  • YuppTV announces content partnership with NDTV Group

    YuppTV, the leading Over-The-Top (OTT) provider for Indian content, has announced its partnership with the NDTV Group. Under the move, YuppTV subscribers will be able to view the four channels – NDTV India (Hindi), NDTV 24×7 (English) and NDTV Profit /Prime (Business) and NDTV Good Times anytime, anywhere.

     

    The four channels of NDTV can be accessed by users on www.yupptv.com from outside India and www.yupptv.in from India, or by downloading the YuppTV app on their smart phones, smart TVs,smart Blu-ray players, streaming media players, tablets and gaming consoles. The move took the number of channelson YuppTV’s platform to 16, adding to its current repository of 200+ Indian TV Channels in 13 languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, Oriya, Gujarati, Sinhala, Urdu and Bangla.

  • Damon Johnson appointed SVP – Business Development at YuppTV

    YuppTV has announced the appointment of Damon S Johnson as Senior Vice President – Business Development. As part of his new role, Damon will – lead the development of distribution partnerships and explore, and build new content and entertainment options for the burgeoning over-the-top (OTT) internet TV market.

     

    Damon Johnson brings with him over two decades of valuable industry experience having worked in the industry’s leading organizations as an executive responsible for building digital businesses. Most recently, Damon Johnson was at PlayStation where he led Sony’s efforts to build an OTT entertainment platform. As an early believer in OTT, he joined PlayStation to establish the Media and Entertainment group where he successfully led a team that negotiated with Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Redbox Instant by Verizon, HBOGO, EPIX, Disney, ESPN, DirecTV, DISH, NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL to build the industry’s leading OTT platform on PS4, PS3, VITA and VITA TV. Prior to PlayStation, he was responsible for building the digital media division for Fox Sports in Latin America.

  • YuppTV receives investment of Rs 16 cr from Sashi Reddi

    Entrepreneur and angel investor Sashi Reddi has invested $2.5 Million (approx Rs 16 crore) in Hyderabad and Atlanta-based internet TV provider YuppTV for a 10 percent stake in the company. This values YuppTV at $25 Million (approx Rs 160 crore). With access to 170 live Indian TV channels and a large movie library, YuppTV now boasts of five million visitors every month.

     

    According to a communiqué, Mr Reddi will join the board and work closely with founder and CEO of YuppTV, Uday Reddy, in building the company to $100 Million revenue in the next three years. YuppTV currently competes with satellite and cable TV operators offering Indian content. Its primary target markets are Indians living in North America, Europe, and Australia. YuppTV clocked revenues of $11 Million (approx. Rs. 70 crores) in 2013. It grew over 100% year-on-year for the last two years.

     

    “I believe that YuppTV is the most dynamic media company to emerge out of India.
