  • Tanishq unveils campaign to highlight matchless offerings

    By A Correspondent

Tanishq has taken its communication a step further and has launched a series of commercial films featuring its retail sales officers.

Tanishq has used a unique story-telling approach in the commercials, which is very different from anything the brand has done in the past. Each film opens with a Tanishq retail sales officer from different parts of the country (Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Jaipur) who narrate unique experiences they’ve had with Tanishq customers. These real stories brings alive the brand’s commitment towards great value and purity along with complete transparency. From introducing the state-of-the-art karatmeter at every single Tanishq store which guarantees the most accurate way of measuring the purity of gold, to providing 100 per cent exchange value for diamonds and other precious stones, Tanishq ensures that its customers are never disappointed.

Sharing her views on the campaign, Deepika Tewari, General Manager, Marketing, Jewellery Division, Titan Company Limited, said, “At Tanishq, we believe that our jewellery is about a promise of beautiful relationships. Our campaigns explore the beauty of relationships between a husband and wife, brother and sister, mother and son, father and son. With the new campaign, we are now taking a step further to present another facer of our relationship – the one that our employees at the stores share with our customers.

She further added, “The imperative was to convey our messages in a simple, yet effective manner. The four films cherish the moments of truth, honesty, transparency, passion and best industry practices that makes Tanishq, the most loved and preferred jeweler in the country. Backed by strong consumer understanding, we have also attempted to change vocabulary in the films so consumers take an informal decision while buying our jewellery.”

Rajesh Ramaswamy, Executive Creative Director, Lowe Lintas said: “The biggest challenge was to present these rational points interestingly. We drew inspiration from sales staff of Tanishq who are so passionate about the brand and have a lot of stories that cover these rational points in a very interesting and human manner.  And of course it was nice that we could manage this in one single take without a cut.”

  • Olx helps unlock best price with priceless proposition

    By A Correspondent

When Olx started building the market for consumer-to-consumer (C2C) classifieds in India, people took to the platform spontaneously and enthusiastically. As ‘Bech De’ took over the country, users began to not only experience the monetary benefits of the platform, but also the various less obvious, and deeper benefits of using Olx. ‘Keemat Bhi, Kuchh Keemti Bhi’, the latest campaign from Olx, is based precisely on this insight shared by its users over the last four years.

Said Amarjit Singh Batra, CEO, Olx India, “When we started out, we had the challenging task of creating the C2C market for used goods in India. As the platform started gaining popularity, we realized that there was a something bigger happening which was more compelling and emotive than just a mere transaction. People enjoyed Olx because it thrived on direct human interaction, which is both becoming more fleeting under the pressures of a busy and stressful life, and is typically done through middlemen in marketplaces. The other user insight we gained pertained to the place our belongings have in our life. The products we own are closely tied to our stories, passions, and dreams, and Olx is a means to extend those dreams by the way extending the life-cycle of the product. Our ‘Keemat Bhi, Kuchh Keemti Bhi’ campaign is a tribute to not only all Olx users, but also everyone who has had to let go of a passionate dream because of circumstances.”

The ‘Keemat Bhi, Kuchh Keemti Bhi’ campaign features two films, a TVC built around common love for a jeep and a short film on cricket. The TVC with the jeep features actor Shefali Chhaya, and has been directed by film director and writer Homi Adajania of ‘Finding Fanny’ and ‘Being Cyrus’ fame. This is Homi Adajania’s first ad film.

Created by Lowe Lintas, the TVC depicts the story of a middle-aged man and woman, who are the potential seller and buyer respectively of a used Jeep. While on a test drive, the man tries to break the ice by indulging in a light conversation with the slightly uptight woman, played by Shefali Chhaya. She reveals that she likes the jeep because her dad used to have one but does not take well to the tone the man is using, and accuses him of flirting. When she notices that the man is feeling guilty because of her remark, she lowers her guard, and buys the car from him indicating the beginning of a possible friendship between the two. The film ends with the tagline “Keemat Bhi, Kuch Keemti Bhi”.

The short film on cricket tells the story of a cricket player who is unable to pursue his dream of playing cricket because of circumstances that lead him to join the family business. Trapped in a job at a marble factory that he doesn’t like, he often looks at his cricket bat with a sense of despondence. Frustrated and hopeless, one day the protagonist takes his bat to a marble-slicing machine with the intention of pulverizing it. The film then moves on to a cricket stadium where a local game is being played. The batsman at the crease is in full-form hitting boundaries one after another. The protagonist watches in anticipation, clapping for the batsman after every shot. At the end of the game the batsman looks at the protagonist and starts walking towards him. The film moves to a flashback and shows that the protagonist never put his bat in the machine. He decided to sell the bat on Olx, and the buyer was the young batsman. Coming out of flashback, the young batsman is seen thanking the protagonist. The film ends with the ‘Keemat Bhi, Kuchh Keemti Bhi’ tagline. The last frame of the film says #LetWhatYouLoveLive.

    Amer Jaleel

Amer Jaleel, National Creative Director, Lowe Lintas, said, “People not only get value for their products but also earn something valuable in the process. The Campaign line –“Keemat bhi, kuchh keemati bhi” says it all. Olx provides a platform, where people can share a passion for a particular product, therefore connecting with each other beyond a monetary exchange.”

