  • Universal Music India appoints Shantanu Gangane as VP, Marketing

    Universal Music announced the appointment of Shantanu Gangane as Vice President, Marketing India & South Asia. In his new reporting into Senior Vice President, Vinit Thakkar, Gangane will be will be primarily responsible for growth of international and domestic content uptake while closely working with brands and partners.

     

    Prior to joining Universal, Gangane was with Vu Clip Inc. where he was the Head of Marketing for the OTT venture Viu India. He has had experience of over 15 years with brands like MTV, Nickelodeon, Radio City, FCB Ulka and Times Network.

     

    Speaking on the appointment of Gangane, Thakkar said: “We are at a very interesting time in the music business which is being driven by creativity and innovations at all levels. Shantanu will be a great addition to the management team at Universal Music India & South Asia with his diverse experience across media and entertainment businesses and his expertise across functions of Marketing & PR.”

     

    Speaking on his new role, Gangane added: “This is an exciting growth phase of my career and I couldn’t be happier to join the leading music label Universal Music that is looking at India for a growth trajectory. And working with passionate industry experts, Devraj [Sanyal] and Vinit is surely going to be a fulfilling and enriching experience.”

     

     

  • Viu appoints Bimal Unnikrishnan as India content head

    Viu has appointed Bimal Unnikrishnan as Vice President Content, Viu India to focus on the service’s original content portfolio. Bimal will report to Vishal Maheshwari, Country Head for Viu India.

     

    Unnikrishnan will focus on driving a strong content-led value proposition for consumers, as well as strengthen the Original Content library for the brand through the 30 + originals that Viu has announced slated to launch in 2018.

     

    Speaking about the new appointment, Vishal Maheshwari, Country Head, Viu said: “It’s an exciting phase for Viu. With Bimal’s leadership, depth of knowledge and expertise, we are confident that we will continue to build Viu as preferred destination for Indian Original content. Stay tuned for exciting Originals from Viu.”

  • Viu partners with Phantom Films for movie project

    Video-on-demand service Viu, by Vuclip and PCCW, is teaming up with production house Phantom Films to produce their upcoming movie High Jack. The film is scheduled to be released on April 20.

  • Celebrity Tic-Tac-Toe game show ‘Tollywood Squares’ takes off in India

    Video-on-Demand OTT service by Vuclip and PCCW, Morris Street Advisors, Star Maa and GroupM’s Motion Content Group have come together to launch global format Hollywood Squares to India. This collaboration will present the Indian version of multiple Emmy award-winning and internationally successful CBS show format Hollywood Squares for the Telugu audience titled ‘Tollywood Squares’. This partnership will help deliver content cross-platform as the show will be available on a digital platform and a television channel simultaneously.
    Hollywood Squares is the first major game show format from CBS to be produced in India. Created in Telugu, the 26-episode weekend show will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9:30pm. Hosted by film actor and television personality NavdeepPallapolu, the series will be based on Tic-Tac-Toe, a universally popular game and will showcase nine new celebrities and two new contestants in each episode.

     

    Elaborating on the show and partnership, Vishal Maheshwari, Country head, Viu India said: “We are thrilled to bring the most sought-after celebrity game show of Hollywood Squares regionalized for our Telugu audience.   • Viu fires up OTT market with aggressive ad blitz

    Vuclip has announced its first ever integrated brand marketing campaign for Viu – ‘Kaafi Feels Bro!’. The new campaign aims at building Viu, the OTT service available in 15 markets across Asia and the Middle East.

     

    Commenting on the launch of brand campaign, Shantanu Gangane, Head of Marketing, Viu India said: “At Viu, our endeavour is to offer great viewing experiences and riveting content with a dose of local flavors to our audiences. With compelling content that is bound to evoke various emotions from viewers, our first brand campaign is a reminder of the diverse genres, moving stories, interesting and original content available for our viewers on the platform.
