  • Reliance Games announces alliance with GoPhygital

    Reliance Games announced its foray into the fast-growing Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality space by announcing its alliance with GoPhygital, a Mumbai-based venture focused on creating immersive AR, VR and MR experiences.

     

    As a part of the alliance, Reliance Games and GoPhygital will partner and develop AR and VR based apps, games and experiences which will be based on original IP and licensed IP.

     

    Speaking about the association and their foray into AR and VR, Amit Khanduja, CEO of Reliance Entertainment – Digital said:“We are delivering a console experience to our mobile consumers and we will continue to push the boundaries for apps and games with AR and VR. As we continue to invest heavily in the new technology, we are at the threshold of a big revolution in how digital content will be consumed, and consumer experiences and behaviour will change, in the days to come. Currently our creative teams are working on analyzing the player data and designing levels and games to use from their real world to augment players virtual world.”

  • Nazara nets Manish Agarwal as CEO, eyes being largest smartphone publisher

    Leading mobile game developer and publisher Nazara Technologies has announced the appointment of Manish Agarwal as Chief Executive Officer. Nitish Mittersain, who founded Nazara Technologies, will assume the role of the Managing Director.

     

    Formerly CEO of Reliance Games, Agarwal brings with over 16 years of rich experience in digital, consumer marketing and mobile gamingHe was instrumental for development of successful, multi-million download games including Real Steel franchise, Pacific Rim and Hunger Games Panem Run among others. He has held senior leadership positons at Unilever, Microsoft, Rediff, Infosys and UTV.

     

    Said Mittersain: “As an industry as well as a company, we are at an inflection point today. While on the demand-side, the adoption of smartphones and enhanced connectivity is helping the segment grow at an unprecedented pace, on the supply-side there is tremendous interest in the Indian market from global players, new entrants, content developers and investors.   • Reliance Games expands to Japan, Korea

    Reliance Big Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, part of the ADAG Reliance group, has announced that Reliance Games, its international mobile gaming business, in a bid to expand its global presence has made a strategic entry into the key gaming destinations in the world – Japan and Korea. The company has announced the acquisition of a mobile game development and publishing company in Japan and a mobile game development studio in Korea, thereby augmenting its footprint in the global mobile gaming industry.

     

    The recent ingress of Reliance Games into Japan and Korea will play a pivotal role in the company’s international roadmap. The Japanese and Korean business set-ups give Reliance Games direct access to the two largest mobile gaming markets known to the world. The company aims to adopt a two pronged approach for the new set-ups; while the Japanese and Korean facilities will develop IPs targeted to local consumers, they will in future also be responsible for R&D of multi-player mobile games for the western markets.
