  • Sony to telecast AIBA World Boxing Championships 2021

    Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN) has reached an agreement with Protocol Sports Marketing to broadcast the International Boxing Association’s (AIBA) 2021 World Boxing Championships in India and the Indian subcontinent.

     

    Notes a communique: “This tournament will see India with their largest contingent at the tournament till date, with 13 boxers competing in all 13 weight classes. The matches will be telecast Live across Sony Six channels and livestreamed on SonyLIV till November 6, 2021.”

     

  • Sony to broadcast Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL)

    Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN) will air the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) from October 14 to November 27.

     

    Notes a communique: “The 2021 edition of WBBL has already got Indian fans talking as eight Indian women cricketers who have also represented India will be seen taking the field. Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma will be seen establishing their dominance in the Defending Champions Sydney Thunder, while Shafali Verma and Radha Yadav will play for Sydney Sixers. Poonam Yadav will join Brisbane Heat while Richa Ghosh will be seen in Hobart Hurricanes. India’s T20I captain, Harmanpreet Kaur along with Jemimah Rodrigues will take to the pitch for Melbourne Renegades. In the past, Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur and Veda Krishnamurthy have played in the Women’s Big Bash League with Smriti’s team, Brisbane Heat reaching the semifinals during the 2016-17 edition of the tournament.“

     

  • Sony Pictures Sports Network film on Olympics

    Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN), along with many luminaries from diverse fields, has undertaken a ‘Best Wishes Initiative’ to rally the support of the nation for the Indian contingent.
    SPSN put together a series of ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’ films on air and on their social media platforms sending their best wishes to the Indian contingent for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’ campaign has been conceptualized and created in-house by the SPSN team.

  • Sony Sports to air Ind-Aus series from Nov 27

    Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN) is all set to broadcast Team India’s first cricket series under the new normal as the tour of Australia will commence November 27, 2020 and will be aired live on Sony Ten 1 channels in English, Sony Ten 3 channels in Hindi and Sony Six channels in English, Tamil and Telugu commentary. The tour will be the first international cricket series for Virat Kohli’s team India after a gap of almost nine months and comprises three ODIs, three T2OIs and four Tests.

     

    As per schedule released by Cricket Australia, Sydney and Canberra will host the opening ODIs and T20Is at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Canberra’s Manuka Oval. The much-awaited battle for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin with a day-night encounter at the Adelaide Oval on December 17, followed by Tests at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on December 26, the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 7 and the Gabba on January 15. The Adelaide fixture will be the first day-night Test played between the Australian and Indian men’s teams.

     

     

  • WWE action to start on Sony Ten 1 & Ten 3

    Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN) will WWE action with the debut of a new programming feature, WWE Dhamaal League, featuring the Best of NXT Take Over and the live broadcast in India of NXT TakeOver 31 plus live action special events on October 26.

     

    Notes a communique: “To further engage viewers Sony Sports has also launched daily contest in October that will run on-air during WWE Dhamaal League – The Best of NXT TakeOver.   • UEFA CL on Sony Ten 2 from today

    Sony Pictures Sports Network will bring the upcoming season of the UEFA Champions League to Indian audiences from today, September 17, onwards. The matches featuring the best football players in premier clubs from top European leagues, will be telecast on Sony Ten 2. SPSN also recently launched its campaign for the mega tournament, #SonaManaHai, which captures the sentiments of all Indian football fans and preps them for the upcoming season.

  • SPN to broadcast Junior NBA Global Championship

    Sony Pictures Sports Network will broadcast select Jr NBA Global Championship games in India totalling over 12 hours of programming. The tournament kicked off on Aug 6 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World in Florida. The broadcast schedule for India will include eight games featuring the Jr. NBA India Boys’ and Jr. NBA India Girls’ teams, in addition to the boys and girls U.S. and International Championship games on Aug. 10 and the Global Championship games on Aug. 11.

     

    Notes a communique: “Three-time NBA Champion and Jr. NBA Global Championship ambassador Dwyane Wade, Utah Jazz guard and 2019 NBA Sportsmanship and Twyman–Stokes Teammate of the Year Award recipient Mike Conley, 2018 WNBA MVP and WNBA champion Breanna Stewart, New Orleans Pelicans vice president of Basketball Operations and Team Development and former WNBA All-Star Swin Cash, and Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle will attend the event to watch the competition, interact with the youth teams and participate in leadership development programmes”.

     

     

  • Sony Sports kicks off one-year countdown to Tokyo Olympics

    Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN), the official broadcaster of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, has kickstarted its initiatives for the mega-event with its on-air campaign, ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’. SPSN has informed that the one-year countdown will start with the telecast of a series of Olympic Channel shows, which includes India-centric content to further familiarise audiences with Indian athletes and Olympic sport disciplines.

  • #MoreCricket. Sony Sports launches campaign on Windies tour & Ashes

    Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN) launched its campaign, #MoreCricket, for the upcoming India tour of West Indies and the Ashes. With over 275 days of live cricket this financial year, the sports network will serve offer cricket across three channels. The India-WI series in the Caribbean islands and the US starts August 3 to September 3, 2019 and the England and Australia rivalry will be revived from August 1 to September 16, 2019.

  • Sony Pictures promotes CWG 2018 via ‘Rang De Tiranga’ campaign

    With just a little over a month to go for the Commonwealth Games 2018, Sony Pictures Sports Network (SPSN) has launched a promotional campaign titled ‘Rang De Tiranga’. The games will be shown live on SPSN from April 4, 2018.

     

    The campaign revolves around one of Indian cricket’s biggest fan – Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary. He is shown as the face of SPSN’s rallying cry ‘Rang De Tiranga’ that asks fans to show their support for the tricolour and the Indian athletes.
