    Sony Pictures Networks India has onboarded Prashant Bhatt as Head – Programming, Sony Sab. In his new role, Prashant will be spearheading the content and programming division for the channel and will be responsible for managing the content line-up and the channel’s creative strategy. Prashant will be reporting to Neeraj Vyas, Business Head – Sony Sab.

  • Sony Pictures acquires rights for Lanka league

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has returned as a broadcast partner for the second edition of Lanka Premier League (LPL). The network has signed an agreement with the official franchise and broadcast holder of LPL – the IPG Group. The agreement between Sony Pictures Networks India and the IPG Group includes the television and digital transmission of the LPL, which is set to be played between December 5, 2021 to December 23, 2021.

  • Sony enters 2-yr deal with Bundesliga

    Bundesliga International, a subsidiary of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga, has agreed to a two-year deal with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) for exclusive media rights to broadcast the Bundesliga in India and the Indian Subcontinent. The agreement includes India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Pakistan.

  • Sony Sports tops for seven consecutive weeks

    Sony Sports TV channels have featured at the top of the sports genre viewership for seven consecutive weeks thanks to the telecast of UEFA Euro 2020, Copa America 2021, the India tour of Sri Lanka, the Olympics and the ongoing India tour of England.

  • Sony Pictures rejigs top deck

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has revamped its organisational structure, making several leadership changes.

     

    Rohit Gupta has transitioned from his role as Chief Revenue Officer – Ad Sales and International Business and taken on the responsibility of being SPN’s Advisor to the Management and the Board. Rajesh Kaul, in addition to his existing role as the Chief Revenue Officer – Distribution and Business Head – Sports, will take on charge of International Sales and will work in-collaboration with the Digital team to expand SPN’s brand presence and reach across the world. Neeraj Arora, currently heading International Sales will now be reporting directly to Rajesh Kaul.

     

    Sandeep Mehrotra has been appointed Head – Ad Sales, Network Channels. Danish Khan, Business Head – Sony Entertainment Television, Digital Business and StudioNext will take additional charge of Network Channels Licensing. Tushar Shah, Business Head, English, Factual Entertainment & Sony AATH, takes on an additional role of the newly created position of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for SPN. Aditya Mehta, in addition to his current role of Corporate Strategy and Business Development, will spearhead the formation of Data Analytics CoE to strengthen SPN’s approach to being a data driven organisation. Nitin Nadkarni, Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will take additional charge of the Broadcast Operations and Network Engineering (BONE) department. Kingshuk Bhattacharya – Head, B.O.N.E. will now report to Nadkarni.

  • Sony Pictures Sports Network film on Olympics

    Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN), along with many luminaries from diverse fields, has undertaken a ‘Best Wishes Initiative’ to rally the support of the nation for the Indian contingent.
    SPSN put together a series of ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’ films on air and on their social media platforms sending their best wishes to the Indian contingent for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’ campaign has been conceptualized and created in-house by the SPSN team.

  • Sony Pictures acquires rights for 2021 Meiji Yasuda J1 League

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has acquired the exclusive television and digital rights for the twenty-ninth season of Meiji Yasuda J1 League (the Japan Professional Football League) till December 2021.The broadcast territories will include India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The matches will be aired live on Sony Ten 2 channels in India and live streamed on SonyLIV, SPN’s OTT streaming platform.

     

    Notes a communique: “The league has been home to some of the most exciting players from across Europe such as Diego Forlan, Lukas Podolski, Hulk, Jorginho and Andreas Iniesta among others.”

  • Sony Sport to be official broadcaster Abu Dhabi T10

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has returned as the official broadcast partner for the second edition of Abu Dhabi T10. The tournament is slated to take place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium from January 28 to February 6, 2021.

     

    All 29 Abu Dhabi T10 matches will be telecast live on Sony Six in English and 27 matches on Sony Ten 3 in Hindi and will be livestreamed on its on-demand OTT platform SonyLIV which will allow viewers to watch the tournament on their mobile phones, bumping potential viewership numbers for the event.

     

    This year’s Abu Dhabi T10 will feature eight teams: Maratha Arabians, Bangla Tigers, Delhi Bulls, Northern Warriors, Deccan Gladiators, Qalandars, Team Abu Dhabi and Pune Devils that will face each other in 29 action-packed matches across 10 days.

     

    In addition to its massive subscriber base, Sony Pictures Networks India brings broadcast expertise and strong credentials to its part of the deal. The network is the premier destination for cricket in India, with rights to four international cricket boards – England and Wales Cricket Board, Cricket Australia, Sri Lanka Cricket and Cricket Ireland. The broadcaster is also the official broadcaster of the ongoing India tour of Australia and the Big Bash League.

  • Sony Pictures acquires rights for Lanka Premier League 2020

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has acquired the exclusive pay television and IPTV broadcast rights for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan & Maldives and non-exclusive FTA rights for the same countries excluding Sri Lanka. The tournament will take place from November 26 to December 16. 2020.

  • SonyLIV to air Sucheta Dalal-Debashis Basu’s Harshad Mehta scam series

    On Friday, October 9 SonyLIV will unveil ‘Scam 1992 – The Harshad Mehta Story’, an original around the stockmarket operator Harshad Mehta and the securities scandal of the early 1990s.

     

    The 10-episode show is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Studio Next and is based on the bestseller book ‘The Scam’ written by journalists Debashis Basu and Sucheta Dalal.
