  • In10 Media strengthens top deck

    In10 Media Network has announced the addition of four senior industry professionals to its leadership team. These being: Amarpreet Singh Saini, Manish Soni, Vinod Rao and Dipti Kalwani.

    On the appointments, Aditya Pittie, MD of In10 Media Network said, “These strategic appointments align with our vision to drive excellence in content creation and enhance our content studio library. We are confident that the expertise and leadership of Amarpreet, Manish, Vinod and Dipti will significantly contribute to the growth and success of our channels and platforms.”

    While Amarpreet Singh Saini joins as Vice President – Content & Strategy at Filamchi Bhojpuri from Zee Entertainment, where he was Chief Channel Officer for the Bhojpuri cluster (Bhojpuri GEC Zee Ganga and Bhojpuri Film Channel Zee Biskope), Manish Soni has been appointed Vice President – Content & Strategy at Ishara. With over 24 years of experience in the broadcast industry, he was the Chief Channel Officer of Zee Anmol Cinema at Zeel before joining Ishara.

    Meanwhile, Vinod Rao joins as Vice President – Content & Strategy at Nazara. He has worked with Zee Entertainment, Sab TV, and Shemaroo TV  and Dipti Kalwani has been appointed Senior Vice President – TV & AVOD at Juggernaut Productions. She has produced shows like Badho Bahu, Namak Issk Ka and Fanaa – Ishq Mein Marjawan amongst others.

  • Punit Goenka acquires majority stake in Maverick Media

    Zee Entertainment CEO Punit Goenka has acquired a majority stake in Maverick Media. Goenka has made this investment in his personal capacity and the same has no bearing on the company that he leads, a communique undesrscores.

    Commenting on his decision, Punit Goenka said: “Cinema has played a crucial role in shaping our Nation, reflecting and celebrating our rich culture, legacy and traditions. Through the magic of viewing entertainment content on the big screen, cinema has served as the bridge for Indian entertainment to the World and has also helped address sensitive social aspects to drive societal change. While my professional commitments continue to remain a priority, I believe that as key members of the fraternity, it is our collective responsibility to enhance the growth opportunities for all segments in the media value chain, and hence I have taken this decision in my personal capacity. The potential of single screen cinemas across several tier II & III cities is immense, and it is imperative to revive this infrastructure, keeping its fabric and cultural essence intact. I am confident in the ability of the team at Maverick to achieve its vision and grow the single-screen cinema business. I truly hope this step enables an economically viable opportunity for cinema exhibition operators across key growth markets in the country.”

  • Zee Entertainment streamlines org structure

    The Board of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd has approved the streamlined organisation structure proposed by the MD and CEO Punit Goenka. The objective is to nurture collaboration and leverage synergies amongst the core business segments which include Broadcast, Digital, Movies and Music.

    The composition of the new structure approved by the Board is as follows:

    • Punit Goenka, MD & CEO will assume direct charge of the critical business verticals including the Domestic Broadcast Business. The following leaders will report directly into the MD & CEO:
      • Siju Prabhakaran, who has led the South cluster of channels, will take additional responsibility of the West cluster, further fortifying the performance in the mentioned markets.
      • Samrat Ghosh, who has led the East cluster of channels, will take additional responsibility of North & Premium cluster.
      • Ruchir Tiwari will continue to lead the Hindi Movies cluster, with a focus on quality entertainment.
      • Vishnu Shankar will continue to lead &TV and the FTA segment.
      • Ashish Sehgal will be responsible for Integrated Advertisement Sales for the Broadcast and Digital business. In this enhanced role, for the digital business revenue, Sehgal will also report into Amit Goenka (for the Broadcast business revenue he will continue to report into Goenka).

    Meanwhile, Amit Goenka will continue to lead the digital business for the company, taking direct charge of original content (including movies). He will assume additional charge of the international broadcast business, enterprise technology and broadcast operations and engineering, leveraging synergies between the business segments to drive higher growth. In this role, he will continue to report into the MD & CEO.

    • Leveraging his domain expertise and understanding of content production, strategy, movies acquisition and syndication, Umesh Bansal will lead the movies business for the company. In this role, he will report into the MD & CEO.
    • Anurag Bedi will continue to lead the music business and enhance the vertical’s contribution to the Company’s bottom-line. He will continue to report into the MD & CEO.

    All Corporate Functions will continue to report into the MD & CEO. The new structure is effective immediately.

  • Zee Entertainment forms Independent Advisory Committee…

    The Board of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has approved to constitute an Independent Advisory Committee that, it notes in a statement, will enable it to review and take cognisance of the widespread circulation of misinformation, market rumours, and speculation that has led to the formation of negative public opinion about the company and consequent erosion of investor wealth.

    The committee will be presided by Dr Satish Chandra, a former Judge of the Allahabad High Court, and will comprise two independent directors of the company, Uttam Prakash Agarwal and P V R Murthy.

    Notes a communique: “The committee will independently provide guidance on the measures and future course of action that the Board is required to take in order to protect the interests of all the stakeholders of the company. The Board will seek expert guidance of the committee on the aforementioned matters from time to time.”

  • Zee5 Global to aggregate add-on streaming platforms for US audiences

    Zee5 Global, the streaming service for South Asian content from the Zee Entertainment conglomerate, has announced an aggregation of multiple South Asian streaming platforms within the Zee5 Global platform with the launch of ‘add-ons’ in the US market. With this, offer subscribers in the US will get a single-window to access variety of South Asian entertainment platforms on the Zee5 Global platform. The add-ons pricing starts from $1.49 onwards.

     

    These were unveiled by Amit Goenka, President, Digital Businesses and Platforms and  Archana Anand, Chief Business Officer, Zee5 Global at an event in Mumbai on Tuesday.

     

    Said Archana Anand, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 Global: “The launch of Add-ons on Zee5 Global is a significant milestone, further cementing our leadership position as the No.1 South Asian streaming platform in the US market.”

     

    ZEE5 Global Add-ons currently offers content across languages from streaming platforms like Simply South (all South Indian languages), Oho Gujarati (Gujarati), Chaupal (Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Haryanvi), NammaFlix (Kannada), EPIC ON (Hindi) and iStream (Malayalam) with at least six more being onboarded. originals across languages.

    Meanwhile, an India to US referral programme will also be rolled out soon. Subscribers in India will be able to share a referral link with friends or family in the US and earn Rs 500 for each successful referral. There will be no capping on the number of referrals, so there is no upper limit to how much one can get.

     

    At the launch event, a panel discussion titled the Coming of Age of South Asian Entertainment: The Time is Now was conducted. The panel discussion, moderated by Anupama Chopra, featured actors Manoj Bajpayee, Guneet Monga, Vishal Bhardwaj, Pratik Gandhi, and Archana Anand from Zee5 Global.

    Zee Entertainment launched the second edition of its  #TVIsFamily campaign to mark the occasion of World Television Day. The #TVIsFamily campaign aims to recognize the role of television as any family member by making it part of the family portrait picture.

  • Kyoorius partners with ‘Indian Creative Women’

    Kyoorius has announced its partnership with Indian Creative Women, an independent forum working on amplifying the percentage of women creative directors in the Indian Advertising and Design industry. In collaboration with them, Kyoorius has come up with a host of initiatives that will boost gender equality on their stage and in the industry.

    One of these is the Zee Equality Award – The Purple Elephant, which will recognise and reward work that has addressed and impacted gender inequality in India through innovative thinking. The colour ‘purple’ signifies justice, dignity and has been historically associated with efforts to achieve gender equality. The winners will be decided by a special jury to be announced shortly.
