  • The Anchor: 5 reasons you shouldn’t miss INMA if you’re a print professional

#1 The theme and agenda of the INMA conference has always been useful to the print industry. Unlike other conferences where there is lot of gyaan and conference is reduced to either networking or picnicking, INMA’s focus is the industry. I am not running down anyone but the interest of the newspaper industry is really met at INMA, and therefore every publisher should attend.

#2 There are about 30 speakers who will share their views over a period of two days. These people are experts in their field and present different aspects of publishing. So it’s not restricted to just one aspect of advertising or revenue but circulation, readership and other aspects are also discussed. At some conferences, the agenda is only one-dimensional but that is not the case here.

#3 Newspapers themselves have treated various functions within their organization as compartments and not departments. There is little communication happening across functions but the way ahead is to change this way of working. This conference can give that kind of perspective and help people in the industry to practice collaboration within their organization and take advantage.

#4 At INMA, subjects are not just discussed but opportunity is given to clarify and understand what is being said. It’s fairly interactive.

#5 The conference is a good opportunity to network and the food is excellent. So why miss it!?

  • INMA conference starts, packed house!

    By Akash Raha

The International Newsmedia Marketing Association, better known as INMA,  kicked off its annual South Asia conference in Bengaluru today to a full house. The two-day event is taking place at ITC Gardenia under the theme ‘Roots and Wings: Strengthening Our Core Business and Exploring New Opportunities.’ MxM India spoke to Earl J Wilkinson, Executive Director and CEO, INMA to know about his expectations from the conference. Around 220 delegates from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Uganda amongst others are in attendance.

Mr Wilkinson said, “What I’m looking for from the Bengaluru INMA South Asia Conference is, where are the new pockets of growth in the region? Have newspapers hit a peak with readership? What are the value drivers in advertising for newspapers as competition intensifies? Where does the creativity reside among South Asian newspapers? To what degree are global trends in digital media being adopted by South Asian newspapers? Where does the Indian newspaper story fit in the broader global context of transformation and culture change?”

This INMA conference will also focus on the unique opportunities ahead for South Asian newspapers in which they seek profitability and would also like to adapt and create more revenue streams in the digital domain. The INMA conference will host top newspapers publishers and marketers in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and give them the opportunity to share learnings with each other. The sessions are expected to take delegates through a world of ideas and innovations which will give them insights into ways to grow newspaper advertising, circulation and brand across titles and across consumer platforms.

Mr Wilkinson further added “It’s a very high-level, relevant programme for South Asian newspaper executives. I don’t just want to hear from the speakers. I want to hear from the delegates. Are they curious and pushing for answers and ideas?”

Mr Tariq Ansari, INMA South Asia president and Managing Director, Mid-Day Multimedia welcomed the delegates and Mr I Venkat, Director, Eenadu, who is also the conference moderator, gave his opening remarks, charting the changes that have been seen in the newspaper publishing scene.

  • Prashant Panday: ‘Coz radio is sexy!

    By Prashant Panday

It’s indeed great to be in the radio business! Provided you are the leader and have managed your costs well! Provided you are a listenership leader and your listenership helps you command a good enough pricing in the market! Provided your work culture is so much fun that you are able to retain the top talent and top management both! Provided you have managed your business so well that you are well prepared to take on future challenges and opportunities! In short, provided you are a Radio Mirchi!

For the rest, radio has been an uphill challenge right from the time the auctions for Phase-2 ended in Jan-Feb 2006. Right from then, losses have only mounted for most broadcasters. When things started to get a little better, they got a lot worse when the economic slowdown hit in 2008-9. When things got a little better again last year, and many of the larger broadcasters achieved EBITDA breakeven, almost half the license period had ended. In the radio business, if you hit EBITDA breakeven at the mid-point of your license period, you have no hopes of delivering returns to your shareholders. That indeed is the story of most radio broadcasters.

However, the future does look brighter than the past has been. Provided again, if broadcaster handle their businesses sensibly in the future; provided they bid reasonably and sensibly in Phase-3 auctions. Those who chase network size at any cost will continue to be in trouble for the next 15 or even 25 years. Those who bid smartly – even losing a few important stations in the process – will be able to make the radio business profitable.

One has to remember this – radio is not TV – here costs are paramount. This realization is more important than anything else. In radio, one has to keep one’s head down; focus on brand building; not get too flashy or ambitious; and keep plodding away at the key drivers of the business. That and that alone matters in the radio business!

