  • Colors joins hands with Laadli as Cause Partner

    Laadli, the flagship campaign by Population First for gender sensitivity, has announced various initiatives including the popular awards for communicating gender sensitive and women empowerment issues. to raise awareness and work together on various initiatives relating to uplifting and empowerment of women. It has inked an MoU with general entertainment channel Colors for the same. The Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity (LMAAGS), for instance, recognisees and celebrate the efforts of the media and advertising community to promote gender sensitivity in India.

     

    Speaking at the launch, S V Sista, veteran adperson and founder and Executive Trustee, Population First said, “Over the last few years LMAAGS has set a benchmark for the media in the space of gender sensitive reporting of women. We thank the media for their continuous support towards this cause. The LMAAGS was instituted to salute this spirit in the space of gender sensitivity, thus celebrating the power of media. Our partnership with Colors this year will further augment the cause that we all stand for.”

     

    Speaking at the launch, Raj Nayak, CEO – Hindi Mass Entertainment, Viacom 18 said, “Gender equality and women empowerment are tangible issues faced by our country today. Associating with Population First for Laadli Media Awards is a step towards this direction. As we steadily move towards increasing and improving the rights and security of women, it’s heartening to know that there is a section of the media and advertising industry that is working diligently towards rehabilitation of the affected strata of our society.”

     

    According to Dr A L Sharada, Director, Population First, “From a mere 100 entries in 2007 to more than 1500 entries in 2015, Laadli Media Awards have come a long way in acknowledging the media’s contribution in women empowerment and gender issues. The increasing volume of discussion in public domain on gender issues is an indication that we are witnessing the beginnings of change. This year, too, we hope to see a quantum leap in the number of entries of Laadli Media Awards.”

     

    The last date for receiving entries is December 15, 2016, and the awards will be announced soon thereafter.

     

  • M&C Saatchi Mobile debuts in India

    Full-service mobile media agency M&C Saatchi Mobile has made its debut in India. It has set up offices in New Delhi and Bengaluru. The company begins operations with two flagship clients – Ola and Swiggy.

     

    The move to India has given the mobile media company a footprint into a market with enormous potential for growth. Said M&C Saatchi Mobile CEO James Hilton: “The inauguration of our offices in New Delhi and Bengaluru is a landmark moment in our history. We know there is huge opportunity in this market and being able to provide our existing client with support in their local market has always been our client servicing goal.”

     

    The agency has hired Harry Bajaj as Business Strategist to head its New Delhi operations and Gaurav Ahuja as Business Manager to head the office in Bengaluru. Both will report into Chris Steedman, APAC, Managing Director, M&C Saatchi Mobile.

     

    Commenting on the new hires, Steedman said: “As a forward-thinking, mobile first media agency, we believe in hiring the brightest minds in the industry. Since India presents us with unique opportunities, it was but natural for us to hire experts who understand the pulse of the country.”

     

  • Reliance Entertainment invests in digital media company – FunOnGo LLP

    The Anil D Ambani-led Reliance Entertainment announced a new venture in a digital media content and distribution company called ‘FunOnGo Media & Entertainment LLP’.  Founded by Vijay Singh and Ujjwal Narayan, the company launched, its first called ‘Chillx’.

     

    Chillx is an entertainment-based platform aimed at placing the power of choice in the hands of consumers. The Androdi app will give consumers choice in languages, entertainment formats, genres as well as payment mechanisms.

     

    Said Sweta Agnihotri, CEO – Content Syndication, Reliance Entertainment- about Chillx; “While apps downloaded are mostly in line with global popularity, interest in content consumption in regional language is high. We see smartphone screen as a fantastic gateway to the consumer and our cross functional team will leverage its understanding of content and industry relationships to amplify value offering to the consumer.” The app is a digital entertainment departmental store that curates a mix of games, music, viral videos & clips, entertainment news, short films & full length movies.

