  • Rishi Jaitly quits Twitter

     

     

    Rishi Jaitly, who led Twitter’s rapid expansion into India, and now Vice President – Asia Pacific and Middle East North Africa is moving on from the leading digital organisation.

    Confirming the development, a Twitter India spokesperson said: “We thank Rishi Jaitley for his contributions, entrepreneurship and leadership over the past four years at Twitter. He was our first person on the ground to bring Twitter into the high-growth Indian market… he has created bold, strategic partnerships to enter and grow new markets for Twitter and has successfully built up our media partnerships teams across the Asia Pacific and Middle East. He led our efforts to make Twitter the national zeitgeist for millions of users across the Asia Pacific and Middle East, as well as the place that TV and media organisations, government agencies, sports bodies, entertainment companies and influencers go to publish their content first and engage with their audience every day, including Twitter’s first international livestreaming deal for the Melbourne Cup in Australia.”
    Jaitly will continue with the organisation till later this month, added the spokesperson. “There will be a smooth transition as his last day is in late November after which he will move back to the US, but will remain engaged in India, as he pursues new opportunities to harness the power of technology and scale of mass media to empower voices, particularly in emerging markets.

  • Rohit Ohri quits Dentsu. May be joining FCB Ulka: ‘dna’ report

    Even as the Dentsu Aegis Network has confirmed the news of the exit of one of its key stakeholders in the APAC region, there are rumours that his next port of call may be FCB Ulka. According to a report in newsdaily dna’s website dnaindia.com, “former Dentsu India CEO Rohit Ohri is set to join FCB Ulka.” Attributing reliable sources, the report addes that the announcement of Ohri taking charge at the Mumbai-based agency network will be made soon.

     

    Meanwhile, this is the official statement from Dentsu Aegis: “Rohit Ohri CEO Dentsu Asia Pacific (ex Japan) has resigned after four years at the company. He has made a great contribution and we thank him for that. New leadership of Dentsu brands in Asia Pacific will be announced in due course.”

     

  • MK Anand quits Disney UTV, replacement to be announced soon

    M K Anand, Managing Director, Media Networks at Disney UTV is moving on.

     

    He has put in his papers, and his last date at Disney UTV is December 31, 2013. Although the entertainment-to-broadcast-to-gaming conglomerate has not confirmed the departure officially, a senior executive confirmed the development indicating that a new structure for the broadcast business is being worked out and then the name of the team leader will be announced.

     

    Mr Anand has worked with The Times of India group for 19 years, first with print for 14 years and later with the television business as VP for Zoom from 2004-09. The leapfrog to CEO of UTV Software saw him lead the broadcast business through the transition to Disney UTV.

     

    M K Anand’s destination is not known and he wasn’t reachable for comment.

     

  • Sandeep Dahiya quits Viacom18

    Viacom18 Media has announced the resignation of Sandeep Dahiya, Senior Vice President – Consumer Products and Communications. Mr Dahiya has been with the group for eight years and has worked in multiple-functions across the group – consumer products, communications and corporate affairs. He will continue in his current capacity till July 15. It is not known where he is moving to next.

     

    Making the announcement, Sudhanshu Vats, Group CEO – Viacom18 Media Networks said, “Over the last many years Sandeep has passionately led Viacom18’s consumer products’ business and taken it to a respectable position. He’s laid a strong foundation in creating eco-systems for our brands outside their core business and we’re committed to building on this foundation even further.”

     

    Commenting on the development, Mr Dahiya added, “The 8-year phase at Viacom18 has been the most fulfilling and exciting phase of my professional career and I’ve tremendously enjoyed working on some of the most well-known brands/properties – be it Colors, MTV, Nickelodeon, Vh1 and Comedy Central.”

     

  • Monica Tata quits Turner. No replacement for now

    Monica Tata, GM – Entertainment Networks, South Asia at Turner International India, has put in her papers. A Turner official confirmed the development and informed that she will be with the company till the end of the year. Ms Tata’s next destination is not known, and it is learnt that her position may not be filled in for the moment.

     

    With over 23 years of experience, Ms Tata has had an excellent record of increasing sales, effective negotiations, P&L analysis and strategic implementation of business operations. She joined Turner in 2004 after a 12-year stint at Star India and earlier at the now-shut Sunday Mail. She is Honorary Secretary of the International Advertising Association, India Chapter and is part of the Indian Broadcasting Federation’s proposed Indian Television Festival core organizing committee.

     

    Ms Tata was recognised as ‘Next 30’ most powerful women to look out in 2010 and was also adjudged as one of India’s hottest young executives of the media industry in 2009 by Business Today magazine and adjudged amongst the Top 50 influential women in media, marketing and advertising by Impact magazine earlier this year.
