  • Sony acquires rights for LPL 2022

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has bagged the exclusive broadcast rights for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League 2022 franchise cricket tournament.

     

    Notes a communique: “The broadcaster will get the exclusive television rights across the Indian subcontinent including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, and Maldives along with digital rights for India and Sri Lanka. Cricket fans are in for a high-octane ride with 40+ matches to be telecast across Sony Sports Ten 1 & Sony Sports Ten 5 channels.”

     

  • Sony bags rights for Bangla 2022

    Sony Pictures Networks (SPN) has bagged the exclusive television rights to broadcast the India tour of Bangladesh 2022 (Men’s Cricket).

     

    Said Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer, Distribution and Head – Sports Business, Sony Pictures Networks India: “It gives us immense pleasure to present fans with Team India’s final series before ending a successful year of cricket. India’s overseas record under the leadership of Rohit Sharma has been remarkable, and we hope to witness the same success in Bangladesh. With this series, we aim to continue providing fans with non-stop cricket action.”

  • Sony Sports to air Tennis Premier League Season 4

    Tennis Premier League (TPL) is scheduled for December 7 to 11 and will be aired on the Sony Sports Network – specifically, Sony Ten 2 channels and SonyLIV. The league will be held in Pune.

  • Sony Sports announces broadcast plans for ÇWG

    Sony Sports Network has announced plans the live broadcast of the XXII Commonwealth Games starting from today, July 28 at 11 pm IST. The event will mark the return of Sony Sports’s ;ive wraparound studio show Sports Extraaa featuring eminent panelists and guests.

  • Sony acquires broadcast rights to World Athletics Championships Oregon22

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has acquired the media rights for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, which is scheduled from July 15 to 24, 2022, in Eugene, Oregon, United States. This deal will give SPN rights to broadcast the upcoming edition of the World Athletics Championships on its sports channels across India and the subcontinent, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka The association will also allow SPN to showcase all Video on Demand content for its viewers.

     

    The World Athletics Championships Oregon22, will be live telecast across SONY TEN 2 channels in India as well as livestreamed on SPN’s premium OTT platform, SonyLIV. For India, Olympic javelin champion Neeraj Chopra will lead the country’s charge

     

    Currently, former long jumper Anju Bobby George’s bronze in Paris in 2003 is the only medal won by an Indian athlete at the World Championships. The nation will be rooting strongly for the contingent and hope to extend the medal tally in this outing.

  • Sony to air French Open in 4 languages

    Sony Sports Network (SSN) is going multi-lingual in the live airing of the French Open (aka Roland-Garros) which started yesreday. This is the first year that SSN will be showing the Grand Slam event and the broadcaster is going all out with the live coverage of the event in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

  • SPN bags India-Denmark Davis Cup rights

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has acquired the exclusive media rights to broadcast Davis Cup tie between India and Denmark. As part of the deal signed with the All India Tennis Association, SPN will broadcast the tournament on Sony TEN 2 channels across India and the subcontinent, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka as well as live-stream the tournament on their premium OTT platform, SonyLIV.

     

    The Davis Cup matches are scheduled to start from Friday, March 4, with a 15-minute opening ceremony, followed by the final day of the Indian Leg on Saturday, March 5.

This association will give SPN exclusive rights to broadcast the 19th edition of the Asian Games on its sports channels across India and the subcontinent including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Maldives and will also be available on their premium OTT platform, SonyLIV.

  • SPN acquires rights for Legends League Cricket

    Legends League Cricket (LLC) has announced its partnership with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) to live telecast all the matches of the league to be played in January 2022, on Sony Ten 1 and Sony Ten 3 channels as well as livestream the matches in India on SPN’s premium OTT platform, SonyLIV.

The League also has former India Head Coach, Ravi Shastri, as its Commissioner looking after the cricketing aspect. As a host Oman has presented itself a very promising destination for cricket after successfully hosting the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup matches recently.
