  • Endemol Shine & DoveTail Media ink deal to create ‘The Ibis Trilogy’

    Endemol Shine Group has announced the development of a high-end production for the international market. Acclaimed director Shekhar Kapur has signed a deal with Endemol Shine to bring to life the trilogy of novels by author Amitav Ghosh.

     

    The agreement also brings together Endemol Shine Group companies, Artists Studio and Endemol Shine India who will produce the drama in partnership with TV packaging consultancy service DoveTale Media who initially acquired the rights to the books.

This is the first step in that direction.   • Season 9 of ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ announced

    Colors has announced the ninth season of Khatron ke Khiladi with celebrity director Rohit Shetty as host. Produced by Endemol Shine India, the show will premiere on January 5 and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm.

  • Bigg Boss makes its debut in Malayalam

    After launching in Hindi, Kannada, Bangla, Telugu, Marathi and Tamil, reality show Bigg Boss has launched its premiere season in Malayalam. The launch marks the 25th season in totality for the franchise in India. The reality show will be aired on Asianet and hosted by popular Malayalam film actor Mohanlal.

     

    Talking about the completion of 25 seasons of the franchise in India market, Abhishek Rege, CEO, Endemol Shine India said: “Bigg Boss, now in its 7th language and 25th season, is undoubtedly the most popular non-scripted show across the country entertaining viewers from all strata of society.   • Colors to start Season 11 of Bigg Boss on Oct 1 on

    The promos have been on air for a few weeks, the social media and television press have been talking about it for a while, and so there was no real surprise that Salman Khan continues as host of Season 11 of mega reality show Bigg Boss. The show launches on Colors on October 1. It will air at 10.30pm Monday through Friday and on weekends at 9pm.

     

    The show details – save the names of the inmates – were revealed to the media in makeshift hangar created at the Tarapore Garden society in the heart of the television software production district in North West Mumbai. The presser happening in a housing complex was in line with the neighbourhood theme of the season.

     

    Billing it as the biggest reality show on Indian television, Raj Nayak, COO, Viacom18 was excited with the launch and the continuing patronage of its sponsors – Appy Fix, Oppo phones and CP Plus security devices. “We are happy to strengthen our partnership with Parle Agro’s Appy Fizz and Oppo Camera Phones for this season as the presenting and powered by sponsors respectively,” he said.

     

    “Voting this year will happen exclusively through Voot,” Nayak said on the sidelines of the media unveiling, adding: “This year has been wonderful for Colors with unique propositions like India Banega Manch and Rising Star and another successful season of Khatron Ke Khiladi.”

     

    Meanwhile it was a big thumbs up from the sponsors of the show, and host Salman Khan in his inimitable style did his bit to boost the equity of the three present.   • Abhishek Rege appointed COO for Television & Films at Endemol Shine

    Endemol Shine India announced the elevation of Abhishek Rege as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Television and Films. Rege currently leads the television business of the company as COO for Television.  The company recently forayed into the movie-making business and has co-produced films like Brothers, Traffic and Te3n. In his new role, Reg will be responsible to nurture and further grow the company’s film business in India, in addition to overlooking Endemol Shine India’s robust television business. He will continue to report into Deepak Dhar, MD and CEO, Endemol Shine India.

     

    “Having worked with Abhishek closely for many years, I have great confidence in his understanding and capabilities of the business. Leading such a diverse portfolio in today’s dynamic environment is a mammoth task. Under Abhishek’s able leadership our television business continues to grow and I am confident that he will also evolve our burgeoning film business”, said Dhar on the appointment.

  • &tv revs up weekend with dance show

    General entertainment channel &tv launched its new dance reality show ‘So You Think You Can Dance, Ab India ki Baari’ with much fanfare at a presser on Tuesday, with the three jury members – Madhuri Dixit, Bosco Martis and Terence Lewis, and the channel bosses in attendance.

     

    The show is the Indian version of the Emmy-winning dance reality show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’. The show, produced by Endemol Shine India, will witness the battle between Street and Stage style of dance.

     

    Said Rajesh Iyer, Business Head, &tv, “We are thrilled to present yet another adaptation following the success of The Voice India. This time it’s of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, the biggest dance show in the world. We believe that the show will give a new momentum to the weekend television viewing experience.”

     

    The show will be aired every on Saturdays and Sundays starting April 24 at 8.30 pm and will be hosted by television stars Mouni Roy and Rithvik Dhanjani.
