  • McDonald’s North & East launches initiative on sustainability

    McDonald’s India – North and East has launched an initiative on sustainability by repurposing OOH Campaign Material into school bags for kids. By partnering with the NGO Child Survival India, McDonald’s has successfully distributed over 2000 upcycled bags to children aged five to 18 years.

     

    The initiative is conceptualised and executed in collaboration with OMD India with the goal of reducing plastic waste.

     

    Speaking on this initiative, Rajeev Ranjan, Managing Director, McDonald’s India – North and East, said: “Our sustainability efforts are focused on keeping communities clean, protecting the planet for future generations, and supporting our long-term business resilience. We continuously explore avenues to reduce waste, transition to more sustainable materials, while simultaneously making a meaningful contribution to communities.   • OMD wins media mandate for Sugar Cosmetics

    OMD India has been awarded the media mandate for McDonald’s India – North & East (Connaught Plaza Restaurants Pvt. Ltd.). The agency’s scope of work for McDonald’s includes integrated media planning and buying for the brand’s full portfolio and is tasked with creating innovative and forward-leaning end-to-end media solutions for the brand, serviced out of OMD’s Gurgaon office.

  • OMD retains Nivea India Account

    OMD, media agency – part of the Omnicom Media Group, retains its position as the Agency on Record for global skincare giant – Nivea. The agency will continue to handle the integrated media duties for the skincare conglomerate, serviced from its Mumbai office.

    OMD India has appointed Iti Kaul to spearhead the digital practice for the agency. Kaul will take charge of the role from PHD Media where she currently leads digital planning as its General Manager. She will be reporting to Anisha Iyer, OMD India CEO.

  • OMD ad turns to 1947 nostalgia for new Sony show

    Sony Entertainment Television’s recently launched show, Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye, unveiled an era bringing to life pre-Partition India in 1947. To announce the launch of this show, OMD India executed a print campaign turning back in time to give readers an experience of the era through the look and feel of the newspapers.

    Expressing his views on the campaign, Amit Raisinghani, Head – Business Planning and Communication, Sony Entertainment Television said: “Newspapers were the most preferred medium of communication back in the day. Since the show Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye is set in 1947 pre-partition India, we felt an innovative print campaign will be the most appropriate way to set the context of the show, on the day of the launch. We have received a positive feedback from the audience and the industry alike and we are confident that we’ve been able to deliver our message impactfully.”

  • Omnicom Media Group Kartik Sharma to helm Omnicom Media Group in India

    It’s now confirmed. Omnicom Media Group has appointed Kartik Sharma as CEO for its operations in India. Sharma joins the Omnicom entity from GroupM’s Wavemaker, where he was most recently CEO for South Asia. He is slated to join the network mid-year. His exit from Wavemaker was announced on Wednesday (January 29). The position was created after former OMG CEO Harish Shriyan’s exit was announced in July 2019.

     

    With over 25 years of media experience under his belt, Sharma has served in a leadership capacity at some of the largest agency networks, including Mindshare, Lintas Media, Madison Media and Maxus and managed clients such as L’Oreal, Mondelez, Netflix and Vodafone. In his new role, Sharma will work closely with Priti Murthy, CEO of OMD India, and Jyoti Bansal, CEO of PHD India, on chartering the continued growth of the agency brands in India.

     

    Speaking on the appointment, Tony Harradine, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Asia-Pacific, said in a statement: “A revered leader with an impressive track record, I am thrilled that Kartik has joined us. I have the utmost confidence in his ability to steer our business to even greater heights in one of the most important markets in Asia.”

     

    For those not in the know, Omnicom Media Group is the media agency network owned by Omnicom, the global. advertising services conglomerate. According to a report in Campaign, OMD occupies the top spot by projected billings in the COM vergence 2019 global billings rankings report. GroupM’s Mindshare is second in the ranking and Carat is #3. In India, GroupM occupies the top slot amongst media agency networks, and OMG is as of now perhaps at #5.

     

    Clearly, Sharma has his role cut out for him. He took charge of Maxus from Ajit Varghese in January 2014 and there has been no looking back since. Sharma has led both Maxus and Wavemaker to winning the coveted Agency of the Year title at the Emvies.
