  • 11 comms professionals set up PR Club

    Eleven Public Relations professionals have come together, supported by The Promise Foundation, to create a membership-led knowledge sharing collaboration for betterment of the professional community. The PR Club – as the initiative is referred to, will offer continuous learning to the community.

     

    The 11 co-founders include (in alphabetical order): Aniruddha Bhagwat, Liza Saha, Nicky Singh, Pooja Trehan, Rahul Rakesh, Ritesh Shete, Rozelle Laha, Sandeep Rao (Co-Founder of One Source), Tarunjeet Rattan (Creator of PR-POI), Tinu Cherian (Lead at ICG) and Vikram Kharvi (Founder of IPRF).

     

    Membership is open to any working professional who has a basic understanding of Public Relations. There will be an annual fee of Rs 10,000 + GST (introductory fee). The first 50 who join in July 2020 will get a one-time 50% discount on the fee. The founding members will not be affected by a fee hike in the subsequent year.

     

     

  • MICA & SIMC students bag PRomise Foundation scholarship

    Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmedabd student Aishwarya Padmanabhan and Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication Pune’s Deboshree Bhattacharjee have been declared winner and and runner-up of the inaugural PRomise Foundation scholarship. The Scholarship is one of the two flagship programmes of the PRomise Foundation for Public Relations, a non-profit set-up with a goal of doing PR for Public Relations, and was announced in July soon after the Foundation was launched (*See Disclosure).

     

    It was open to students pursuing their postgraduation in Indian institutes where Public Relations is a subject of study. The objectives of the scholarship was to promote the art of writing among students of Communications and Public Relations, to create an opportunity to discuss an issue centered around reputation management, to showcase budding thought leaders to the world of business communications and to support students with a handsome scholarship. Based on three parameters, a student could win upto Rs 50,000. The three phases were application, essay submission and authentication. The essays submitted were on the theme – “Public Relations needn’t always be a short-term fix for businesses; it can be a critical strategic communications tool too”.

     

    The jury that evaluated the essays included four senior professionals from academia, media, consulting and corporate communications. N. Madhavan – senior journalist and associate editor of Hindustan Times, Melissa Arullapan – Corporate Communication Director at Quintiles, Sukanti Ghosh – Managing Director at APCO Worldwide and Keval Kumar – academician and authority on mass communication.  The winning candidates will receive cash prize of Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.

     

    The PRomise Foundation is a unique initiative founded by volunteers who work in corporate communications across various organisations and professionals from various PR firms. It was founded in June 2012 and is organizing India’s first weekend summit – PRAXIS for PR and Corporate Communications professionals in Pondicherry in November. The event called PRAXIS plans to bring over 150 professionals and students of PR together for two days of learning and sharing.

  • PRomise Foundation for PR announces PRAXIS 2012

    The PRomise Foundation for Public Relations, has announced PRAXIS 2012 – India’s first weekend summit for Public Relations and Corporate Communications professionals to be held at Le Pondy in Pondicherry on November 23 and 24. The summit will bring together students, professionals: young & mid-level and veterans of the Public Relations business under one roof to discuss various aspects that impact the profession.

     

    The summit will be inaugurated by Prof. Dr. J. V. Vil’anilam, author of Public Relations in India and former Vice Chancellor – Kerala University who will make opening remarks. The inaugural keynote address will be by eminent PR practitioner and New Jersey based author of several bestsellers on Public Relations -Deirdre Breakenridge who is making her debut India visit exclusively for the summit.

     

    There will be three power panels with PR firm leaders and senior corporate communicators discussing Creativity, Measurement and Talent in Public Relations besides a special session on the art of Storytelling by two bestselling authors Anita Nair and Ashwin Sanghi. Another summit highlight will be Rapid Fire, a series of short presentations by nine professionals from different walks of life sharing their experiences and contributions to the business of Public Relations in India.

     

    The inaugural gala will include a live concert and the second day will have a special keynote address by an eminent personality. Both these elements are being finalized and will be announced in due course. The event sponsors will be some of the leading public relations firms, a media measurement company and an academic institute among others. The Holmes Report will be a media partner.     The Foundation has a Board of Advisors consisting of senior professionals from academics, media, corporate communications, marketing and business. A Board of Mentors comprises country heads of the leading Public Relations firms. The younger professionals consist of Supporters and Friends who contribute time and ideas to the smooth running of the various initiatives.

     

    Shane Jacob and Amith Prabhu, both of whom work full-time with leading Public Relations firms, are summit co-chairs and are putting together PRAXIS 2012 in their spare time with the help of like-minded professionals from 15 other organisations who are all trying to create a platform for the profession on a voluntary basis.
