    The International Advertising Association (IAA) – India Chapter is set to host its first-ever digital event, TechPulse, on Thursday, April 27 in Mumbai. The event will focus on bringing together industry veterans, thought leaders, and innovators on a single platform to discuss the latest trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in the field of advertising and marketing.

     

    With the theme of ‘Digital Transformation: Implications for Advertising and Marketers’, TechPulse promises to be an insightful and engaging event for everyone involved in the advertising and marketing ecosystem.

     

    The event will be co-chaired by Anant Goenka, Executive Director of The Indian Express Group, along with Neena Dasgupta, CEO & Founder of The Salt Inc Consulting and CEO of Aidem Ventures.

     

    Speaking about the event, Avinash Pandey, President of the IAA – India Chapter, said: “We are delighted to host TechPulse and bring together some of the brightest minds in the advertising and marketing industry.     The event will feature seven key segments comprising keynotes, panel discussions, case study instances, and interactive sessions on topics such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Metaverse, Data-enrichment, Machine Intelligence (MI) & Artificial Intelligence (AI), among others. With an impressive line-up of speakers and panellists, TechPulse promises to be a thought-provoking and insightful event.

     

  • Self-Regulation by news portals and platforms key: Prakash Javadekar

    Addressing the delegates at the 16th Marketing Conclave organised by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), Chief Guest Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Government of India today said that fake news is a deadly virus, and the way forward to tackle the menace is self-regulation by the digital platforms.

     

    Seeking greater accountability from social media platforms, he said misinformation weakens the functioning of a democracy and there should be a calibrated approach to thwart the spread of lies and disinformation. With all villages in India set to be connected, thanks to Bharatnet, there is a greater need to educate the masses about the detection of fake news.

     

    Speaking about the importance of the digital medium, the minister said that digital advertising is the future. “We must understand that with the speed it is growing and with the number of smart phones users increasing, digital content and digital advertising has become very important because of its reach and speed. Acknowledging the importance of the medium, he said that even the government has started to leverage the medium and are advertising through the medium.”

  • Anant Goenka bags IAA 2020 Young Leader Compass Award

    The International Advertising Association (IAA) has named Anant Goenka Executive Director- The Indian Express Group, and Mancom Member IAA India Chapter as ecipient of its 2020 “Young Leader Compass Award”.

     

    Says Punit Goenka, President of the IAA India Chapter: “It is a matter of pride for us in the India Chapter and in the Marcom industry in India that our member has been selected for this signal honor. I wish Anant all the best”.

     

    The award was to be presented at the IAA World Congress St.Petersburg, but since that has been postponed, the presentation details will be communicated soon.

     

     

  • 23 winners presented Ramnath Goenka Awards

    “Democracy is meaningful” only if its “citizens are well informed…Truth is the only compass for good journalism, ” said President  Ram Nath Kovind as he gave away the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards in New Delhi .

     

    Delivering the address at the 14th edition of the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards in New Delhi, the President said: “The quest for truth is, of course, difficult and easier said than done. But it must be pursued. A democracy like ours deeply relies on the uncovering of facts and a willingness to debate.”

     

    At the ceremony,  awards were presented to 23 winners in 11 categories — across print, broadcast and purely-digital — for outstanding work done in 2018.

    In his welcome address, Viveck Goenka, Chairman of the Express Group, said: “We couldn’t have had a chief guest who better encapsulates the values we celebrate this evening”.

    Speaking about the winners, he said that “these stories also ask questions of fairness and empathy they take neither a no nor a yes for an answer” and search for what lies in between. He added that “they are firm in their resolve to embrace complexity, not reduce the story to either pro this or anti that… these stories tell us why journalism matters”

    Anant Goenka, Executive Director of the Express Group, presented Kovind with a portrait. Indian Express Chief Editor and author Raj Kamal Jha also spoke on the occasion.

    The RNG Award winners were chosen by an eminent jury that included Tom Goldstein, Professor and Dean, Jindal School of Journalism & Communication, O P Jindal Global University; S Y Quraishi, former Chief Election Commissioner; Pamela Philipose, journalist and Senior Fellow at the Indian Council of Social Science Research; and, former Supreme Court judge, Justice BN Srikrishna. Among those present at the awards ceremony were Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, JD(U) leader KC Tyagi, former ABVP national organising secretary Sunil Ambedkar, Prasar Bharati Shashi Shekhar Vempati, Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau Kuldeep Singh Dhatwalia, eminent jurist Fali Nariman and D Raja, CPI General Secretary.

    The Express Group instituted the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards in 2005 as part of the centenary year celebrations of its founder, Ramnath Goenka. The awards aim to celebrate excellence in journalism, recognise courage and commitment and showcase the outstanding contributions of journalists from across the country.

  • IAA re-elects Punit Goenka as its President

    The International Advertising Association (IAA) has re-elected Zee Entertainment MD and CEO Punit Goenka as its President. Megha Tata (MD Discovery South Asia) was elected Vice President. The other office bearers are Jaideep Gandhi (Secretary), Pradeep Dwivedi (Treasurer) and Ramesh Narayan Immediate Past President.

     

    The members elected to the Managing Committee are: Anant Goenka (Indian Express Group) Abhishek Karnani (Free Press Journal) Janak Sarda (Deshdoot) MV Shreyams Kumar (Mathrubhumi Group) and I. Venkat (Eenadu Group)

  • Ceat announces bat sponsorship association with cricketer Mayank Agarwal

  • Durga Raghunath appointed CEO of Indian Express Digital Media Services

    The Indian Express Group has named DurgaRaghunath as Chief Executive Officer of Indian Express Digital Media Services from today (December 1, 2017).

     

    As CEO, she will be responsible for managing business and editorial operations of all digital brands of the Express Group and will report to George Varghese, CEO, The Indian Express Group.

     

    “Durga brings a unique blend of sensibilities, a strong sense of editorial values of fairness and accuracy and a keen insight into how new technologies can force multiply these,” said Varghese.

  • Ajinkya Rahane to bat for Ceat over four-year endorsement deal

    Tyres major Ceat Ltd has signed a four-year bat endorsement association with Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane. The Ceat logo will prominently donned in the bats used by the right-hander.

    The Indian Express Group has announced a undisclosed round of investments in emerging companies such as Envoged, PayMango India Private Limited, Mister Homecare Services Private Limited and Spiral Content Solutions Private Limited. The group believes that investing on growing platforms is a natural extension of its strategic business model.
