now, in the internet era. The challenges posed by social media can undo a great ad campaign. The agencies have to learn to respond to such challenges, quickly and aggressively.”

     

    Added Malavika Harita, Chairperson – Big Bang Awards Committee: “We have made every effort to recognise talent and acknowledge it. The fact that the jury had a tough task at hand was evident from several new faces amongst the winners. Keeping in line with the #For the Love Of Advertising, the participants displayed it’s not merely a profession but a creative platform.”

     

    Hindustan Lever Limited won the Client of the Year Award, winning across several categories.