  • Chrome DM unveils Chrome Rate Impact Calculator for broadcasters

    Chrome Data Analytics and Media has launched the Chrome Rate Impact Calculator for broadcasters and distribution service providers, to analyse the impact of TRAI’s latest recommendation at a market, network and Channel level vis-à-vis the Broadcaster’s current deals.

     

    Designed to interpret TRAI’s recent Tariff Order, the calculator uses Chrome DM’s proprietary tools to layer the Network-wise/Channel-wise viewership and project the off-take of channels at a household level.

     

    Chrome Data Analytics & Media, being a central industry body, with over 450 broadcasters availing its Distribution Audit Services, aims to simplify the understanding of the impact of the TRAI recommendations on the Net Revenue earned by broadcasters.

     

    With the CRIC, the broadcaster will be able to access the following insights:

  • Virat Kohli endorses new brand message for Manyavar

    Retail chain Manyavar has launched its new ad campaign with Virat Kohli. Titled ‘Aadha-Aadha’, it captures the essence of marriage that is all about ‘sharing’.

     

    The campaign features Virat Kohli as a new-age groom sitting with his parents, who emphasises that the expenses of the wedding function will be borne equally both by the bride’s and the groom’s side. The ad questions the age-old concept that wedding functions should be organised and financed by the bride’s family only.

     

    The new campaign consists of different creatives showcasing the new colours and designs created exclusively for this wedding season.

  • MY FM’s RJ Viny bags AIB Award in London

    RJ Viny, host of the breakfast show – Salaam Indore, emerged as the Radio Personality of the Year at the Association of International Broadcasters in London. With this award she became the only Indian RJ and MY FM the first Indian radio station to be recognised at AIB.

     

    AIB with members from Radio FreeEurope, Radio Liberty, Radio New Zealand International, Radio Romania International, Radio Taiwan International, BBC World News, Al Jazeera, Capital FM, Bloomberg, and such reputed media organisations selected RJ Viny, giving the country its first AIB award – Radio Personality of the year.

  • Manasi Kadne joins Publicis Capital as ECD

  • Rediff creates ‘Cinema for All. All for Cinema’ campaign for Kolkata Film Fest

    After awarding the creative mandate to Rediffusion Y&R, the Kolkata Film Festival gave the brief of communicating how cinema brings people closer and together.  The agency then came up with a campaign idea ‘Cinema for All. All for Cinema’.  The agency initiated a contest on the social media requesting people to share their very own pictures so as to be a part of the KIFF 2016, thus accounting all those received images the campaign creative has been created.

     

    The 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival begins today (November 11) and will be on till November 18. Said Dhunji S Wadia, President – Rediffusion Y&R: “We have some really interesting campaign work coming out of this association. We are looking forward towards this eventful week ahead.”

     

    Added Nilanjan Dasgupta, Executive Creative Director – Rediffusion Y&R: “Since the brief was about human integration and cinema, our core idea was to involve the common people in the campaign. So we did a Facebook activation where we asked them to send selfies based on expressions of different film genres and then we made images of film icons with the selfies.   • Laadli kickstarts 16 days of gender based activism campaign

    Laadli, an initiative by Population Firs, has released a ‘16 days of activism campaign’. The campaign which underlines the annual observance of ‘16 Days of activism against Gender Based Violence’ focuses on the theme – ‘Life of sexual minorities in India’ and encourages everyone to contribute their thoughts and views in the form of short films, poetry, blogs, short stories, posters anything that focuses on sexualities in our country.

     

    According to Dr A L Sharada, Director-Population First, “Sexual minorities in India are misunderstood and subjected to violence and discrimination. We aim to break the stigma around sexualities while creating spaces for discussion and sharing of experiences.”

     

    The 16 days of activism against gender based violence campaign targets the lesser addressed section of the society – sexual minorities which includes the LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual) communities. All entries will have to be sent before December 1, 2016.

     

    The campaign will culminate with the showcase of 16 selected prizewinners in an event in Mumbai on December 10, the day for International Human Rights.