For such broadcasters who bid sensibly, the road ahead is indeed exciting. The radio industry has scaled only the 5 percent peak – 5 percent as a share of the total advertising industry. The 8 and percent peaks are set to be scaled in the next few years.

As the number of cities increases, the importance of radio is bound to increase. First there is Phase-3 to provide the impetus – taking the penetration of radio to more than 300 towns. Then there is bound to be the next phase – Phase IV – in which the government is sure to add more frequencies in the major metros. That should give radio another big impetus. In fact, the government can launch both phases 3 and 4 simultaneously.

The radio industry has given an easy formula for the government to offer more spectrums to radio broadcasters, thus more than doubling the number of channels in the major metros. Simply reduce the gap or separation between two adjoining FM channels from 800 Khz to 400 Khz and the number of frequencies will double! Everyone will gain – most so the government which can rake in much higher license fees. Equally so…..the listeners at large…..who will get much more programming variety to choose from. This will help broadcasters also who will get to operate different formats – after all, in which other media segment is there such a shortage of formats? There are more than 750 TV channels, thousands of newspaper titles and tens of thousands of outdoor sites and websites. Why then are there so few radio stations?

To end, radio has always been a sexy medium. It’s the medium in which advertisers can truly dive and get the best out – at a regional and local level. Advertisers who predominantly use TV can use radio to give a local flavour to their campaigns. Advertisers who primarily use newspapers can use radio to give a “smart personality” to their brands. Radio is poised at that interesting cusp – when people who work in good radio companies can grow their careers much faster than they can in comparison to TV and print companies. Radio is truly a sexy medium!

  • INMA 2011: Readership, Rate Cards & a small newspaper’s success

    By Tuhina Anand

On Day 1 of INMA-5th South Asia Annual Conference, there was a CEO Roundtable which saw discussion on the topic: ‘Have we reached an end to readership growth?’ The session was moderated by Bhaskar Das, President, The Times of India Group and on the panel were Sanjay Gupta, Director, CEO and Editor, Jagran Prakashan Ltd, KN Tilak Kumar, Joint Managing Directorand Editor, Deccan Herald, Shahrukh Hasan, Group Managing Director, Jang Group Pakistan and Tariq Ansari, MD, Mid-Day Multimedia Ltd.

Mr Das started the session by saying that it’s a known fact that the newspaper business is undergoing challenging times and one of them is about finding a balance between a content that caters to a diverse age group at many Indian homes and remaining relevant. He also remarked that if one is bothered about physical readership when a consumer is accessing media through various touch points, shouldn’t virtual readership also be considered? He also questioned the merit of measurement vis -a-vis frequency and periodicity.

Mr Ansari said, “The truth is that the readership of urban English newspaper has reached a plateau and the growth in terms of numbers in SEC C and D but the question is if that category is also the one which advertisers would be interested in and then the answer becomes doubtful.”

The session also looked at growing readership in a new market with an old product as well as raised question on the need to show yoy growth of readership where in actuality it should be yoy growth of advertiser?

In all this grim scenario, Titak Kumar of DH brought the example of Karnataka language daily which has been seeing growth since both income and literacy levels have gone up.

Another staggering point that gives players to think about is the pricing of a newspaper. While in India, the you can get a newspaper even at Rs 1.50, Shahrukh Hasan from Jang Group pointed that in Pakistan the paper would cost anywhere between Rs 15-23 and yet not cover its production cost.

The idea that emerged was to innovate and seize the opportunity in the industry today. Also if multiple touch points is the new reality how does one update, upgrade and monetize from these various platforms.

In another session, the panel discussed, ‘The Advertising Challenge: Space Selling in the Age of Multiple Platforms and Vanishing Rate Card’. On the panel were, Ambika Srivastava, Chairperson, ZenithOptimedia and Vivaki Exchange, Bijou Kurien, President and Chief Executive, Lifestyle, Reliance Retail, Jayen Mehta, GM, Marketing, Gujarat, Co-Operative Milk Marketing Federation, Rohit Gupta, President, Sony Entertainment Television, Bhaskar Das, President, The Times of India Group and Aritra Sarkar, VP, Strategy, ABP Pvt Ltd.

