    Disney Star has expanded role of Sumanta Bose, who has been appointed as the Business Head for Star Plus and Star Utsav. In a significant development, Bose has also been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the content for Disney+ Hotstar Hindi specials, further enhancing Disney Star’s position in the Indian entertainment industry. This strategic move comes as Kevin Vaz, former head of network entertainment channels, decides to pursue an exciting opportunity outside Disney Star. The organizational changes have paved the way for the next generation of leaders to step up and take on larger roles within the company.

     

    Reporting directly to Gaurav Banerjee, Head of TV and Disney+Hotstar Content Studio, Bose will leverage his expertise to propel the success of Star Plus and Star Utsav. Additionally, he will assume the responsibility of leading content development for Star Plus, Star Jalsha, and Disney+Hotstar Hindi Specials, further solidifying Disney+Hotstar’s position as a dominant player in the Indian entertainment industry. In his new role, Sumanta Bose will play a pivotal role in shaping the content strategy, driving innovation, and fostering creative excellence across Star Plus, Star Utsav, Star Jalsha, and Disney+Hotstar Hindi Specials. His exemplary leadership skills, combined with his extensive experience in the industry, will enable him to navigate the evolving media landscape and deliver compelling content that resonates with audiences.

     

  • IBF members to offer four pay channels for free to viewers

    Given the impact on advertising revenue for the industry due to the Covid-19 outbreak, IBF sent us a communique saying it stands together to support the government’s effort to help people in these difficult times. Thus, four major broadcasting networks have come forward and decided to waive off all tariffs and charges for four channels for a period of two months.

     

    Added the communique: “The Sony Pictures-run Sony Pal, Star India run Star Utsav, Zee TV operated Zee Anmol and Viacom18’s Colors bouquet channel Colors Rishtey will be available to all viewers across the country for a period of two months free of charge on all DTH and cable networks. The broadcasting fraternity feels that this will provide people who are restricted to their homes, wholesome entertainment and will help provide relief during the period of lockdown.”

     

     

  • Star Utsav refreshes logo

    Star Utsav has announced a new refreshed look for the channel. Star Utsav will launch a new channel logo graphic along with the launch of Mahadev at 7pm on January 12, 2015. Star Utsav’s brand new refreshed logo is in line with STAR India’s Crystal Ruby star.

     

    Also, changing from the current programming schedule of six days a week, the channel will now be available to the viewers for the entire week. Star Utsavs’ seven days a week programming format is the first of its kind in the history of Indian television industry.

     

    The refreshed look of Star Utsav channel is aimed at taping and engaging the rural corners, while keeping at pace with the urban audience. Star Utsav is also known as the ‘King of Middle India’ because of its reach in every nook and corner of the country, and its affordability. Catering to primarily the women audience, the channel’s new arrangement is in sync with a schedule designed to mirror the daily routines of its viewers.

     

  • Star joins hands with Bollywood, all fund-raiser event ad rev for Uttarakhand relief

    Star India has pledged all revenues from an Independence Day seven-hour marathon fund-raiser for strengthening relief efforts in Uttarakhand. Leading film stars will join Star’s fund-raiser and all advertising revenues generated through the event on August 15 will be channelled to not-for-profit bodies working for the cause.

    “The tragedy in Uttarakhand is a solemn opportunity for every Indian to lend a helping hand,” Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India, said. Early confirmation of stars supporting the initiative include Indian cinema’s icons Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar, Ajay Devgn, Kajol, Anil Kapoor, AR Rahman, Boman Irani,  Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Pritam, Prasoon Joshi, Mukesh Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurana and celebrities from top television shows of the Star network such as ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, ‘Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara’, ‘Saraswatichandra’, ‘Savdhaan India’, ‘Devon Ke Dev Mahadev’ and ‘India’s Dancing Superstars’ among others.

     

    Ad agency Ogilvy & Mather will be the creative agency for the on-ground event that’ll be managed by Wizcraft. The Film Producers Guild, Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), TV Artists Forum, Corporate Charity Trusts and several independent industrialists and donors will partner the fund-raiser that will be attended by senior leaders from the state and central governments.

     

    The event will be telecast live on many channels of the Star India network including flagship Star Plus, Life OK, Star Jalsha, Star Pravah, Star Utsav and Channel V.
