  • Educator, journalist Eshwar Anand passes away

    Dr V Eshwar Anand, a senior journalist and educator, passed away in Pune on December 30.

     

    He has been a Professor at the Symbiosis International University since 2011 and actively associated with the the university’s Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication. A guide for doctoral students, Dr Anand had an experience of over eight years in Academic Research, 24 years in Journalism and four-odd years in teaching students of Master of Mass Communication. As Member of Academic Council and Board of Studies, he was involved in curriculum design, conceptualisation and execution of the journalism course. He is also the Controller of Examinations (COE), SIMC. As a journalist he worked for around a decade at the Tribune in Chandigarh, as Assistant Editor in Deccan Herald for five-odd years and and around a decade at the Indian Express in Bengaluru before that.  In Journalism, he was engaged in doing editorials and articles on his areas of specialisation. Prior to joining newspapers, he wrote for The Statesman and The Hindustan Times. He has attended several international conferences, and steered an international conference at Symbiosis a few years back.
