  • Rohit Jain appointed new chairman of Digital Entertainment Committee at IAMAI

    The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has appointed Rohit Jain, MD, Emerging Markets Asia, Lionsgate, as the new Chairman of their Digital Entertainment Committee for the period of 2022 to 2024. Jain succeeds Amit Goenka, Head of Zee5 Global. Amit Doshi, Head, IVM Podcasts has also been appointed Co-Chair, alongside Rohit Jain.

     

    Said Jain: “Indian media sector has shown immense potential in the last decade and now the OTT industry is in the spotlight owing to the work that’s happened for the last many years. I would say we are at the cusp of greatness; India truly has the scope of becoming one of the largest OTT markets in the world. It’s looking like we will end 2023 with a whopping 125 Mn OTT subscribers and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. India today is clearly the innovation hub for OTT be it technology, pricing, or content experimentation. This rocket ship has the potential to lead the Indian media and entertainment sector to 2.5 trillion dollars in the next few years. There can’t be a more exciting time to be in this business and I am truly humbled to play a small role in contributing towards the vision of creating a promising digital entertainment ecosystem that will provide access to the best of experiences for all.”

  • Lionsgate appoints Mrinalini Khanna as Content Head

    Lionsgate India has announced the appointment of Mrinalini Khanna as Content head for Indian Originals. Khanna joins Lionsgate after a milestone 14 years at Endemolshine India, with the aim of developing, creating, and producing content for both the studio as well as the platform Lionsgate Play.

     

    Welcoming her on board, Rohit Jain, Managing Director Lionsgate South Asia and Networks- Emerging Markets Asia, said: “We are delighted to have Mrinalini Khanna as the content head at Lionsgate India. She brings strong domain expertise on consumer centric business to this role combined with an in-depth understanding of the content development in the OTT space.   • MediaCom bags mandate for Lionsgate Play

    Following a competitive multi-agency pitch, MediaCom has bagged the media mandate for OTT platform Lionsgate Play in India.

     

    As its full form AOR, MediaCom will be responsible for the media strategy, planning, buying and implementation for all media as per Lionsgate’s requirements.

     

    Commenting on the partnership, Rohit Jain, Managing Director, Lionsgate South Asia, said: “This is an exciting year for Lionsgate Play. We will be launching our B2C app soon and aim to reach out to maximum number of audiences with the right media mix. We are glad to partner with MediaCom and are confident about their result oriented approach.”

     

    Speaking on the recent win, Navin Khemka, CEO, MediaCom South Asia, added: “Content consumption has witnessed unprecedented growth in the last couple of years more so over the last few months as a result of the lockdown.   • Lionsgate bets big with JioFiber

    Global content leader Lionsgate has formed an alliance with Jio to bring the Lionsgate Play streaming service to JioFiber customers as part of the studio’s biggest partnership to date for large screens in South Asia.

    Commenting on the partnership, Rohit Jain, Managing Director, Lionsgate South Asia, said: “We have recently seen a surge in viewership across Indian platforms as more and more people stream premium content.  What began as a smart phone-led content revolution is transitioning and expanding to encompass consumer televisions and other large screens in the home.  In response, we will continue to invest in technology and distribution with great partners like Jio that give our consumers the option of watching our movies either on large screens or on their smartphones. This alliance with JioFiber is our first major step amongst several such initiatives to come in taking content on large screens within comforts of consumers’ home”

     

     

  • Havas Creative joins Lionsgate to raise funds Covid-19

    Global content studio Lionsgate India has launched an initiative to bring the community experience of watching movies in movie theatres to live streaming, in partnership with Facebook India. Havas Creative Mumbai will be executing the India communication with local flavour further enhanced by celebrity collaborations.
