The International Advertising Association (IAA) India Chapter played host to 25 leaders from across Indian industry to mentor 720 students at the first ever mentorship programme conducted under the aegis of the IAA Young Turks Forum. Sangita Jindal, Chairperson of JSW Foundation launched the initiative on Friday, September 19 at the Bombay Stock Exchange’s International Convention Hall. Hailing the initiative, Sangita scored the importance of mentorship for young professionals.
Earlier, an interactive session with the theme “Engaging with the Audience – Lessons from the Entertainment Industry” was held with R. Balki, film-maker and Chairman, Lowe Lintas & Stefan Haves, well-known Hollywood director and entertainer. Theatre personality and author Anish Trivedi moderated the discussion.
“There is no need to panic in the race to achieve things,” advised Balki. He also added, “Chill, it’ll happen. Don’t panic.”
Highlighting the difference between a great juggler and a not-so-great juggler, Stefan said, “A great juggler has dropped the balls more and made more mistakes in public.” Underscoring the need to not fight shy and be scared of going in front of people, Stefan said, “doing public discourse feeds your own soul and that of people around you”.
HBO South Asia was the Presenting Partner and Mahindra Special Services Group and NASSCOM are the knowledge partners of the IAA Young Turks Forum. The event was conducted with the support of Bombay Stock Exchange. Youngsters from select colleges, the Nasscom 10000 entrepreneurs programme and BSE Incubation Centre were part of the IAA mentorship programme.

The International Advertising Association (IAA) India Chapter has announced its second industry-specific knowledge seminar for the realty sector on digital media. Titled ‘Real Estate in a Digitized World’, the seminar will be held in Nashik on Wednesday, July 9, 2014.

Srinivasan Swamy, President IAA India Chapter & Vice-President, Development Asia/Pacific said: “Last year, our Seminar exposed various National and Mumbai based real estate developers and professionals to a glimpse of what the digital media can offer them. A cross-section of experts from the digital media, advertising and real estate are expected as speakers at the event, which is going to be held at Nashik Engineering Cluster, Sahastrarashmi, C-10 MIDC, Ambad, Nashik. The event will be held from 4 to 7pm and is being supported by Deshdoot and CREDAI, Nashik.

Kaviratne was cited in the Queen’s 2004 New Year Honours list in the UK and was awarded the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to UK business interests and for sustainable development inIndonesia. In January 2004, he moved from being Chairman of Unilever Indonesia to a regional role in the Unilever Asia Business Group based in Singapore as Senior Vice President – Development & Environmental Affairs. In January 2005, he assumed additional responsibility as Chairman of Unilever’s US$2.5 billion Home & Oral Care business in Asia. Today, Kaviratne is Director of DBS Group & Bank, Star Hub, Singapore Airport Terminal Services Limited (SATS), Wildlife Reserves Singapore and Glaxo Smith Kline Pharmaceuticals Limited. He is a member of the Governing Board of Bombay Mothers & Children Welfare Society.

The International Advertising Association (IAA) India Chapter will discuss the role of opinion polls and media reports in influencing voters as part of the IAA Conversations series.
Former petroleum minister and senior BJP leader Ram Naik, Congress spokesperson Sanjay Jha, Shiv Sena spokesperson Prem Shukla and leading political analyst and veteran journalist Kumar Ketkar will participate in the panel discussion which will be moderated by Anand Rathi, Chairman, Anand Rathi Securities. The topic of the discussion is: Do Opinion Polls and Media Reports Influence Voters?

Three categories have been removed from last year’s list. These being: Marketer of the Year in Auto Commercial Vehicles, Travel & Hospitality and Media & Entertainment. The Marketer of the Year – Telecom Products category is now broken up into Marketer of the Year – Mobile Services and Mobile Devices. In addition, thee will be a Marketer of the Year for Home Improvement and E-commerce.

To ensure the authenticity and credibility of the awards and maintain the highest level of transparency at all stages, IAA looked at various performance criteria in every category under consideration, like revenue/market share growth, marketing initiatives undertaken, innovative schemes, launches, advertising spends etc to shortlist the nominees. Nielsen India was engaged thereafter to have the nominees voted upon by senior marketers from the same industry to pick the final winner. Ernst & Young has been commissioned to look at the process to satisfy itself of fairness and to officially tabulate the results.
The IAA Leadership Awards, this year, are scheduled to be held on 1st March 2014 at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. Honourable Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Sri Manish Tewari will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. The awards night will be attended by the crème de la crème of the marketing, advertising and media fraternity to see some of their leaders carry home coveted trophies.

After a successful debut last year, the India chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) has announced the second edition of the IAA Leadership Awards. The awards will be presented on March 1, 2014 at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai. Leading GEC Colors Colors is the presenting partner this year too.
The IAA Leadership Awards will salute the excellence of marketers across 12 industry categories. The awards will be presented by I&B minster Manish Tewari.

Srinivasan K Swamy, popularly known as Sundar Swamy, Chairman RK SWAMY BBDO was unanimously elected President of the India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) for the year 2012-13 at the annual general meeting on November 2. An industry veteran, Mr Swamy was till recently the Chairman of Confederation of Asian Advertising Agency Associations. He was also past president of Advertising Agencies Association of India for three years between 2004 and 2007. Kaushik Roy, President, Brand Strategy and Marketing Communications, Reliance Industries, who was IAA President for the last couple of years.
Mr Swamy said, “In today’s global economy, associations like the IAA play a pivotal role in building cross- cultural bridges, and in ensuring a seamless transition of ideas and interests across the world”.
He added that since the IAA represented marketers, agencies and the media it had a very important role to play in developing the communication industry in the country and across the globe.
Mr Swamy said that apart from the Olive Crown awards and the other regular activities that the IAA conducts, he would make a concerted effort to spread the activities of the India Chapter to different parts of the country. Another thrust area would be to get mid-sized agencies and media houses to get further involved in the activities of the IAA so that they could benefit from the involvement and participation.

The Managing Committee members elected are Avinash Pandey, M.G.Parameswaran, Neeraj Roy, Raj Nayak and Sam Balsara and the new Committee also co-opted Ramesh Narayan, Shreyams Kumar, Arunabh Das Shrama, Abhisek Karnani, Manish Advani and Neville Taraporewala as its members.

The Olive Crown Awards are the first and only awards in the country that celebrate excellence in communicating sustainability.
The event, witnessed a heady mix of creativity, entertainment, a touch of seriousness, a dash of Bollywood and some of the biggest names in the advertising, marketing and media industry walking the “green carpet”.
Singer Sona Mahapatra entertained guests with BollyJazz – Bollywood songs presented with a touch of Jazz. Funny man Vikram Sathye with his rib-tickling performance ensured that the guest had a great time The Guests of Honour at the function were Ms Nita Ambani, Chairperson Reliance Foundation and Member of ParliamentMs Priya Dutt.
A special Green Crusader was presented to Dr. Rajendra Pachauri who won the Nobel Prize as Chairman IPCC.
Olive Crowns were presented to winners in 14 categories and were judged by a panel of judges that included some of the most respected creative names in the business. Music Channel 9XM was the title partner for the event.