The panel discussed if the rates cards have a value and Ms Srivastava endorsed this view along with Bhaskar Das though he differed that the rate card can be in different format and packaged differently to create a value proposition. Mr Gupta however giving the TV industry side of the story was of the opinion that in his industry rate cards doesn’t apply as the window of opportunity is less in television and rates vary from deal to deal and client to client.

There was another session on ‘Good Editorial Content and Credibility are Good Business Also’  where Harisvansh, Chief Editor, Prabhat Khabar took the audience on the journey of success of the newspaper which is through doing hard hitting, pro people stories that have brought transformation in the lives of a common man. For them its trust and credibility that has paid off and just like Indian Captain MSD who is also from Ranchi like Prabhat Khabar both have emerged victorious by being dependable.

  • [LOOKBACK 2011] Filmwallahs dominate endorsements

    By Ritu Midha

Debate on the extent to which celebrities contribute to enhancement of a brand’s image continues. The scale, however, seems to be tilted in the favour of celebrities with a number of big brands and organizations continuing to use them – to the extent that on occasion the same brand, at the same time is using multiple celebrities: Katrina Kaif, Shilpa Shetty, Sonakshi Sinha and Bipasha Basu in one Pantene ad is the first example that comes to mind.

The percentage of film stars endorsing brands has gone down this year, and that of sports personalities has increased. However, in the top 10 brands using celebrities for endorsement, Pepsi is the only brand that uses sports celebrities extensively.  A look at the top 10 advertisers using celebrities also tells a similar story:

The absence of sports personalities from these brands’ ads might be due to the category they belong to. However, as compared to same period last year, Jan- Sept 2011 has seen a 7 per cent jump in endorsements by sports personalities. TV actors and actresses endorsing brands has also increased by 1 per cent each – though it does not amount to much, considering the miniscule number of television actors that really do endorsements. Interestingly, 76 per cent endorsements are still done by film stars despite a 10 per cent dip over the previous year.

The table below lists the share of the pie endorsed by film, sports and TV personalities.

Moving now to individual celebrities, Shahrukh Khan’s movies may have not really broken box office records of late – but it has by no means undermined his position as the leading celebrity endorser/brand ambassador (as can be seen in the table below). He is closely followed by Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor. The only two non-film personalities in the top 10 are (yes, guessed it right) MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar.

  • [LOOKBACK 2011] The Year for GECs

    By Ritu Midha

One-upmanship among the General Entertainment Channels (GECs) continues. While the top slot, for now, seems to be reserved for Star Plus, number 2 slot is now occupied by Sony. The tough fight between the channels has definitely benefited the viewer, who gets to see differentiated content now.  It is appointment viewing all the way – with viewers happily surfing from channel to channel, depending on the shows being shown at a specific time slot.  With a number of new shows hitting television at the same time – multiple show viewing at the same time (sampling) too is quite common – which is likely to reduce once the programme loyalty sets in.

The top 10 shows in GECs include three reality shows (including the top slot). And the 10th slot is occupied by Cricket (Doordarshan). This effectively indicates that only six of the top ten shows for 2011 (first 11 months) were fiction shows.

    Channels : Hindi GEC
    Period : Wk 1 to 50,2011

Perhaps, the picture would be bit different if one looked at the entire year, with quite a few new shows like Kuch to Log Kahenge,  Diya Aur Baati Hum, Hitler didi and Bade Acche Lagte Haen settling down.  Interestingly – none of the four is a classic saas bahu drama.

As for the reality shows, only KBC and Big Boss (Finale) could find a place in top 10 – however others too brought in reasonable numbers for the channel. A quick look at them is here:

    Source: TAM Media Research
    TG: CS 4+yrs
    Market: HSM
    Channels : Hindi GEC
    Period : Wk 1 to 50,2011

Now a look at the average TVR of the channels -If one looks at GEC viewership for the first 11 months, Star Plus rules as numero uno, with Colors at number two and ZEE and Sony rubbing shoulders at number 3:

    Source : TAM Media Research

    Period : Jan – Nov 2011

    TG : CS4+
    Market : HSM
    Period : Wk 1 to 50,2011

However, if one breaks the data by month, it becomes the story of Sony’s steady climb through the year. The channel got it right post KBC. Its numbers did not dip as was being anticipated – but the new shows it brought in have, in fact, consolidated its positions as the number two GEC.  Multi Screen Media with two channels in top 5 GEC, and MAX too going strong is doing well for itself. It would be interesting to watch if Star One in it its new avatar – Life OK proves to be a threat.

