  • BBC World News announces fifth Football Connect Tournament

    BBC World News Football Connect will bring together more than 300 associates from media agencies and brands to play five-a-side matches and compete for the trophy.

  • Media agencies battle it out at the BBC World News Football Connect 2015

    Mumbai’s leading media agencies were involved in a pitch with a difference last week as they took part in the BBC World News Football Connect 2015 tournament.

     

    The 2nd annual 5-A-side competition took place at Mumbai’s Cooperage Football ground and saw 18 leading media agencies battle it out. More than 250 guests attended the event with agency heads, senior planners and CEOs present.

     

    The tournament kicked off with a round robin format. Six teams then qualified for the super six stage from which the top two teams from each group made it to the finals. The final was contested by OMD-PHD ‘Chargers’ and Lodestar ‘Tigers’ with the Chargers winning the hard-fought final 2-1. There was also a ‘Reach The Target with BBC Sport’ Cross Bar Challenge with all 18 teams nominating a player to represent the team. The tournaments winners were:

     

    • Best Goal keeper – Ritwik Yadav – Lodestar ‘Tigers’
    • Top goal scorer – Selig Baptista – Madhouse ‘Sonics’
    • Player of the tournament- Selig Baptista – Madhouse ‘Sonics’
    • Winners of the crossbar challenge: Harshil Shinde – Mindshare ‘Ninjas’ and Kieran Baptista – DDB Mudra ‘Knights’
    • Runner up team – Lodestar ‘Tigers’
    • Winner of the BBC World News Football Connect 2015 – OMD-PHD ‘Chargers’

Using the latest in virtual reality technology, BBC Global News Ltd recently launched a dramatic new interactive trade campaign to showcase how it delivers personal, portable and on-demand news for the digital age. The 360 experience gave guests a behind the scene experience with Babita Sharma as she showcased the leading news brand’s digital products and the advertiser benefits, highlighting the BBC’s international news services’ position as a leader in digital innovation.

     

  • Vishal Bhatnagar joins BBC as Sales Director

    BBC Advertising, part of BBC Worldwide, announced the appointment of Vishal Bhatnagar as Sales Director for South Asia.

     

    Vishal will lead the advertising sales teams across BBC Worldwide’s three South Asia sales offices in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, with immediate effect.  He will be based in Delhi and will report to John Williams, Vice President Advertising Sales, ASEAN & India.

     

    Vishal will be responsible for domestic and international advertising sales for BBC Advertising’s digital and broadcasts assets in South Asia, including the multi-screen product offer around the world-renowned website BBC.com and the global TV channel BBC World News.

     

    Vishal joins BBC Advertising from Network18 News Media, for whom he has worked for since 2004, most recently as National Revenue Head for CNN-IBN and Head of Focus-IBN 18 News Network. In that role, Vishal led a cross-functional team spanning Sales, Marketing, Content and Digital to create, execute and monetise award-winning initiatives like IBN18-Microsoft Election Analytics Centre and Network 18-Tata Tea “Power of 49”  among others. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President, CNBC TV18 and CNBC Awaaz, where he launched CNBC Universe as a sales platform. Before working for Network18 News Media, Vishal held roles at Times Television and Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd.

  • CNN-IBN appoints Vishal Bhatnagar as Nat Revenue Head

    CNN-IBN has appointed Vishal Bhatnagar as National Revenue Head, with immediate effect. He was earlier SVP & Regional Head-North & East, CNBC-TV18 and CNBC Awaaz. This move is a part of the leadership re-alignment now underway at Network18 News Media, the client facing ad sales unit which manages the advertising interests of the news and factual entertainment channels at Network18 Group.

     

    Speaking on this development, Dilip Venkatraman, CEO, CNN-IBN said “Vishal’s track record and experience in monetizing news brands is exemplary. His contribution will be critical as we shape a new phase of leadership for CNN-IBN”.

    Mr Bhatnagar brings with him over 18 years of rich experience in sales across media and has been with the Network18 Group since 2004. He holds degrees in management and commerce from the International Management Institute (IMI) and the University of Delhi.
