  • Vedanta launches digital campaign for Covid heroes

    Vedanta Group has announced the launch of a digital campaign – ‘Bravehearts’ – to salute unsung heroes who went beyond their call of duty to help others during the second wave of the pandemic. Vedanta will release short videos as part of the campaign, showcasing real-life stories of such ‘Bravehearts’.

     

    Speaking about the campaign, Roma Balwani, Senior Director, Communications & Brand, Vedanta, said: “Bravehearts is our humble tribute to the unsung Covid heroes who stepped out of their comfort zones to make a difference to the society, thereby spreading a message of positivity and hope. The pandemic has seen the world get together to help out others and we feel their efforts need to be appreciated by one and all.”

     

  • Manish Dawar joins DEN as Group CFO

    Manish is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary with over two decades’ experience in various senior level finance and business roles primarily in consumer oriented companies. He has served across geographies covering both India and global markets.

     

    Dawar has spent over 10 years at Reckitt Benckiser, a diversified multinational consumer goods company operating in the health, hygiene and home products segments, where he was the Senior Vice President – Group Controller based out of the company’s corporate headquarters in the UK. Prior to this, he served as the Regional Finance Director for Reckitt’s South Asia business and the CFO & Company Secretary for its Indian operations.

     

    Manish joins DEN from the Vedanta Group where he served as CFO for Konkola Copper Mines since September 2012.

     

    Commenting on Manish’s appointment, Sameer Manchanda, Chairman & Managing Director, DEN Networks, said, “It is our pleasure to welcome a veteran professional like Manish in our fold. His rich experience with some of the world’s largest consumer goods companies will be invaluable as DEN embarks on a trajectory of rapid growth in digital cable, broadband internet and new initiatives and transforms itself into a B2C brand.”

     

  • Roma Balwani quits M&M to join Vedanta

    It’s possibly one of the biggest moves in the world of communications this year. Mahindra & Mahindra’s head of communications Roma Balwani has moved on to join the Vedanta group in a similar position.

     

    Her last day at Mahindra was yesterday (March 31) and she was scheduled to join Vedanta today. Ms Balwani has been Senior Vice President, Group Communications (and Chief Group Communications Officer) since 2005. She has worked with Aptech as VP and Head of Communications from 1997 to 2005 in India and Norway with a stint in between at eBookers, in Oslo, Norway.
    Confirming the news, Ms Balwani told MxMIndia that she was looking forward to Vedanta and working with Tom Albanese who coincidentally also takes official charge as CEO from today (April 1)

     

    Ms Balwani’s position is meanwhile going to be filled in by Ruzbeh Irani who has been Chief Executive – International Operations, Automotive & Farm Equipment Divisions in the group. In addition, Mr Irani has been Chief Brand Officer at M&M and has been spearheading the Mahindra Rise positioning.

     

  • Vedanta unveils first ever national corporate campaign

    The Vedanta Group, a globally diversified natural resources major with interests in aluminum, copper, zinc, lead, silver, iron ore and oil & gas, has unveiled its first ever national corporate campaign under the platform of ‘Creating Happiness’.

     

    The integrated campaign combines a unique first-of-its-kind film competition forIndia’s next-gen filmmakers along with social media and traditional media outreach. As a part of the campaign, Vedanta is releasing 39 films – a 90 seconds film by Piyush Pandey of O&M and 38 three minute films made by student film-makers from across the country.

     

    Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal’s vision of contributing to building sustainable communities and integrating sustainability as a core part of the business is at the heart of this campaign.

     

    114 students from top media and film schools in the country including FTII, Whistling Woods, Symbiosis, School of Convergence, MGR FTI, IIMC, Assam University, Xavier’s, Christ University, AAFT, ZIMA, Tezpur University, IP College and Ravenshaw have produced 38 short films that tell the stories of the people and communities whose lives have been changed by Vedanta’s community initiatives, creating happiness in the process. Each film was made by a group of three students.

     

    The students travelled to the interiors of Rajasthan, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, and Chhattisgarh to meet with an Indiathat is full of inspiring stories and came back with their experiences and films. The films are open for public voting on YouTube till 20th March, 2012. The films will also be judged by the jury that includes Piyush Pandey, Shyam Benegal and Gul Panag.

     

    The face of the campaign is ‘Binno’, a little girl who was chosen from one of Vedanta’s community initiatives in rural Rajasthan. The television ad film, which has been conceived and scripted by veteran adman Piyush Pandey takes a real slice out of Binno’s life, with her parents, friends, doctors and school teachers playing their parts.

     

    It shows how her life is different from that of her earlier generations, in the process, highlighting the many changes that have come about over the years.

     

    The film has been shot on location in Rajasthan by award-winning director Shivendra Dungarpur of Dungarpur Films and the music has been composed by Rajat Dholakia, who has won two national awards as best music director for ‘Dharavi’ and ‘Sunday’.

     

    The television campaign, with the Binno film, will go on air from January 30 and student films are available for public voting on youtube.com/Vedanta group.