  • [LOOKBACK 2011] The Year for News TV

    By Ritu Midha

Anna Hazare got the largest percentage share as far as the news channels go. The other top stories of the year 2011 were Cricket World Cup 2011, 2GScam. Interestingly post these comes Zodiac Forecast, which is two rungs above IPL coverage. Here is a list of top 10 new stories by percentage share:

Source: Source: News Content Track – A service of TAM Media Research Pvt. Ltd

Channels: Aaj Tak, CNN IBN, Headlines Today, IBN 7, India TV, NDTV 24/7, NDTV India, Star News, Times Now, News 24 & Zee News
    Period: Jan – Nov, 2011

Note : Analysis is based on the Telecast duration

If one looks at data from 2001, the Lokpal Bill at its peak was the second most watched news in 11 years – second only to the Mumbai Terror Attacks:

News, interestingly is the fastest expanding genre with eight new news channels being launched (excluding regional languages) till week 50, 2011: 7 in Hindi and 1 in English.

Even if on e looks at year on year growth – news is one of the fastest growing genres:

With the first quarter of 2012 seeing assembly elections including heavyweights like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab – and Lokpal Bill still in the eye of the storm – the share of news channels is expected to grow.

  • [LOOKBACK 2011] What creative & media agencies won

    By Ritu Midha

A slew of international and national advertising and media awards dot the year. Agencies bag a prize, are written about, and in a few days, it is business as usual. The next set of awards comes up, another agency tops the chart, and the same cycle begins all over again.

There are, however, agencies which garner awards consistently, across the award shows. Sometimes a few make a mark on the national awards scene, but don’t win so many accolades in international shows or it can happen the other way round.

The year 2011 had a few interesting ups and downs: BBDO which managed to bag 14 awards globally, got just three within India. Contract which got 16 within the country,  got just two globally. Mindshare won 27 awards nationally and one globally, Maxus had a score of 21 and one respectively.

However, in the case of creative agencies, most national award winners have done well internationally too. (Perhaps the lesser number of global media awards has something to do with it!)

Below is a quick look at how the key winners in national awards did globally, and in a few cases, how the ones which did very well globally, did in the national scene.

  • [LOOKBACK 2011] Top TV & Print Advertisers

    By Ritu Midha

Slowdown, as a term, might have the highest recall value for media owners in the year 2011 – more so in the case of print. Interestingly, while there would have been a dip in advertising spends in terms of value, advertising volume has in fact increased over the previous year. And even more interestingly volume growth has been higher for print media:

When one moves to the top 10 advertisers for the year 2011 on television, the list seems more or less similar for 2010 and 2011, though the ranking has, of course, changed.

Two advertisers from last year which are missing this year are Auro Foods and Sehgal Sons – both with 1 percent share.

Is the situation similar for Print? Let’s check it out: Two new entrants for 2011 are Geetanjali Gems and TVC Skyshop. The ones missing from last year are SBI and Dell Computers.

As for the advertising categories, there are quite a few surprises when compared to the previous year, as far as television goes: Washing powders & liquids, number two category in 2010, is not in top 10 this year. Social advertisement, no 5 last, is top of the heap this year. Have a look at the tables for 2011 and 2010:

On to print. The top five categories remain the same with just a position switch in rank in number four and five. However, there are two new entrants on eight and nine – pipping to the post the categories at those positions in 2010. Educational institutions, top category for both the years – shows a 1 percent jump in share:

  • 2012 for Taurus

Being health-conscious is not new for you, but this may become a passion now, indicates Ganesha. Your sincere attempts to maintain a healthy lifestyle will yield positive results, more than ever, in the year 2012! To help you further, stars will ease off all health-related issues in 2012. Finances, career, love, spirituality and social welfare are other areas that will remain in focus. This year also heralds a prosperous time for bulls, thanks to the optimistic planet Jupiter. Travel, family time, joyous occasions – the truly good things in life will be on offer! Cash inflow will be more than decent, and an inheritance may also be in the offing. You may even be able to arrange funds for your ambitious ventures. Splurging on attaining the luxuries of life is also on the cards. Do guard against over-spending and rash behaviour, though. Love life and family may become a cause of stress. And your inability to handle delicate situations tactfully may worsen the situation, warns Ganesha. Try and resolve conflicts, rather than adding fuel to them. Marrying in 2012 is not a good idea.

