  • Sandeep Gupta to head Shemaroo’s broadcast biz

    Last week, Shemaroo Entertainment announced the appointment of Sandeep Gupta as COO – Broadcasting Business. This announcement comes at a time as the company announced its strategic entry into broadcast business with two channel launches – Hindi GEC Shemaroo TV and Marathi movie channel “Shemaroo MarathiBana”, launch.  With this move, Shemaroo will consolidate its entire broadcast offerings under Gupta.

     

    Subhash Somani, Deputy Vice President, who has spearheaded Shemaroo DTH VAS will now take additional charge of Shemaroo TV. Somani will oversee the entire business for Shemaroo TV – Content Production & Planning and Channel Distribution among others. Meanwhile, Vivek Koka, Assistant Vice President, who heads the Bollywood category, will now be given additional responsibility of leading the Marathi Movie channel ‘Shemaroo MarathiBana’

     

    In addition, Rakesh Jain, Programming Head, will be responsible for the programming and creative development of the Hindi GEC, Shemaroo TV and will work closely with the team to strengthen the channel’s position. Also, Yojana Bahalkar Bhave, Deputy General Manager, will lead programming for Marathi movie channel, Shemaroo MarathiBana.

  • Shemaroo TV too comes with a Hindi GEC

    Shemaroo Entertainment has launched a new Hindi GEC – Shemaroo TV. A free-to-air channel, Shemaroo TV targets Hindi-speaking markets with the tag line ‘Badalte Aaj Ke Liye.’

  • B4U to transform content delivery and playout operations with Amagi

    Amagi has been signed on by B4U Television Network India for a range of end-to-end cloud-based playout services. Through its flagship channel playout platform, CLOUDPORT 2.0, Amagi’s services will include playout, 24/7 monitoring, conditional access, and measurement systems leveraging satellite distribution from AsiaSat, Asia’s premier satellite operator.

     

    The development marks a significant step in the adoption of cloud-based managed playout services by TV networks in India and Amagi’s growing expertise in this area. It also demonstrates increasing adoption of the Amagi’s next-generation channel playout management services by TV networks worldwide to monetise their content delivery and distribution.

     

    “Amagi’s playout services offer us improved flexibility, transparency, and channel control at very cost-effective rates.     The content and playlist is contributed by B4U in Mumbai, India, and the United Kingdom, while playout is uplinked in Hong Kong via AsiaSat. The entire workflow is stitched through Amagi’s cloud infrastructure and monitored by Amagi at its headquarters in Bengaluru.

  • Havas Worldwide appoints Nirmalya Sen as CEO

    Havas Worldwide has announced it has named Nirmalya Sen as CEO of Havas Worldwide India. He will report to Juan Rocamora, Chairman/CEO of Havas WW Asia Pacific.

    Mr Sen was until recently President of TBWA in India. Over the course of his career, Sen has advised and helped to grow global and national brands including Nissan, Maruti Suzuki, Mitsubishi Motors, Nestle, Britannia, adidas, HBO, Dabur, Tata Tea, Pedigree, Electrolux, and others.

     

    Commenting on his appointment with Havas Worldwide India, Mr Sen said, “I am delighted and honoured to be entrusted with the care of the Havas Worldwide brand in India.     No change is planned for the agency’s management committee comprising Satbir Singh, Chief Creative Officer and Managing Partner; Shavon Barua, President, South and West; Sandeep Gupta, Chief Financial Officer; and Sourav Ray, Chief Strategy Officer, under the guidance of London-based Anish Gupta, who was appointed Non Executive Chairman earlier this year.
