  • Planet Marathi gets investment of approx USD 5mn

    After three years of operations, Planet Marathi OTT, has announced a significant investment from a prominent US-based private equity firm, A & MA Capital USA. The initial investment, totalling approximately 5 Million USD, is expected to increase over the next two quarters.

    In addition to the private equity investment, Dcafe, a globally renowned media-tech company, has also entered into a strategic agreement with Planet Marathi OTT, further strengthening its technological capabilities.” Partnership with Dcafe platform represents a significant milestone for us, solidifying our position in the tech-driven entertainment landscape,” Bardapurkar added.

  • Planet Marathi gets Abhijit Panse as Director of Content

    Planet Marathi OTT has appointed filmmaker Abhijit Panse as Director of Content.

    In his new role, Panse will spearhead content identification, curation, and acquisition for the platform, while also overseeing a dedicated team tasked with pitching, producing, researching, and developing creative content. With a focus on establishing strategic direction and advancing long-term content objectives, Panse brings his extensive experience and creative vision to Planet Marathi OTT.

  • Endemol Shine India & Planet Marathi get together for a biopic

    Endemol Shine India and Planet Marathi have joined hands for a regional production. The film will be a sports biopic based on the life of long-distance runner Lalita Babar.

     

    Bollywood and Marathi cinema actress, Amruta Khanvilkar has been roped in to play the titular role of the film. Hailing from a small village in Satara, Lalita Babar competes in the 3000 meters steeplechase and is the current Indian national record holder and the reigning Asian Champion.

     

    Endemol Shine India will step into the regional cinema space for the first time with this film. On the other hand, Planet Marathi, a name behind spectacular Marathi productions, will produce its first ever biopic. Raising standards and putting the spotlight on Marathi cinema, Planet Marathi has given gems like magnum opus ‘Chandramukhi’, national award winning ‘Goshta Eka Paithanichi’ and ‘Pondicherry’ to name a few. With qualities like Endemol’s pan-India scale combined with Planet Marathi’s regional expertise, the collaboration of both entities adds an extra special touch to the production.

    The film is produced by Akshay Vilas Bardapurkar, Rishi Negi, Gaurav Gokhale, Ronita Mitra and the film  is scheduled to release 1 year from now, i.e. on 26th January 2024.

     

  • Shailesh Amonkar joins Planet Marathi as Strategic Advisor

    Senior mediaperson and digital specialist Shailesh Amonkar has been retained as Strategic Advisor by Marathi OTT platform, Planet Marathi. A Vistas Media Capital Company, Planet Marathi has announced the appointment of Amonkar and Darshan Gangakhedkar, another seasoned media pro in the region, as Strategic Advisors. They will assume responsibilities of mentoring and guiding the team on monetisation and strategy for the company. They will also be associated with Planet Marathi’s expansions plans. Planet Marathi was set up in August 2021 and boasts growth of 500% since (data not verified – Ed).

    Amonkar, who has worked with The Times of India and Sakal Media groups, is now an entrepreneur who runs Kemistry Media Solutions, a media consulting firm. He is also Co-founder of Climatica, a firm dealing with actionables around the various challenges posed by climate. Gangakhedkar, also an entrepreneur, has over two decades of experience in running media businesses at Marathi and Hindi language pubications like Nava Bharat, Raj Express and Sakal.

     

  • IdeateLabs wins marketing mandate for Planet Marathi

    Digital marketing agency IdeateLabs has won the mandate for Planet Marathi OTT. The company will manage the brand’s end-to-end marketing duties, including creative communication, content marketing, and media strategy, planning and buying.

    Journalist and former Zee Media employee Jayanti Waghdhare has joined Planet Marathi as AVP, Social Media.
