    Indian tyre major JK Tyres has launched its latest ad film that seeks to build on the premium imagery of the brand and establish connect with the youth.

     

    Talking about the commercial created by BBH India, Vikram Malhotra, Marketing Director, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd said: “The new TVC highlights our core brand values of determination, passion and unwavering commitment towards realising dreams. The new commercial showcases the emotional connect we have with our customers who like to stay in total control, be it on small car or luxury sedan. We cherish our association with Armaan Ebrahim and his journey to success has encouraged millions of youngsters to dream big and never lose sight of the goals. This is a true reflection of our brand philosophy.”

     

    The advertisement has been directed by Ruchi Narain with Picture Perfect Films as the production house.

  • Dentsu One creates new campaign for JK Tyre

    Dentsu One, the creative agency from Dentsu Aegis Network, has rolled out a new campaign for JK Tyre’s two wheeler tyre range, Blaze.

     

    Said Vikram Malhotra, Marketing Director, JK Tyre and Industries: “We have adopted a 360-degree promotion campaign for Blaze through our marketing and communication platforms. The tagline and message of our campaign ‘Ab se tyres mein sirf JK is OK’ is rooted in our firm commitment to total control and safety while driving on roads. We are going all out with our campaign and expect the premium range of tyres to cover 75%-80% of the domestic two-wheeler tyres replacement market demand.”

     

  • Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Ent gets its act together (and some $$$s)

    Abundantia Entertainment Private Limited, the independent motion pictures studio promoted by Vikram Malhotra, has unveiled its business blueprint and confirmed its film slate for 2014 and 2015. The company also announced the arrival of new strategic investors to support its growth and expansion plans.

     

    Founded in August 2013, Abundantia was incepted by Vikram Malhotra who, in his earlier avatar as COO of Viacom18 Motion Pictures, has to his credit some memorable films of the last few years and also has deep relationships with talent in the film and TV business in India.

     

    Combined with a strategic stake acquisition of Crouching Tiger Motion Pictures, promoted by Rajnish Khanuja, the studio announced multiple film deals with production houses led by some of the hottest names in the movies business in India. Top-lining the slate are projects with Neeraj Pandey (A Wednesday, Special 26), Shoojit Sircar (Vicky Donor, Madras Café) and Nikhil Advani(D-Day, Kal Ho Na Ho) as well as up-coming talent like Soumik Sen (Gulaab Gang) and a clutch of first-time directors. The slate of 11 films across the first two years carries a combined value of approx Rs 250 crore and will see these leading directors not only make their own films but also creatively produce work in their respective production houses. At various stages of production, the slate will witness releases starting as early as mid-2014.

     

    In line with its vision and growth drive, Abundantia also announced the arrival of new strategic investors in the form of RW Media (RWM) – a company with significant interest in the Indian media and luxury space. RWM along with a Singapore-based investment fund have acquired a strategic significant minority stake in Abundantia, which will continue to be held in majority, and independently managed, by Mr Malhotra.

     

    Sharing more about the company’s plans and announcing the new investors, Mr Malhotra, who is Managing Director and CEO of Abundantia Entertainment said, “Our aim is to build a robust business on the back of strategic partnerships on the creative and distribution fronts with like-minded individuals and organizations. Now, and with an eye on the future, we are delighted to get on-board RW Media and its partners.”

     

    Speaking on the investment and RWM’s perspective on the business, Reena Wadhwa, Chairperson – RW Media, said: “RW Media is a firm believer in the growth story of India’s entertainment, lifestyle and luxury verticals.   • Viacom18 Motion Pictures enters regional cinema space

    Viacom18 Motion Pictures has announced its advent into the regional cinema space after a successful two years as an integrated movie studio. This move comes in the light of the brand’s vision to be a pan-India studio and reach out to the audiences who consume cinema in varied regional languages.

     

    Jayesh Muzumdar, who is currently Director – Commercial affairs, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, will now also be heading the regional films business, reporting in to the COO.

    Speaking on this development, Sudhanshu Vats, Group CEO, Viacom18 said, “Foraying into regional cinema is in line with our vision for Viacom18 to have a strong presence in the regional entertainment space – both television as well as films. Geographic and linguistic segmentation is a key component of our growth strategy as we move ahead, and the good news is that we have already firmed up our plans in five key regional markets.”

     

    In its inception stage, the studio’s regional division has a pipeline of six movies across Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi and Bengali. The Tamil and Telugu titles include the remake of the studio’s 2012 hit Kahaani.

  • Vikram Malhotra quits Viacom18 Motion Pictures

    Vikram Malhotra, Chief Operating Officer at Viacom18 Motion Pictures, has resigned. Having spent a little over two years at Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Mr Malhotra is leaving to pursue his entrepreneurial aspirations. He will continue in his current capacity till July 2013, to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. He also headed the strategic distribution alliance with Paramount Pictures International.

    Announcing Mr Malhotra’s departure, Sudhanshu Vats, Group CEO, Viacom18 Media Networks, said, “Vikram has admirably led the reboot of this business to put Viacom18 Motion Pictures amongst the top players in the industry. Over the last two years, we have had tremendous success, stretched the envelope and redefined the rules of Hindi Cinema, making critically acclaimed films that were commercial successful as well. We have an impressive lineup ahead with movies like Chashmebadoor, Bhag Milka Bhag, Madras Cafe and Boss” He further added, “As he now ventures out to pursue his entrepreneurial dream, I wish him all success in his new venture.”

     

    Commenting on the development, Mr Malhotra said, “I have had a personally fulfilling and proud time at Viacom18 Motion Pictures and am privileged to have lead a talented team that redefined many a things in both production and distribution of Hindi as well as Hollywood films (marketing and distribution of Paramount movies).” He added further, “I am excited to now pursue my own dream and aspiration in the same space.”
