  • #FanTheFireinitiative aims to draw attention to alternate sports

    Adidas has launched its latest initiative #FanTheFire to focus attention on athletes who pursue lesser followed sports. Conceptualised by Cheil India, the digital film features NishchayLuthra, an Indian figure skater who has won four international medals for India and is a nine-time national gold medalist.

     

    Speaking on the campaign, Sean van Wyk, Senior Marketing Director, adidas India said: “At Adidas, we truly believe that through sport, we have the power to change lives. With #FanTheFire, we seek to shine a spotlight on athletes and sports which are not mainstream, and in turn, inspire the next generation to take up such sports.  The campaign urges fan’s to support Nishchay and we hope that the encouragement of better-known athlete’s will help him gain the necessary patronage to reach his aim of winning a medal at the Winter Games in 2018. This is our commitment to provide the fuel for Nishchay Luthra and many more like him.”

  • Samsung unveils new customer service campaign with 4-min TVC

    Samsung India has launched a nationwide television and digital campaign showcasing its initiative to take customer service to the doorsteps of consumers in the hinterlands.

     

    The new campaign — conceptualised by Cheil India and unveiled across 50 television channels supported by print, across cities and digital – showcases the journey of a young Samsung engineer, who is on his way to provide the services in a remote village in India. The commercial underlines Samsung’s vision of creating long lasting relationship with itsconsumers through timely service.

     

    “In the last 21 years in India, Samsung has grown to become the largest consumer electronics and mobile phones brand in India. With a wide portfolio of products that are sold across India through more than 150,000 retail outlets, Samsung also has a strong pan India service network. Our new initiative of expanding to rural India, right upto the taluka level, helps us in taking care of our valued customers, wherever they are. The new campaign video gives a glimpse of yet another initiative towards our ‘Make for India’ commitment. We are very happy to receive an overwhelming response from consumers across India, who have given a big thumbs up to the campaign with around 13 million views on YouTube in just 96 hours,” said Ranjivjit Singh, Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung India.

  • Shiv Sethuraman exits Cheil SW Asia

    Cheil India has announced that Group President, Cheil South West Asia Shiv Sethuraman has resigned. Sethuraman had joined the agency in January 2015 and was entrusted with operations of India and the rest of South West Asia.

     

    The agency has issued a statement saying: “The board and management of Cheil Worldwide would like to thank (Shiv) Sethuraman for his time and dedication to Cheil India and we wish him well in his future endeavors. We, internally will convene to deliberate on the matter and will expedite the process of finding a suitable replacement at the earliest.”

     

    “It’s been an exhilarating and satisfying couple of years at Cheil,” Sethuraman said in a statement. I would like to wish the company all the very best in the years to come.”

     

    Before joining Cheil, Sethuraman was at TBWA\India as Group CEO and before that for seven years at Ogilvy & Mather’s Paris office.

     

  • UCWeb unveils campaign for UC Browser and UC News

    UCWeb, an Alibaba mobile business group company and makers of UC Browser released their commercial in India for UC News. UCWeb had launched UC News last month in Delhi and the television commercial is part of an integrated campaign launched to promote UC News in India.

     

    Created on the insight of ‘Survival of Latest’, the campaign seeks to position UC News as the right product for the people who want to stay updated with relevant and trending information. The integrated campaign was started on July 26, 2016 with the introduction and teaser of the TVC on social media platforms and made its TV debut on July 30, 2016.

     

    Explaining the rationale behind the campaign, Constantin Wu, Head of Marketing, UCWeb India said, “At UCWeb we take great pride in our products. Our vision is to help bring the benefits of mobile internet to people across the world and with that vision we have created products like UC News. Our brief to the agency therefore was very simple and clear. We wanted the communication to speak to the millennials in a language that they understand and help them connect with UC News. The key insight that this campaign works on is that todays’ generation aspires to stay ahead of their peer group. ‘ UC News’ helps to give them the edge of being in the know of the ‘latest’, which establishes them as a clued-in individual.”

     

    The campaign has been created by Cheil India.   • Maxus appoints Vivek Ballabh as GM-Digital, Maxus

    Marketing communications consultancy Maxus announced the appointment of Vivek Ballabh as the General Manager – Maxus Digital for North India.

     

    Vivek joins Maxus from Cheil India, where he managed the media operations for multiple clients. Vivek brings with him extensive experience in digital marketing and branding which enables a significant understanding in planning/executing various integrated digital campaigns. In a career spanning 14+ years, Vivek has worked with leading agencies/companies – these being Cheil India, Monster.com, Webchutney, Digitas & Razorfish etc.

     

    Vivek started his career with the online marketing domain with Careercommunity.com which launched India’s first online job portal- Winjobs.com. He has spent two years at Monster.com as a Brand Manager where he handled marketing operations for South East Asian markets. With over five years spent at Digitas & Razorfish, Vivek launched the digital media practice and also setup a SEM centric off-shore centre of 120 people, catering to the group’s business needs worldwide.

  • Inshorts unveils inaugural brand campaign

    In order to boost awareness about its short form content value proposition, news app Inshorts has launched a video commercial of its first ever brand campaign on YouTube. Executed by Cheil India, the ad targets urban news consumers in the age group of 18-35, who value brevity and time.

     

    Carrying the tagline – “Short mein jaano”, the campaign captures real life situations where the protagonists get frustrated from people around them who waste time in beating around the bush instead of communicating to the point.

     

    This being the central theme, the video commercial revolves around a bomb squad commando stuck in a situation of urgency, awaiting instructions from his senior, to take the necessary action. It is only after a series of unimportant information that the commando is guided about the course of action he was looking for all along.

     

    Inshorts, through its 60-word shorts, provides users a unique content discovery experience that allows them to read a lot of news items in short, in very little time. With just a few swipes, at a time and place of their convenience, consumers can keep abreast with all the important news of the day.

     

    Commenting on the launch of the campaign, Azhar Iqubal, CEO & Co-Founder, Inshorts said, “Being an internet company, we are launching our campaign online first and intend to go all out with ATL and BTL campaigns later. Through this TVC, we hope to highlight the Inshorts value proposition of keeping its users updated with simple, factual and to-the-point content which can be consumed in minimum time.”

     

    The commercial has been directed by Gajraj Rao, produced by Code Red Films and conceptualized by Cheil India. The four-week long campaign will go live on digital and social platforms like Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

  • Apollo Munich appoints Cheil to handle creative biz

    Cheil India has been named as the creative Agency on Record by health insurance giant Apollo Munich. The account, which was most recently with JWT India, was awarded to Cheil after a multi-agency pitch.

  • The Social Street announces launch of retail unit

  • Sonal Narain takes charge as CSO at Cheil India

    Cheil India has appointed Sonal Narain as Chief Strategy Officer. Sonal Narain will be based in the firm’s Gurgaon office, the regional headquarters for South-West Asia.

     

    Sonal, who currently serves as Head of Planning at Ogilvy Singapore and is also Head of Ogilvy Change (the firm’s Behavioural Sciences practice) is someone who is ‘obsessed by effectiveness in communication’.

     

    At Ogilvy, she has been driving an organisation-wide agenda for effectiveness that has resulted in over 20 wins at all major awards at local, regional and international shows. She was also awarded Planner of the Year 2014 in Singapore.

     

    She has worked on brands such as The Economist, Milo, Kimberly Clarke, SoyJoy, Kotex, Huggies, Economic Development Board of Singapore, and the Singapore Sports Council.

  • Cheil India appoints Vaarunya Bhalla as Senior Brand Manager
