    GroupM India has announced the appointment of Priti Murthy as President, GroupM Services India. In her new role, Murthy would also be part of the GroupM India Executive Committee. She will lead the centre of delivery excellence that comprises biddable, non-biddable, analytics and reporting. She will work closely with agencies to understand their needs, incorporating best-in-class delivery metrics with ‘improvise and improve’ as the approach to continued excellence. Murthy, who was until recently CEO of OMD India, will report to Prasanth Kumar CEO, South Asia GroupM and Jon Thurlow, COO, Asia Pacific GroupM. GroupM Services India leadership team would report to Priti.

  • Udhayakumar Pasupathi joins OMD Chennai leadership

    OMD India has onboarded Udhayakumar Pasupathi as new lead at the company’s Chennai office, reporting to Sulina Menon, Chief Client Officer, OMD India.

  • OMD bags mandate for the Pink Foundry

    OMD India has bagged the local media mandate for The Pink Foundry owned by Confira Labs – a skin-focused startup. OMD will be responsible for its launch, e-comm and digital and will handle the mandate, focused on increasing visibility and reach of the brand.

  • OMD ad turns to 1947 nostalgia for new Sony show

    Sony Entertainment Television’s recently launched show, Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye, unveiled an era bringing to life pre-Partition India in 1947. To announce the launch of this show, OMD India executed a print campaign turning back in time to give readers an experience of the era through the look and feel of the newspapers.

    Expressing his views on the campaign, Amit Raisinghani, Head – Business Planning and Communication, Sony Entertainment Television said: “Newspapers were the most preferred medium of communication back in the day. Since the show Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye is set in 1947 pre-partition India, we felt an innovative print campaign will be the most appropriate way to set the context of the show, on the day of the launch. We have received a positive feedback from the audience and the industry alike and we are confident that we’ve been able to deliver our message impactfully.”

  • Omnicom Media Group Kartik Sharma to helm Omnicom Media Group in India

    It’s now confirmed. Omnicom Media Group has appointed Kartik Sharma as CEO for its operations in India. Sharma joins the Omnicom entity from GroupM’s Wavemaker, where he was most recently CEO for South Asia. He is slated to join the network mid-year. His exit from Wavemaker was announced on Wednesday (January 29). The position was created after former OMG CEO Harish Shriyan’s exit was announced in July 2019.

     

    With over 25 years of media experience under his belt, Sharma has served in a leadership capacity at some of the largest agency networks, including Mindshare, Lintas Media, Madison Media and Maxus and managed clients such as L’Oreal, Mondelez, Netflix and Vodafone. In his new role, Sharma will work closely with Priti Murthy, CEO of OMD India, and Jyoti Bansal, CEO of PHD India, on chartering the continued growth of the agency brands in India.

     

    Speaking on the appointment, Tony Harradine, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Asia-Pacific, said in a statement: “A revered leader with an impressive track record, I am thrilled that Kartik has joined us. I have the utmost confidence in his ability to steer our business to even greater heights in one of the most important markets in Asia.”

     

    For those not in the know, Omnicom Media Group is the media agency network owned by Omnicom, the global. advertising services conglomerate. According to a report in Campaign, OMD occupies the top spot by projected billings in the COM vergence 2019 global billings rankings report. GroupM’s Mindshare is second in the ranking and Carat is #3. In India, GroupM occupies the top slot amongst media agency networks, and OMG is as of now perhaps at #5.

     

    Clearly, Sharma has his role cut out for him. He took charge of Maxus from Ajit Varghese in January 2014 and there has been no looking back since. Sharma has led both Maxus and Wavemaker to winning the coveted Agency of the Year title at the Emvies.

     

     

  • Sam Thomas is now Digital Lead at OMD India

    OMD India has strengthened the leadership of its digital offering, elevating Sam Thomas to the role of Digital Lead for the agency. Thomas will now work closely with CEO Priti Murthy and the agency’s senior management team.

     

    Having joined Omnicom Media Group India in late 2012, in his new role, Thomas will ensure the agency and its clients continue to navigate the digital space with clearer direction and therefore, take better and faster actions when it comes to new and emerging opportunities.

  • OMD will brew media for Bira 91

    Craft beer major Bira 91 has appointed OMD India as its media partner following a competitive market review. The appointment is effective immediately and the account will be serviced out of OMD’s Gurugram office.

     

    Launched in 2015 by B9 Beverages, Bira 91 went global in 2017 when it launched in New York City, followed by a wider expansion into Asia, launching in Singapore in 2018. In less than three years since its launch, Bira 91 is among the top 25 craft beer brands in the world (by sales volume) and the fastest growing beer brand in the world.

  • OMD India strengthens leadership team

    OMD India has promoted Sulina Menon to the newly created role of Chief Client Officer, while Lalit Agrawal has been elevated to the role of Head of OMD India – West.

     

    Menon takes on her new role with immediate effect and will work closely with OMD India’s CEO, Priti Murthy, in building the OMD brand nationally.

  • Wipro Consumer Care appoints OMD for media

    OMD India has been appointed to manage the media duties for Wipro Consumer Care, which will be serviced by a dedicated team of media, strategy and data specialists out of the network’s Bengaluru office. The scope of work covers the planning and buying duties for both offline and digital channels for all of Wipro’s iconic brands– Yardley, Glucovita and Safewash – as well as any future product launches targeting urban consumers.

     

    Wipro Consumer Care is among the top FMCG and the fastest-growing companies in India, with its products sold in over 40 countries worldwide. Having established a strong consumer base for its personal and skin care products in South-East Asia and the Middle East, Wipro has also gained a global footprint by acquiring Singapore’s Unza Holdings Ltd and LD Waxsons, and Yardley’s businesses in India, Middle East, UK and Europe.The accounts were previously managed by Wavemaker, who held the business for the past five years. The appointment is seen as further evidence of a new OMD India, firing ahead on all cylinders.

  • OMD India to manage media mandate for Levi’s

     

     

    Levi’s has appointed OMD India to handle its media duties. This follows a comprehensive review. The account will be managed out of OMD’s Bengaluru office with immediate effect. The appointment builds on the media network’s global relationship with the iconic denim brand that started in 2009 and has grown to now include over 25 markets.
