  • Announcing: The 2022 MxMIndia Mediaperson of the Year

    By A Correspondent

It’s August 3, and 135 days to December 16, the day when we will announce the 2022 MxMIndia Mediaperson of the Year.

So who do you think will it be? Will it be an entity like we had last year, or is there someone or a group of people who could win the award this year. We have a partial shortlist ready, but it’s still early days. We invite readers readers to send us their nominations or suggestions of names. Nominations are welcome till Friday, December 2, 2022. Please send them directly to pradyuamanm [at] mxmindia.com. Your name and reasons, if any, will be kept confidential.

As our readers are aware, over the last few years, the MxMIndia Mediaperson of the Year has earned the reputation of being the most credible barometer of the highest performer(s) in the fields of advertising, media and marketing in India in a calendar year.

Realising that many award shows are held at the end of the year and hence there is a tendency to only recall and accord importance to those who make an impact in the latter part of the year. MxMIndia instituted a process where we reviewed people and entities through the year by having periodic reviews and compiling the various high performers at the end of June. We didn’t do that too often last year, but this we did.

Last year’s winner of the accolade was The Wire. In 2020, it was the Independent Journalist. In 2019, it was Sidharth Rao for mainstreaming digital in creative advertising. In 2018, it was Piyush Pandey and in the previous year, it was Arnab Goswami for the launch of Republic TV. In 2016, we had Dentsu Aegis Network South Asia CEO Ashish Bhasin and for 2015 it was the BARC India core team of Punit Goenka, Shashi Sinha and Partho Dasgupta. That was the first year we gave away the award, virtually of course.

As we said earlier, this year, the award will be presented online (on MxMIndia) on Friday, December 16, 2022. Wait for it.

  • Ayushmann Khurrana is brand ambassador for Titan Eye+

    By Our Staff

Titan Eye+ has launched a new integrated campaign with its brand ambassador Ayushmann Khurrana. The ‘Expert Who Cares’ campaign, created by Ogilvy, focuses on the consumer’s approach to buying eyewear and aims to make them aware of the important aspects of the process.

Commenting on the new campaign, Maneesh Krishnamurthy, Marketing Head EyeCare Division, Titan Company Ltd. said: “Today, consumers restrict their questions to style and price while purchasing eyewear and our new campaign is born out of the desire to change this very perspective. We had very serious questions to ask, what better way than to ask it disarmingly with a child’s innocence. The brand promise of Titan Eye+ is Expertise & Empathy and through the ‘Experts Who Cares’ campaign we take that conversation forward. Titan Eye+ insists that only qualified optometrists test eyes through our unique 20-step eye test as well as recommend the correct eye care for each consumer’s needs.”

Added Puneet Kapoor, CCO, Ogilvy Bengaluru: “With this campaign, Titan Eye+ champions a behavioral insight in the category which is an eye-opener for most seasoned spectacle wearers. The entire category is so heavily dominated, only by the style conversation, that the conversation around accurate vision correction is diluted. While style is important, and we have frames that have won enough design awards, the conversation around accurate testing and accurate prescription needs to be rescued from the blind spot it sits in right now. That’s where this campaign scores and gets the right balance in the conversation we need to have.”

  • Das ka Dum with Dr Bhaskar Das | Isn’t it unfortunate that issues around gender parity in media (or the need for more of it) still need to get discussed in industry forums?

Bhaskar DasPertinent question, we thought, but as he does very often, Dr Bhaskar Das simply shot it off the park. Here’s the August 4 edition of Das ka Dum. Read on…

If you wish to access the archives, please go to the Das Ka Dum tab on the website’s top navigation bar.

    Q. Isn’t it unfortunate that issues around gender parity in media (or the need for more of it) still need to get discussed in industry forums?

    A. Why unfortunate? If the consciousness about gender parity has reached a saturation, then why is India Inc still so far from reaching an optimal level on the subject? And that’s why there have to be sustained deliberations on the same. Any significant shift in cultural mores in a male-dominated society needs time and hence reinforcement of the concept needs to be harped on at various forums.
