  • Dentsu Impact bags Ikea’s India creative mandate

    Dentsu Impact, the recently rechristened creative agency of the Dentsu Aegis Network, has bagged the creative mandate for Ikea.

     

    With Ikea set to launch in India next year, it had undertaken an elaborate, three-month pitch process with many agencies participating.

    Commenting on the association, Ulf Smedberg, Country Marketing Manager, Ikea said, “We are happy to sign up Dentsu as our creative partner in India after a long pitch process involving the best agencies in the country.   • WATConsult launches a new research division – Recogn

    WATConsult, which is now part of the Dentsu Aegis Network, has launched a new research division – Recogn.

     

    Recogn is a speciality research unit which provides research based consulting solutions in areas of marketing, brand, product and consumer strategy. All these services are provided in-house using primary research tools (qualitative and quantitative) along with secondary desk research and social media analytics.

     

    WATConsult now enters the space of Market Research with Recogn. The launch of this division directly is in accordance with their understanding of the digital audience, providing marketers with deeper insights into the minds of digital consumers and helping them create more focussed digital strategies.

     

    The agency has already bagged their first assignment under Recogn wherein they have partnered with National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) to contribute a chapter on ‘Digital Marketing Practices’ among the food services sector for NRAI India Food Services Report 2016 (NRAI IFSR 2016).

  • Dentsu Aegis announces rebranding of creative agencies. Taproot & Webchutney unchanged

    Transformation appears to be in the air at Dentsu Aegis Network’s Dentsu Branded Agencies. In a move to help clients better leverage the capabilities of a global network, Dentsu Aegis Network has realigned agencies across several countries under three groupings.

     

    Consequently, Dentsu Communications will now be known as Dentsu India, Dentsu Marcom will be Dentsu One and Dentsu Creative Impact will be known as Dentsu Impact. Taproot Dentsu and Dentsu Webchutney remain unchanged.

    Said Ashish Bhasin, Chairman and CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network, India & South Asia: “This new nomenclature is a first step towards expanding and reinforcing the global and regional services we provide our clients in India. It will help us serve our global clients better as well as acquire more new business.”

     

    Commenting further, Bhasin said, “We are consolidating our capabilities under a global agency network, with a uniform identity across markets, in order to strengthen the coordination across our network and expand the high quality service we consistently provide.     However, while some names may change, but leadership or teams at the individual units stay unchanged. Simi Sabhaney will continue as CEO and Vipul Thakkar as NCD of Dentsu India, Harjot Narang as President and Titus Upputuru as NCD of Dentsu One, and Amit Wadhwa as President and Soumitra Karnik as NCD of Dentsu Impact. Meanwhile, Narayan Devanathan continues as the Group Executive and Strategy Officer of Dentsu Branded Agencies, India.

  • Dentsu Aegis teams up with Dentsu Ventures and iProspect to mentor and fund start-ups set up by women

    As part of One@DentsuAegis, a programme developed to support diversity and innovation across the business, Dentsu Aegis Network has formalised an initiative to mentor, develop and help fund female start-ups in South and Southeast Asia. Partnering with other female led diversity initiatives such as Female Founders, Women Unlimited and She Means Business, Dentsu Aegis Network will run a three-part program launching in August 2016.

     

    Ruth Stubbs, CEO of iProspect Asia Pacific, will be running the initiative with an extended leadership team from across Dentsu Aegis Network and strategic business partners which include clients and other third parties. A blueprint has been developed to recruit, mentor and fund female founded start-ups that display `innovation, diversity, social sustainability and tech leadership’ at their core.

     

    In partnership with some of the leading institutions, foundations and associations focused on the empowerment and promotion of female leadership in both start-ups and across the industry, the programme will culminate with an opportunity for successful candidates to pitch their business for secondary funding, often the hardest to land, through Dentsu Ventures.

     

    “We believe this initiative will allow Dentsu Aegis Network to lead the industry towards a more socially conscious approach to the onset of the digital economy, especially highlighting the role women and emerging markets are set to play.   • Dentsu Aegis Network reaches out to 2500 children on ‘One Day For Change’

    Dentsu Aegis Network organised the third edition of its corporate social responsibility programme, ‘One Day For Change’, on June 3, 2016.

     

    With children playing the central role in the programme this year, the India chapter of this global initiative successfully reached out to as many as 2500 children across the country.  An estimated 1,500 Dentsu Aegis Network employees across offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai and Kochi were engaged to execute the project, “Champions For Children”.

     

    In India, the key focus of the ‘One Day For Change’ (ODFC) programme was held across four categories – digital, education, health and entertainment.

     

    As part of the digital push, the network’s Delhi office visited Kushi Rainbow Girls Home to donate   laptops and conduct sessions on excel & IT skills. Meanwhile, the employees also visited the Earth Saviours Foundation and interacted with more than 300 mentally challenged children.

     

    In Mumbai, Dentsu Aegis Network touched the lives of 1100 kids across nine child welfare organisations. It is pertinent to note here that the Dentsu Aegis Network employees also created a Fun Fair for more than 200 children suffering from various forms of cancer to entertain them all through the day. The event was attended by none other than Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, the chief guest for the day at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel.

     

    The company also arranged an educational excursion for 100 underprivileged children, supported by Umang Foundation, to Nehru Science Centre, Worli. Additionally, the group set-up a dental health check-up camp at Madras Wadi, a slum area near Worli, where 300 children turned up for the event.

     

    The network was sub-divided into teams of 20-50 in Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Kochi. Each team visited a particular child welfare shelter to execute a variety of creative workshops.

     

    Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai also tied up with various hospitals and NGOs to organise a blood donation drive for kids with Thalassemia and Cancer. Over 250 bottles of blood were donated by Dentsu Aegis Network staff across all regions.

    One Day For Change is an annual social commitment by the Dentsu Aegis Network, where employees from each of the countries are encouraged to go out and volunteer on the same day.

     

    Last year, over 800 employees volunteered in India contributing 2,200 staff hours. While the final numbers are still trickling in, it is estimated that in 2016 in India 1,500 employees volunteered over

     

  • Panasonic India hands over digital mandate to Isobar India

    Panasonic India has appointed Isobar, the digital agency from Dentsu Aegis Network, as their digital agency. The mandate is for a full-service digital business of Panasonic.

     

    Sharing his thoughts on the association, Sarthak Seth, Head – Brand & Marketing Communications at Panasonic India, said, “We are glad to see the enthusiasm that people at Isobar have for Panasonic.   • Vizeum appoints Amita Karwal as COO, North & South

    Vizeum, the media agency from the Dentsu Aegis Network, has roped in Amita Karwal as Chief Operating Officer, North and South. Karwal has worked with Zenith Optimedia, Initiative Media as well as Samsung and Reckit Benckiser. Prior to this, Karwal was executive vice president, North and East at DDB Mudra Max.

     

    Karwal will be responsible for heading all businesses in the North and South and will report to Shripad Kulkarni, Managing Director, Vizeum.

     

    Speaking on the appointment, Kulkarni said, “Currently, we are on an extremely strong growth trajectory, especially in Delhi, and Amita’s joining will bring in fresh momentum to this pace.   • Dentsu promotes Tanvi Jain to senior SVP – Delhi

    Dentsu Webchutney has announced the promotion of Tanvi Jain to senior vice president and branch head – Delhi. Prior to this, Tanvi was vice president at Dentsu Digital.

     

    As part of her new mandate, Tanvi will be responsible for acquiring new clients apart from taking the lead in servicing the existing clients. She will also be responsible for revenue growth from the region and will continue to report to Sidharth Rao, chief executive officer and co-founder, Dentsu Webchutney.