  • Yes, Lowe Lintas India is the #1 creative agency in the whole world!

    By A Correspondent

We knew that Lowe Lintas is one of the foremost agencies in the country. That many of its works have bagged international laurels. But what we didn’t know is that it’s the No 1 creative agency in the world.

    That’s a huuuuuuuge accolade. Don’t believe it?

Well, here’s the news:  Based on their performance in effectiveness and strategy competitions, WARC 100, an annual ranking of the world’s best marketing companies and campaigns, has announced Lowe Lintas India is the No. 1 creative agency in the world. The study focuses on marketing that makes a difference, driving business performance or changing consumer behaviour. This is the first time an agency from India has landed the top spot.

The rankings are compiled based on the winners of 87 effectiveness and strategy awards from around the world. Unilever was named No 1 Advertiser of the Year, with two of their campaigns (both created by Lowe Lintas) making it to the Top 5.

Lowe Lintas India accumulated 212.9 points while AMV BBDO UK took the second spot at 191 points and Colenso BBDO NZ that collected 147.6 points to finish third. This accolade is another addition to the strong run that the agency has had over the past few months. Recent successes of Lowe Lintas on global platforms include Ad Age International Agency of the Year, the American Jay Chiat Awards and WARC Asia, all of which were firsts for India.

    Joseph George

Said Joseph George, CEO, Lowe Lintas + Partners: “We hold WARC in very high regard. This recognition is both extremely satisfying and spurring. We have had a terrific run on creative effectiveness this year across the globe; and all the accolades have further reinforced our belief in the type of work we want to do and believe in.”

Campaigns created by Lowe Lintas India took two of the Top 5 spots on WARC100 as the World’s Best Campaigns. Kan Khajura Tesan, (created in collaboration with partners including PHD and Netcore), has been named the World’s Best Marketing campaign while ‘Help a child Reach 5’ for Lifebuoy was ranked 4th. Again, these are the only campaigns from India to feature in the World’s Top 10.

Now will we see Prime Minister Narendra Modi making a call to Joseph George or R Balki to congratulate them for having earned laurels for the country? Or better still, hire the agency to promote its campaign in Bihar. Learnings from ‘Kan Khajura Tesan’ should come in handy 🙂

  • Lowe Lintas Chennai unveils inspirational film for MRF Tyres

    By A Correspondent

As India’s largest selling tyre company and as a brand that has supported Indian cricket for the last 23 years, becoming global partner of the ICC Cricket World Cup is part of the natural progression for MRF. In the back drop of this mega sporting event, MRF has unveiled a new TVC that has been conceptualised by Lowe Lintas Chennai.

‘Expectation’ is the singular emotion that connects fans in a big way to the game of cricket, something that the TVC captures and amplifies. Expectation is heightened by the fact that team India are the defending champions. While this sentiment echoes across the land, it is brought alive through the sound track of the film, where different street sounds converge to raise an enduring and inspiring patriotic anthem to the Indian cricket team – Saare Jahan Se Achha.

    Koshy K Varghese

Commenting on their association with the World Cup event, Koshy K Varghese, Executive Vice President-Marketing MRF, Limited said: “We at MRF have passionately supported cricket for decades. From our association with legendary cricketers to grooming the nation’s finest talent though the MRF Pace foundation and now, being a proud Global Partner of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 – we have actively supported the sport for a long time. The objective of this TVC was to showcase MRF’s and the nation’s undying support to our cricket team. Expectations are high from the Indian team and there is a lot riding on them, just as there is a lot, literally, riding on us at MRF.”

The film begins with the Indian cricket team making their way to the airport. During their journey they are met with a rousing response from certain sections of the crowd who are engaged in their mundane day-to-day activity. From a young enthusiastic mother to an ardent senior team supporter to a large number of fans that have assembled at the airport, the Indian cricket team gets greeted all along with an inspirational message through the song – Saare Jahan Se Achha, Hindustan Hamara. The film ends with the message– ‘There’s a lot riding on us’ that is symbolic of the hopes of millions of Indian fans who want their team to return with the World Cup just like MRF Tyres that undertook the journey of making the players reach safely to their destination.

    Rajesh Ramaswamy
    Rajesh Ramaswamy

Sharing his views on the creative approach taken for the TVC, Rajesh Ramaswamy, Executive Creator Director, Lowe Lintas said, “The beauty of this idea was the line ‘There’s a lot riding on us’ which was written for MRF the brand. And when they tied up as one of the main sponsors of the World Cup, this thought extended naturally to the Indian cricket team too. We picked ‘Saare Jahaan Se Achha’ and decided to render it in different ways as the bus travels through the city. The sound had to dictate the visuals. Mikey did an absolutely fantastic track that evoked the kind of feeling we needed. And Santosh Sivan captured this in a beautiful way. This one is made with the same passion that MRF as a brand has for cricket which they have displayed for so many years. The logo in the end contributes a lot of credibility.”

The campaign is on air and will be splashed across traditional media and online channels.
