  • Punit Goenka defines 5Gs of Zee 4.0

    By A Correspondent

    Punit Goenka

It’s been a horrible year-odd for Zee Enterprises. Possibly a year-and-a-half or more. But the Mumbai-based entertainment conglomerate has seen its ups and downs. Like the Hoola Loop roller-coaster ride of its amusment park Esselworld, it has sprung back. Again, and again, and again.

The results that were declared in the wee hours didn’t paint a great picture. But as one industry observer told MxMIndia, it was Operation Clean-up time at the Central Mumbai offices of the company.

Ahead of the declaration of results, Punit Goenka, the 40-something director of the entertainment biz, shared his shared his strategic vision for a new avatar of his company – labelling it Zee 4.0. Goenka laid out the future roadmap to propel the company as a premier media and entertainment powerhouse. Which it is, but it needs to get there. Soon.

In a country where leaders from the Prime Minister downwards are known to jargonise their plans, Goenka said Zee 4.0 will be implementing a 5G formula focusing on – Governance, Granularity, Growth, Goodwill and Gusto. In his letter, Goenka said that the 5G approach will define the future of the Company, as it gears up to take the next big leap.

“The start of this financial year has been a rather special one for me and the entire team at Zee. Since for us it is not just the beginning of another new year, but the beginning of an entirely new life for the Company. The beginning of a company which is transforming in line with its new realities. The beginning of a sharper, leaner, greener version of Zee. The beginning of Zee 4.0.”

In an interview with The Economic Times on Monday, Goenka was exceedingly candid about the present and the future. And how he is rebuilding the empire, virtually brick by brick.

  • Work to Live 2.0 from IAA

    By A Correspondent

The International Advertising Association (IAA) India Chapter has launched its second edition of what is well known as the Work to Live Campaign.

    Punit Goenka

Said Punit Goenka, President, IAA India Chapter: “The concept of flexi-timings for a city like Mumbai was always a good idea. Now it assumes even more importance. In fact our campaign stresses the points that while flexi-timings are a win-win situation, it must be implemented with a sense of discipline.”

    Nandini Dias

Added Nandini Dias, IAA Mancom member and CEO, Lodestar UM, India, who conceived this idea: “After a personal tragedy, I initiated WorkToLiveToWork with the hope that decongestion of the rush hour through flexi-timing will ensure that commuting becomes less fatal. Over the last two years, many corporate leaders and trade bodies have seen the concept working and adopted it. The pandemic has made social distancing a must. But with limited space, overburdened transport network, the need for flexi-timing or time distancing is an absolute must, and workplaces that adopt it will keep their workforce safer.“

  • IAA & Havas India release campaign for Bengal & Odisha

    By A Correspondent

The International Advertising Association (IAA) India Chapter has released a multimedia campaign to focus attention on the need to raise funds to rehabilitate the hapless victims of the Cyclone that caused havoc in the two States.

Said Punit Goenka, President, IAA – India Chapter: “While the entire Nation is fighting against Covid-19, Bengal and Odisha have also been battling with the impact caused due to the cyclone. We have always believed in the fact that effective communication implemented at the right time, positively generates the required change. I am very glad that the team IAA’s India Chapter along with Havas India, instantly synergized and created an impactful campaign, urging people to virtually join hands and support the rehabilitation initiatives. “.

Added Bobby Pawar Chairman & CCO Havas India: “The campaign posed a difficult challenge. How do you get people who are themselves affected by a crisis to care about the plight of those who have been struck by another? The solution was to use the very same things we find hard about our current situation and depict how much worse it is for the millions affected by the cyclone and the pandemic. IAA always rises to the occasion when there is a need and I am thankful to them for letting us be a part of this effort.”

Said Rana Barua, Group CEO, Havas India: “As a member of the IAA and a responsible part of the communications industry, it’s really up to us to create work that stirs the conscience of the world and makes people understand the true extent of this terrible situation in Bengal and Odisha. I am sure this initiative driven by the IAA and Havas will help create an impetus for people to contribute and help in the massive rehabilitation programs.
