    Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India have announced a team restructuring aimed at fuelling future growth in the Indian and Asian entertainment space. This strategic alignment comes within months of Banijay acquiring Endemol Shine India, and consolidating both businesses under Deepak Dhar’s leadership.

     

    As part of the restructuring, and to unlock greater synergies between the two entities, five key personnel (from within the group) have been moved to pivotal group leadership roles that will shape both companies’ (Banijay Asia & Endemol Shine India) future growth paths:

  • Banijay Asia inks partnership with Creative Artists Agency

  • Banijay Group buys out Endemol Shine India

    Media and entertainment organisation Banijay has announced the completion of its buy-out of Endemol Shine India, thus paving way for a reorganisation of Banijay in the region. Both Banijay Asia, and Endemol Shine India will now work under the leadership of Deepak Dhar, who’s been appointed as the Founder and Group CEO.

     

    Talking on the developments, Dhar said: “The reorganisation of Banijay in Asia is our biggest and boldest move yet and aligns with our ambition to drive further growth in India and Asia at-large. Leveraging the creative potential and possibilities of both brands, we will now strategically pursue complimentary yet independent creative portfolios to offer the most diverse, and compelling cross-genre content from across the globe, to our Indian and Asian platforms and screens.”

     

    Commenting on the restructuring, Marco Bassetti, CEO, Banijay, added: “Deepak is a leading creative and entrepreneurial force in Asia, and in our partnership thus far, he has successfully created an impressive slate, and a host of fruitful partnerships with major buyers and partners worldwide.   • Endemol Shine India & Planet Marathi get together for a biopic

    Endemol Shine India and Planet Marathi have joined hands for a regional production. The film will be a sports biopic based on the life of long-distance runner Lalita Babar.

     

    Bollywood and Marathi cinema actress, Amruta Khanvilkar has been roped in to play the titular role of the film. Hailing from a small village in Satara, Lalita Babar competes in the 3000 meters steeplechase and is the current Indian national record holder and the reigning Asian Champion.

     

    Endemol Shine India will step into the regional cinema space for the first time with this film. On the other hand, Planet Marathi, a name behind spectacular Marathi productions, will produce its first ever biopic. Raising standards and putting the spotlight on Marathi cinema, Planet Marathi has given gems like magnum opus ‘Chandramukhi’, national award winning ‘Goshta Eka Paithanichi’ and ‘Pondicherry’ to name a few. With qualities like Endemol’s pan-India scale combined with Planet Marathi’s regional expertise, the collaboration of both entities adds an extra special touch to the production.

    The film is produced by Akshay Vilas Bardapurkar, Rishi Negi, Gaurav Gokhale, Ronita Mitra and the film  is scheduled to release 1 year from now, i.e. on 26th January 2024.

     

  • Sony acquires rights to MasterChef India

    Sony Entertainment Television has acquired the rights for the Indian adaptation of the culinary reality show format, ‘MasterChef’ produced and distributed by Endemol Shine India.

  • Colors to launch ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 12’

    Colors is back with the 12th season of its premier show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’. It will be hosted by director Rohit Shetty and is produced by Endemol Shine India.

  • Rishi Negi is Endemol Big Boss

    Banijay, the independent content producer/ distributor, has announced the appointment of Rishi Negi as its new CEO for Endemol Shine India. He will oversee the existing team, day-to-day affairs, and its productions.

     

    Negi joins from Banijay Asia, where, until now, he has served as Chief Operating Officer. There, he supported CEO, Deepak Dhar, and the wider business, with all operational, commercial, financial, and general business-driven strategic matters. He joined the group with over two decades of experience in hospitality, entertainment, and retail, having worked for the likes of the Taj Group of hotels, and Emerald Asia Media Fame India limited among others.

     

    In the new role, he will report to Banijay’s COO, Peter Langengerg, who oversees the region.

     

    Added Langenberg: “Banijay prides itself on the development and retention of its talent, and with that in mind, it is great to be supporting Rishi in his next role as CEO, Endemol Shine India.   • Endemol Shine elevates Anaya Mohanty

    Endemol Shine India announced the promotion of Anaya Mohanty into the role of Head of Development for Premium Scripted and Non-Scripted, reporting to Abhishek Rege, CEO, Endemol Shine India.

     

    Mohanty has nearly two decades of experience in the creative field. Prior to joining Endemol Shine India, she worked with Colour Yellow Productions Pvt. Ltd in Marketing for Digital Media and Operations, was a Creative Producer at Eros Now, and producer at CNBC-TV18.  She has also worked as a Creative Consultant, Writer, and Senior Producer on multiple projects.

  • Bigg Boss to take off on October 3

    The fourteenth season of Bigg Boss will premiere on October 3 at 9pm only on Colors and stream on Voot Select.

  • Endemol acquires rights to the book ‘Lioness: The last Queen’

    Endemol Shine India announced that it has acquired the rights for Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni’s yet unreleased book ‘Lioness: The last Queen’. Mumbai-based book-to-screen company – The Story Ink has put the deal together and will also be involved as one of the producers.

  • Endemol does its bit with ‘Be Cool Don’t Be A Fool’ initiative

    Endemol Shine India in collaboration with more than 20 artists started its campaign ‘Be Cool Don’t Be A Fool’ urging all Indians to stay in during the ongoing lockdown. Throughout the campaign artists will post video messages taken from inside their homes to encourage people to stay at home and not venture out as we all stay inside to fight against the COVID 19 together.

  • Endemol Shine India announces new web series

    Endemol Shine India announced that it will be creating a web series based on Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy’s book Trial By Fire: The Tragic Tale of the Uphaar Fire Tragedy. The series will be helmed by Prashant Nair whose 2015 film, ’Umrika’, is the only Indian feature film to ever win an award at the Sundance Film Festival.