    Home and Family Life

The stars suggest that there are going to be no major changes on the domestic front in the year 2012. Yet, even if things don’t take a turn for the better, they will not change for the worse either, assures Ganesha.  From May 6 to 14, your family planet, the Sun, will be travelling with Jupiter. This is a favourable aspect. You may look to renovate or expand your current home, or may also move to another home for good. The days between July 22 and August 22, and between September 6 and October 5 are favourable days for home and family matters. At the time of solar eclipses, though, some problems and misunderstandings may resurface in your personal life. Rein in your anger at the times of family disagreements or conflicts to steer clear of any major issues later.

    Love and Social Life

Sometimes the weight of expectations in relationships becomes too much to bear, muses Ganesha. And it may pull you down this year. But then, there are no free lunches in this world. Each relationship comes with its perks and demands. Face the responsibilities with courage, and if need be discuss things candidly. Such heart-to-heart chats can give your relationship a new lease of life. Make sure you reach the root cause of your conflicts, and work together with your beloved to uproot it completely. Such an approach will help you sail though the year on a high note. Saturn will enter your 7th House, that is the House of love and marriage, towards the end of the year 2012. This could be a tricky phase, and you will need to be very patient and careful in matters of heart and esteem. Your social standing matters a lot to you, and you would do well to guard it at all times.

    Health

In the year 2012, your aim will be improving your health and fitness in a holistic way. Your 6th House, the House of health, indicates that matters related to health are going to be in focus during the year 2012. However, you are advised to not make a mountain out of a molehill, when it comes to health related issues. There may be times when you’ll feel tired or stressed out. You may also fall sick. But, there is nothing to worry; you need not hit the panic button, assures Ganesha. All major long-term planets are, for a good part of the year, in a good aspect and when they are not, they wil hardly affect you by their positions. All in all, barring few problems, your health throughout the year is likely to be good.

    Career and Finance

Money may pour in from many directions in 2012. Moreover, your business decisions may turn out to be lucrative and give your better than expected results. In the year 2012, your career planet is going to be in your 12th House. This planetary position indicates that you will continue to stay focused on your career for a long time. However, increasing your bank balance and achieving targets should not be your only consideration, says Ganesha. Rather, you should do something for society, too. While you are likely to have smooth sailing on the financial front, a few matters related to your career may give you some sleepless nights. You may want choose a career option that would allow you more freedom. A business venture or a freelance project may fit the bill.

  • 2012 for Gemini

In 2012, Ganesha nods at your never-say-die spirit! You may have had some really tough challenges to face in the past few years. If not, then at least some major life-altering adjustments may have taken up your time and energy. Expect things to improve. In 2012, Neptune enters your 10th House. This will boost your spirituality and faith. Matters related to body, health, your personal image, creativity, family and mystical sciences shall be of great interest to you. Barring a few minor issues, your health is likely to be good throughout the year. Don’t be complacent, though! Expect prosperity to get a boost mid-year, thanks to Jupiter. You will have money to spend on the luxuries of life. You may be looking at renovating your living space or may even be re-thinking a relationship. If a friend/ relative is taking up a lot of your time, it’s time to say ‘me first’. Do that and bid them a goodbye, says Ganesha! Guard you and your loved ones against minor accidents. You may also see love and work intermingling. Enjoy!

    Home and Family Life

Your 4th House of home and family shall remain strong for a better part of the year 2012; not for the whole year, though. Mars hovers in this House for a pretty long duration – for over six months from January 1 to July 3. This means that you will undertake a thorough overhauling of your home. Whatever it is, it will keep you happily on your toes. However, your domestic life may become tumultuous during the period when Mars transits over your sign. Tempers will run high in the household, and if you don’t take charge of things in a mature way, it may lead to conflicts. An elderly person or a parent may not have been keeping well. Advise this person to calm down. Keep away dangerous objects like matches, knives, or inflammable material from you and your loved ones. But rest assured that things will be happy and endings will be happier, especially if you are ready to go an extra mile, sums up Ganesha.

    Love and Social Life

Love is most certainly on the cards this year for you. There are signs in your horoscope that strongly indicate a gradual building up of your love and social life, even though your 7th House of love and marriage is rather weak. Two vital planetary movements are indicated this year for your sign. Jupiter (your love planet) will be passing through your ascendant, and will foray into the 1st House on June 11. For the remaining year, it will continue to remain in your 1st House. This strongly portends love. Besides that, Venus (the generic love planet) will hover above your zodiac for a rather lengthy period. Usually, Venus spends around a month in any sign, but in your case, it’s staying put from April 3 to August 7. It is yet another strong sign of love present or blossoming in all its glory. From June 11 to August 7, both the love planets in your charts will remain in your own sign. So, you can be sure that love, perhaps even marriage, will happen this year.

