Sony BBC Earth launched a 360-degree campaign titled ‘Make every moment meaningful’ and a wide range of activities to celebrate five years of completion. As a part of the campaign, the channel launched a user-generated contest titled #5YearsOfLife on Instagram giving people a chance to share how they have added meaning to someone’s life via reels using the brand audio.

SPN English Cluster comprising Sony PIX, AXN and Sony BBC Earth, partnered with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) recently to celebrate Passengers Day. The association was aimed at creating passenger deight with a series of activations at the airport from May 3-5.

BBC Earth has published findings of an international study titled “The Real Happiness Project†showing the direct impact of nature programmingon the mood and wellbeing of its viewers. India was one of the markets studied for this research with a sample group of 1,000 people.
The research, conducted with Professor Dacher Keltner, an expert in the science of emotion at the University of California, Berkeley, confirms that even short engagement with such shows leads to significant increases in positive emotions including awe, contentedness, joy and amusement. The study also found substantial decreases in emotions such as nervousness, anxiety, fear, stress and tiredness.
BBC’s research using a nationally-representative sample in India shows that watching natural history content increases feelings of awe, amazement and wonder significantly. This change was caused by watching natural history content, as it is significantly different to the change experienced amongst the control group.

Anger, irritability and feeling ‘mad’.
Tiredness, fatigue and low energy.
The research was commissioned to mark the launch of the BBC’s landmark nature series for ten years Planet Earth II, which will premiere in India on Sony BBC Earth in June.

The Sony BBC Earth channel will go live on March 6, 2017 at 8pm.The premium factual entertainment channel is being launched by MSM Worldwide Factual Media, a joint venture between Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) and BBC Worldwide.
The channel will bring award-winning, premium factual content from the BBC and will feature acclaimed film-makers and storytellers like Sir David Attenborough, Steve Backshall, Ben Fogle and Gordon Buchanan. Â It will be available in both SD and HD in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

The soon-to-be-launched factual entertainment channel Sony BBC Earth, has roped in Kareena Kapoor Khan as its ‘Feel Alive’ambassador. This is the first time that the actress has become part of a factual entertainment channel.

Media Private Limited (MSM) has signed a deal with BBC Worldwide to bring BBC Earth, a new premium factual channel, to Indian audiences.
BBC Earth is home to the BBC’s award-winning factual programmes and the work of some of the world’s foremost factual film makers. It showcases the incredible wonders of our universe, from the smallest creature under the microscope to the limitless expanses of space and brings viewers face to face with heart pounding action, mind blowing ideas and the wonder of being human.
The channel, called Sony BBC Earth on air, will broadcast in HD and will be available in Tamil, English and Hindi across India.

Both, the formation of the JV as well as the launch of Sony BBC Earth is subject to necessary regulatory approvals in India, for which the process is currently underway.
