  • SPN partners with Facebook to telecast LaLiga in India

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has partnered with Facebook to telecast the Spanish top division football league, LaLiga, on TV in India this season. With this deal, over 100 selected matches will be telecast on SPN;s sports channels, including the key clashes, El Clasico and Madrid Derby. All matches will still be available for free on Facebook.

     

    Said Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer Distribution and Head – Sports, Sony Pictures Networks India said: “We have been committed to LaLiga for the past four years and we are excited to continue our partnership with one of the best football leagues in the world. This confirms our commitment to be the premier football destination for all viewers.   • SPN unveils #KoiKasarNahi campaign for 18th Asian Games

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has announced its marketing and digital initiatives for the just-started 18th Asian Games 2018. The Games are currently being held in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang and on till Septmeber 2.

     

    As part of the campaign, SPN will be hosting a Fan Flame on its microsite. Inspired by the Asian Games torch that burns in the cauldron for the duration of the Games, the virtual Fan Flame will burn brighter with every message of support that goes out to the athletes. To show support, all fans have to do is use the hashtag #KoiKasarNahi on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and post their inspirational and supportive messages to the athletes. Each post will appear on the digital fan flame and will be sent to our athletes.

  • Aditya Mehta elevated to Head – Corporate Strategy at SPN

    Sony Pictures Networks India has announced a change of role for Aditya Mehta, elevating him as Head – Corporate Strategy.

     

    In his new role, Mehta will plan and manage the development and review of all aspects of business strategy at SPN in delivering performance that creates long-term value and sustainable growth. Key aspects of the role would include strategic roadmap for the long-term and implementation of it, identifying business growth opportunities and business expansion (organic or inorganic), evaluating operating plans for each business unit and monitoring execution of key milestones.

     

     

  • Sony acquires exclusive media rights from ECB

    Sony Pictures Networks India has acquired exclusive media rights from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for the Indian subcontinent for a period of five years starting in 2018 through 2022.

     

    This agreement with ECB gives SPN the rights to both televise and digitally broadcast within the Indian subcontinent, men’s and women’s international matches, including Test matches, T20 Internationals and ODIs, played in England.

     

    With this acquisition, SPN’s exclusive cricket portfolio includes most of the major international cricket boards, namely, Cricket Australia, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Pakistan Cricket Board, Sri Lanka Cricket, Cricket South Africa, Cricket West Indies and Zimbabwe Cricket Board.

    “The acquisition of media rights of ECB for a five-year term, effective now through 2022, provides for some exciting cricket viewership. Cricket is a passion for most Indians and this term of ECB games includes three tours of the Indian cricket team which promises some thrilling cricket, the first of these coming close on the heels of the hugely exciting South Africa series. SPN will now be home to almost all international away series giving our fans a one-stop destination to view their favourite stars in action. We remain committed to building a multi-sports culture in India and we will lead sports broadcast action during June to September 2018 by airing FIFA for football fans and ECB games for cricket lovers.”

     

     

  • Sony LIV crafts a short film in association with IndiaFirst Life Insurance

    Sony LIV has crafted a new short film for India First Life Insurance. The promotional film titled ‘Tera Mera Pyaar Amar’ is said to be a humorous take on life after death and how the protagonist makes sure he protects his family’s future in his absence.

  • Sony Pix inks movie content deal with Warner Bros

    Sony Pix has signed a content licensing deal with Warner Bros International Television Distribution. The movie content deal will strengthen the channel’s library by bringing films like Harry Porter, Matrix, Batman Vs Superman, Dunkirk, Wonder Woman, Hangover Series, Conjuring Universe, Final Destination series, Oceans Series, Shawshank Redemption, and many more, for its viewers.

  • Sony Pictures rebrands sports bouquet with Sachin Tendulkar as brand ambassador

    In a country where cricket rules more than any other sport, Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) announced Sachin Tendulkar as its Ambassador for Sports, as it grouped its sports brands together under the business vertical – Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN).

     

    With the addition of two new HD channels, SONY TEN 2 HD and SONY TEN 3 HD, the network now has 11 channels in its fold.

     

    Interestingly, the contract for the tournament that got the the broadcast network into the big league in sports a decade back is now up for renewal.

  • SPN urges fans to reserve their seats for India-WI Series

    The sports cluster of Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) has launched its ‘Better Save Your Seat Man’ campaign for the ongoing India tour of West Indies.

     

    The concept behind the ‘Better Save Your Seat Man’ campaign is to highlight how cricket is relished and played in West Indies.

     

    Said Rajesh Kaul, President, Distribution and Sports Business, Sony Pictures Networks India:“The ’Better Save Your Seat Man’ campaign has been crafted to echo the ethos of cricket against the backdrop of the Caribbean region. This series is the commencement of premier cricketing action in the second half of the year. Our viewers will also get a to see our flagship live wraparound show Extraaa Innings that will host some of the finest names in cricket like Zaheer Khan, Ajay Jadeja, MuraliKartik, Darren Ganga and Jeff Dujon who will deliver their analyses and predictions on the show along with serving as commentators for the series.”

     

    The campaign comprises of two 45-second films that urges fans to save their seats for the cricket spectacular as India tour the West Indies.

     

  • Sony Pictures pays tributes to fans in the tenth season of VIVO IPL

    Sony Max, Sony Six and SONY ESPN, the official television broadcasters of the Indian Premiere League (VIVO IPL) have unveiled a new campaign titled “10 saal aapke naam” to coincide with the tenth edition of the tournament and the network’s association with it.

     

    The series of six ad films with the key message “10 saal aapke naam” encapsulate the fervor and madness of the fans across gender, generations and geographies.

     

    The creative agency continues to be DDB Mudra and the films have been directed by Hemant Bhandari of Chrome Pictures Media. For the anthem the broadcaster has roped in music composer duo, Salim-Sulaiman and singer Benny Dayal.

  • Sony completes 1st of 2-phase acquisition of Ten Sports

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) and its affiliates have completed the first phase of a two-phase acquisition of the TEN Sports Network from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEE) and its subsidiaries, according to communiques received from both networks.

     

    Following the completion of this phase of the acquisition, SPN’s cluster of nine sports channels will now include: Sony SIX and Sony Six HD, Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD, TEN 1, TEN 1 HD, TEN 2, TEN 3, and TEN Golf HD.

     

    Certain other operations and assets will be included in the final phase of the acquisition, subject to certain closing conditions, which is expected to be completed in the next few months.

     

    Commented NP Singh, CEO, Sony Pictures Networks India commented: “I am delighted that the teams from SPN and ZEE have completed this core phase of the transaction in good time. SPN is now equipped, better than ever, to offer its viewers premium sporting content with a sports portfolio that includes every major sport and many international as well as domestic leagues.