    Health

Health of Gemini this year should be satisfactory. The aspect of most of the long-term planets looks set to be harmonious. At the most, they will leave you untouched. An unfavourable aspect made by Neptune, though, may stress you out briefly. Besides that, there may be passing phases during the year, resulting from general planetary transits, during which you may feel a little under the weather. But you need not worry about these bouts, because they do not indicate trends, and are only temporary.

    Career and Finance

You may look forward to a financially progressive year, during which you’ll see an augmentation in your wealth, earnings and even the value of your property. The results may not be drastically visible in the first half of the year. But, post June 11, your prosperous phase will set in and will continue into the following year, confirms Ganesha. In the first week of June Jupiter enters your sign, bringing with it a lot of optimism. People usually mistake wealth for a load of money, whereas it is actually the lifestyle and a general ease with which you go about your work, business or money-related tasks. As far as your career is concerned, matters seem to be a bit more complex, though. Rein in your own expectations from your career.

  • 2012 for Cancer

If you managed to handle events of the last year decently, things will seem easy in comparison in 2012. Expect the year to get better as it progresses towards the latter half, says Ganesha. All said and done, you still need to take a good care of yourself, your health and your loved ones. Health will improve this year, thanks to Neptune’s favourable aspect with your sign, yet you can’t afford to be careless. Home, family, love, spirituality, as always, will surely remain at the centre of your universe, yet you may now see yourself trying to enhance your social network too. Travelling to foreign lands and higher education are distinct possibilities. Personal growth, development and creativity will also take centre-stage. Ganesha cautions you against getting complacent in financial and legal matters, though. Family matters may become burdensome. Ganesha advises you to take up a hobby to get a break from your mundane life. Some unique challenges may also be lined up for your sign this year. Express yourself, wherever needed! Any upheaval in your love life will have a positive bearing in the long run.

    Home and Family

Your domestic life is likely to go through a lot of ups and downs in 2012. But don’t let the negativity affect you, if you wish to successfully deal with the challenges. You are not an expressive person and this usually becomes your disadvantage. Your bottled-up emotions can be a lot more destructive than you can imagine. But there’s only so much you can bottle up, and one day your heart may just refuse to contain anything more. Thus, you need to express your emotions in a mature way, without hurting anyone, and perhaps also channelize your negativity in different ways. Try taking up a hobby or sweating it out on the badminton court. Saturn exits your 4th House on October 5, bringing great relief on the home front. The worst will be over by then, and you will make great progress from here on, assures Ganesha.

    Love and Social Life

Last year may have been quite challenging for your love life. If your relationship has survived that, there are strong indications that you will easily sail through the problems, if any, in 2012. Some problems simmering under the surface may come to fore now. Be ready to deal with them upfront, rather than avoiding them. As always, you will remain in love with your home, and your respect for your immediate/ extended family may increase with time. Single crabs may find someone special, and this may finally end their quest for a perfect companion. However, marriage will have to wait, and it’s best to do that; wait and watch, says Ganesha.

    Health

Throughout the year ahead, you will be extremely busy with household work, socialization and career matters. All of that may adversely affect your energy levels. Don’t take you health for granted. Any major health issue is not indicated, yet you cannot afford to become complacent. In fact, make extra efforts to be fit, as a healthy body and mind will guard you against plenty of ailments. Don’t bottle up your emotions; express them candidly as this will help you vent out your feelings. You will feel lighter and relaxed, as a result.

    Finance and Career

In 2012, your earning capacity will be correlated with your energy levels. So improve your health and energy levels in order to improve your finances. From July 23 to August 22, and then again from September 6 to October 3 your money House will be strong – first, because the Sun transits through it, and also because during this period Venus passes through it. These are the two time periods when your earning potential will be at a peak. As for your career, it may not create a definite trend in the coming year. Those of you who were born early in the sign of Cancer would have experienced many career-related upheavals last year, and Ganesha advises you to brace up for more. You may feel disappointed with your current career, and may choose to opt for something that would give you more freedom.
