  • Sony completes 1st of 2-phase acquisition of Ten Sports

    Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) and its affiliates have completed the first phase of a two-phase acquisition of the TEN Sports Network from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEE) and its subsidiaries, according to communiques received from both networks.

     

    Following the completion of this phase of the acquisition, SPN’s cluster of nine sports channels will now include: Sony SIX and Sony Six HD, Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD, TEN 1, TEN 1 HD, TEN 2, TEN 3, and TEN Golf HD.

     

    Certain other operations and assets will be included in the final phase of the acquisition, subject to certain closing conditions, which is expected to be completed in the next few months.

     

    Commented NP Singh, CEO, Sony Pictures Networks India commented: “I am delighted that the teams from SPN and ZEE have completed this core phase of the transaction in good time. SPN is now equipped, better than ever, to offer its viewers premium sporting content with a sports portfolio that includes every major sport and many international as well as domestic leagues.   • Ten Sports lands exclusive broadcast rights for MotoGPâ„¢

    Ten Sports Network has secured exclusive rights for MotoGP™, the premier World Championship for motorcycle road racing. This is for the first time that MotoGP will be broadcast exclusively by a broadcaster in the Indian sub-continent.

     

    This new deal between Taj TV and MotoGP™ rights holders Dorna Sports will run for a period of five seasons starting 2015. As a part of this deal, Ten Sports will broadcast all MotoGP, Moto2™ & Moto3™ races and Qualifying practices live on their network of six channels. Ten Sports will also be offering multi-screen feeds on its digital platforms and will develop a dedicated MotoGP section on www.tensports.com.

  • Ten Sports extends broadcast rights for UEFA CL

    Ten Sports has bagged the rights for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League for the next cycle of 3 Seasons starting 2015-16. Ten Sports who are also the incumbent broadcast rights holders for the properties have been broadcasting these premier football competitions since 2006-07. UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League rights had become the most key football property up for acquisition and Ten Sports Network re-affirms its commitment to promoting quality football through this major acquisition after beating other rival broadcasters to secure these rights.

     

    The new deal between UEFA and Ten Sports beginning from the 2015-16 season covers exclusive broadcast rights for the Indian Subcontinent which includes India, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Afghanistan. Ten Sports will broadcast these properties across all its platforms including premium HD offerings and live streaming of matches on tensports.com. Ten Sports will broadcast 145 matches of UEFA Champions League and 205 matches of UEFA Europa League every season. Apart from these matches, Ten Sports will also broadcast the annual UEFA Super Cup, the curtain raiser at the beginning of the European Season played between the winners of the UEFA Champions League & UEFA Europa League.

  • TEN Sports to broadcast DFB Cup

    The German Football Association (DFB – Deutscher Fussball-Bund) and TEN Sports Network, have closed a media rights agreement for the DFB Cup. Between the 2014/15 and 2017/18 season, the German knock-out competition will be broadcast across the TEN Sports Network. Infront Sports & Media, the exclusive international media rights advisor to the DFB, has facilitated the long-term contract.

     

    TEN Sports has acquired the exclusive media rights for live and delayed coverage with a commitment of 11 key matches per season and upto a potential 19. Territories included in the contract, cover the breadth of the Indian Sub-Continent includingAfghanistan,Bangladesh,Bhutan,India,Maldives,Nepal,PakistanandSri Lanka. Across the majority of these regions, TEN Sports holds a leading position. Its programming also features other top national and international football properties including the UEFA Champions League.
