    Jack in the Box Worldwide has bagged the digital mandate for Blue Star. The agency will manage the digital duties of Blue Star across social media, e-commerce and search, using their ability to deliver measurable business impact through the power of content.

  • ASCI welcomes the passing of new Consumer Protection Bill

    The passage of the new Consumer Protection Bill has received an overwhelming thumbs-up from advertising self-regulator Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI).

    Commenting on the development, D Shivakumar, Chairman, Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) said: “This is a great development in favour of consumers and ASCI welcomes the passing of the new Consumer Protection Bill. Protection of consumers’ interest is also ASCI’s core mission. As an expert body dealing with complaints pertaining to misleading advertisements, ASCI has been working closely with the Department of Consumer Affairs. Complaints being received on the GAMA portal are being examined by ASCI since the launch of the GAMA portal. We expect this co-regulation model to be strengthened further as per recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee.”

     

     

  • iProspect bags paid media mandate for Chaayos

    iProspect India has won the paid media mandate for tea cafe chain, Chaayos. As per the mandate, the agency will service the account from its Delhi office and will handle their entire paid media duties. The main objective is to drive more footfalls for Chaayos across its stores in India. The account was won post an exclusive pitch.

  • Outdoor media market poised to scale Rs. 10K crore, notes Alok Jalan

The duo talked about how the industry will become more important in this age of media consumption.

     

    Stating a fact about the infrastructural development at the Delhi and Mumbai airport, Jalan commented that the development led to greater profits from these ambient spaces. “If there is better supply then there will be a high demand from the client.”

     

     

  • Lots Wholesale Solutions appoints Leo Burnett India as its creative partner

    Lots Wholesale Solutions, a part of the USD 50 billion Charoen Pokphand Group and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Siam Makro Public Company Limited from Thailand has assigned its creative mandate to Leo Burnett India.

     

    Lots is a ‘cash & carry’ operator in wholesale for professional business operators and has already launched its three flagship stores in Delhi NCR. The mandate is to position Lots as the leading complete wholesale solutions brand. The business win comes after a multi-agency pitch and Leo Burnett India’s Gurugram office will lead the account.

  • Havas Media bags integrated media duties of British Council

    Havas Media India has bagged the integrated media duties of British Council Examinations and English Services India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of British Council, UK, specialising in international cultural and educational opportunities with presence in over 100 countries.

     

    The mandate includes media strategy, planning & buying, digital and social duties. The account will be handled out of the agency’s Gurgaon office.

  • Madhukar Kamath to be conferred with AAAI Lifetime Achievement Award 2019

    The Advertising Agencies Association of India has announced that this year’s AAAI Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to Madhukar Kamath. This is the highest honour to be given to an individual in India for his/her outstanding contribution to the Advertising Industry. The award will be presented on September 6, 2019 in Mumbai.

     

    Kamath is a distinguished alumnus of XLRI, Jamshedpur and Loyola College, Chennai. He has more than four decades of experience in the advertising industry and has spent over 25 years in the erstwhile Mudra now the DDB Mudra Group. Currently, Madhukar is the Chairman Emeritus of the DDB Mudra Group and Mentor Interbrand India.

     

    Madhukar Kamath

    Kamath has actively participated in and has led several industry bodies. He was Vice President of AAAI (2005-07) and President of AAAI (2007-09). During his tenure as President, AAAI, Madhukar initiated and concluded the entry of media agencies in the fold of AAAI after amending the constitution of AAAI. During Madhukar’s tenure an IAMAI-AAAI joint agreement was signed for the promotion and smooth working of Digital media. He also led the AAAI’s involvement in creation of BARC. He was also Chairman of ASCI (The Advertising Standards Council of India). He is currently serving on the board of the Audit Bureau of Circulation as Vice Chairman and is soon set to take over as Chairman of ABC.

    This award was instituted in 1988 by AAAI and some of the past winners include Subhas Ghosal, Alyque Padamsee, Mike Khanna, Piyush Pandey, Sam Balsara, Prem Mehta, Ram Sehgal and others.

     

     

  • ASCI investigates and acts against erring ads for May 2019

    During the month of May 2019, ASCI investigated complaints against 231 advertisements, of which 67 advertisements were promptly withdrawn by the advertisers as soon as they received the ASCI communication. ASCI’s independent Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) upheld complaints against 132 advertisements, out of 164 advertisements evaluated by them. Of  these 132 advertisements, 69 belonged to the education sector, 41 belonged to the healthcare sector, four to the food & beverages sector, two to personal care, and 16 were from the ‘others’ category.

     

    According to a communique, amongst the various advertisements that were examined, CCC pulled up an advertisement where a renowned cricketer was seen endorsing a mobile gaming app making a superlative claim without conclusive evidence of its market leadership. Another advertisement featured a celebrity endorsing the product as organic, whereas this claim was not substantiated.  Added the communique: “A large number of complaints were pertaining to the education sector wherein the advertisers were making unsubstantiated claims of being No. 1 and this was also true for a very well-known private university. The CCC also came across a significant number of advertisement of hospitals and clinics which were misleading and exploited consumers lack of knowledge. “

    Said D Shivakumar, Chairman, ASCI: “ASCI is a self-regulatory body that helps advertisers and consumer recognise and implement relevant and honest communication of brand messages. ASCI works with the Department of Consumer affairs and the Ministry of information and Broadcasting in ensuring that consumer awareness of their rights is fulfilled. ASCI is also working with celebrities and influencers to help educate them on what they should watch out for before endorsing brands. The CCPA is a welcome step after 34 years of the last consumer legislation and provides autonomy and authority at a district level.”

     

     

  • Suresh Narayanan is Jury Chair at IndIAA Awards

    The India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) has announced the jury for the IndIAA Awards on 7th August 2019 in Mumbai.

     

    Said IndIAA Awards Committee, Chairman, Abhishek Karnani: “The IndIAA awards are unique on two aspects. We ensure that only hardworking advertising that have gone throught the rigor of a brief and are backed by budgets are placed before the jury. Secondly, the jury members are all very senior advertisers who judge real advertising every day. We are delighted that Suresh Narayanan, Chairman, Nestle, has agreed to Chair this senior jury for the second consecutive year.”

     

    The jury members include: Eric Braganza, President, Haier Appliances India Pvt Ltd; Abhishek Lodha, MD & CEO, Lodha Group; Raamdeo Agrawal, Founder, Motilal Oswal Group; Neil George , MD, Nivea India; Marzin Shroff, MD & CEO , Eureka Forbes; Vikas Agnihotri, Head, Google India and Sangeeta Pendurkar, CEO-Pantaloons, Aditya Birla Group

  • Think Analogue, Go Digital

    Digital is no rocket science. Employ analogue ideas. Don’t stress too much about algorithms. And ensure a good marriage of ideas, storytelling and technology.

     

    That seemed to be the message of what 13 top marketing services professionals said at the second edition of the Advertising Club’s D-Code digital review.
