  • Avinash Pandey elected NBDA President

    Avinash Pandey, CEO, ABP Network has been elected President of the News Broadcasters & Digital Association (NBDA) today. Prior to this, Pandey served as NBDA’s Vice President. With this move, Rajat Sharma, Chairman – Independent News Services Pvt. Ltd. has relinquished the Presidentship of NBDA.

     

    MV Shreyams Kumar, Managing Director of Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Co. Ltd. has taken over as Vice President while Ms. Anuradha Prasad Shukla, Chairperson-cum-Managing Director, News24 Broadcast India Ltd. has been elected as Honorary Treasurer of NBDA for the year 2022-23.

     

    The appointments took place during NBDA’s board meeting held on Friday, September 16.

    Pandey said: “It is an immense responsibility considering the strategic inflection point our news industry is going through. I thank Rajat Ji for leading us through VUCA time with his impeccable leadership and hard work. I am confident that NBDA members and its Bboard will continue to make a difference to our industry and society.”

     

    Commenting on this development, Sharma added: “Last few years have been extremely challenging for news broadcasters, I am happy that NBDA fought every crisis as a team and won every battle. I’m delighted to hand over the Presidentship to Avinash who has worked very closely with me in NBDA.  He has to carry the legacy we have built collectively over the years”.

  • ABP Studios shines at Marathi film awards

    The ABP Studios co-produced Marathi film, Karkhanisanchi Waari (Ashes on a Road Trip), has won the Marathi Filmfare Award for Best Picture. Mangesh Joshi received the Best Director Award, and Geetanjali Kulkarni received the Best Supporting Actor Female Award for the film.

     

    Commenting on the film’s success, Avinash Pandey, CEO, ABP Network, said: “This is no doubt a huge accomplishment, but I also believe this is just the beginning for our ABP Studios’ team. That this achievement is a precursor of bigger things to come is borne out by the growth and scale that ABP Studios has been able to achieve in such a short span of time.  With Karkhanisanchi Waari they have achieved the goal of effectively capturing the audiences’ imagination by sticking to their primary objective of providing stories from the heart of India. The collective nominations across 9 different categories is a huge testament to this achievement.   • ABP Network hosts two-day ‘Ideas of India’ Conclave

    ABP Network conducted a two-day event titled Ideas of India last weekend (March 25 and 26), which saw discussions on wide-ranging ideas over 25 sessions and 20-plus hours.

The two-day event will take place at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai, today and tomorrow (March 25-)26.

  • ABP goes the golf route. First Hindi & regional network to patronise elite sport

    ABP Network has entered a first of its kind partnership with Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) to be the digital media partner for its various golf tournaments to be held in 2021. It has become the first Hindi news network to cover a golf tour in the country and broadcast it live on its digital platform – ABP Live, and its associated social media platforms.

    At the News Broadcasters & Digital Association (NBDA) Board Meeting held on Monday, Rajat Sharma has been elected as its President. The Board also elected Avinash Pandey, Chief Executive Officer – ABP Network Pvt. Ltd., Vice President and MK Anand, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer – Times Network – Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd, Honorary Treasurer of the NBDA for the year 2021-2022.

    In a message issued with a communique, Sharma has said: “Despite several months having passed, BARC ratings have not been restored as yet. The NBDA Board and BARC have had several rounds of discussions to ensure that reliable credible, tamper free data is made available to the news broadcasters. NBDA has stated that the corrupt, compromised, irrationally fluctuating data will not be acceptable as the false narrative puts pressure to take editorial calls that run counter to the principles and ethics of journalism. NBDA believes in editorial standards of ensuring objectivity, neutrality, fairness and accuracy in reporting.”

     

  • ABP News to sponsor UP Yoddha Pro Kabaddi League team

    As the Pro Kabaddi League is all set to make its return (and the UP elections draw closer), ABP News has signed a deal to become the principal sponsor of the UP Yoddha team for the 2021-22 season. As a part of this deal, the ABP News’ logo will feature prominently on the UP Yoddha players’ jerseys, allowing the news channel to build brand recognition amongst younger audiences and sports aficionados across the country.

    After its success in West Bengal, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh, ABP Network has entered Tamil Nadu with a Tamil news offering – ABP Nadu. 82.5 Communications, which currently handles the creative mandate for ABP Ananda, ABP Majha, and ABP Studios, bagged the additional mandate to launch ABP Nadu. The Bengaluru office of 82.5 will be managing the business.
