  • Tata Sky ties with with Viacom18 to launch Kannada cinema channel

    Launch of Tata Sky Kannada Cinema by Chief Communication Office, Anurag Kumar along with Senior VP, Sales, CV Konda Reddy

    Tata Sky has partnered with Colors Kannada to launch Tata Sky Kannada Cinema, which will offer a line-up of 150+ films showcasing blockbusters and leading actors of Sandalwood.

     

    Commenting on the launch, Anurag Kumar, Chief Communications Officer, Tata Sky said: “Kannada film industry has seen a continued growth in viewership owing to high quality movie releases in recent years. With the launch of Tata Sky Kannada Cinema in partnership with Colors Kannada, we aim to deliver the best curated content to Sandalwood lovers across the country, enabling a great regional cinema experience.”

     

    Added Parameshwar Gundkal, Business Head- Kannada Entertainment Cluster, Viacom18: “With a contribution of 13% of the total Kannada television viewership, movies is an important genre in entertainment in Karnataka. We are witnessing a sharp growth in regional film consumption across screens. With this partnership, we aim at giving viewers more of what they want via a well curated line-up of uninterrupted blockbuster movies across genres, that will keep the Kannada movie buffs glued to their television screens.”

     

     

  • Viacom18 reinforces Kannada dominance, to launch movie channel on Sep 24

    Viacom18 announced the launch of its second movie channel – Colors Kannada Cinema. This is the network’s second offering in the movie broadcast space, after Rishtey Cineplex in 2016. The channel will launch on September 24, 2018.

     

    Speaking on the occasion, Sudhanshu Vats, Group CEO, Viacom18 said:“Colors Kannada Cinema is an important addition to our offering and a first in genre expansion in the Regional space. This demonstrates our strategic commitment to deepen and widen our presence as we drive Regional growth aggressively. This move would help us to increase our market share, both in terms of viewership and revenue, in the country’s third biggest regional market. Finally, as we look to leverage synergies across our brands, COLORS Kannada Cinema complements our portfolio play across our forays into filmed entertainment production and filmed entertainment broadcast.”

  • KBC Bangla, new shows highlights of Viacom18 regional push

    Viacom18 has announced a major content expansion across the two key markets of Kannada and Bangla. Viacom18’s second Kannada GEC, Colors Super will be bringing in an early second anniversary with six family drama shows and two reality

  • Colors Super to air Bigg Boss Kannada Season 5

    Colors Super, the second Kannada language entertainment channel from Viacom18, has announced the fifth season of Bigg Boss Kannada. Host Kichcha Sudeep will return to the show in a new avatar.

  • Colors Kannada launches finite series – Sanju Mattu Naanu

    We don’t cover news on new show launches unless it’s majorly noteworthy. And this is one such in regional GECs. Colors Kannada presents the first ever finite series on Kannada television – Sanju Mattu Naanu. Starting May 27, the 24-episode show will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9pm.

     

    Commenting on the show, Ravish Kumar – Head, Regional Entertainment, Viacom18 said: “Colors Kannada has always been ahead of the curve in the Kannada entertainment space. Finite series as a format has become popular world over and across all platforms and we’re proud to be introducing the same to our Kannada viewers through Sanju Mattu Naanu. First time ever a real-life love triangle which was brewing inside the Bigg Boss house will now see its culmination in the form of a fiction show.   • Bigg Boss scores high on ETV Kannada

    ETV Kannada’s Bigg Boss that has Kiccha Sudeep as host has opened with a 6.3 TVR on the eviction day over the weekend. It has maintained an average TVR of 4.4 for the week. With Bigg Boss, ETV Kannada has strengthened its position this week by witnessing a 46% growth and touched 279 GRPs, the highest the channel has touched in the last three years.

     

    Talking about this development, ETV Kannada Programming Head – Parameshwar Gundkal said, “Pitching a show such as Bigg Boss in the competitive 8pm prime time slot against other big format shows was a risk, but we are very happy that the risk has paid off very well. Bigg Boss as a format encapsulates entertainment as it is the perfect blend of emotions, drama and unscripted reality. Sudeep has a strong fan following and has brought in a lot of mass appeal and energy to the show keeping the audience enthralled. With a spectacular opening for the show, we hope to keep the graph growing as the season unfolds.”

     

    Commenting on the TRPs, the host of the show, Southern superstar Sudeep said, “I do not give much importance to the TRPs but I am thrilled by the response that the show has garnered. Most important and encouraging is the fact that we have been able to connect with our audience and keep them captivated”
