The new Philips digital campaign for Diwali conceptualised by Ogilvy talks about how each one of us can ignite a ‘Khushiyon ki Ladi’.
Said Ritu Sharda, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy (North): “We’re all expecting Diwali to be a little different this year, but we’re hoping somethings will still spark that infectious festive spirit. In some way or the other, we will all celebrate Diwali together. So, we thought why don’t we light a ladi this year, a slightly different one, but one that involves everyone.
Dabur Amla Hair Oil has created a new digital campaign around building bonds with loved ones during this lockdown. The film lifts up sentiments around lockdown with a heart-warming story that helps connect with the consumers.
Said Ritu Sharda, Chief Creative Officer Ogilvy India-North: “The lockdown has distanced the world, and people are worried. But we chose to look at it in a slightly different manner. One which is as real as this pandemic, but positive. It didn’t take us long to realise that it has finally given us something we have always longed for – a chance to spend time with our loved ones. So while the world figures out a way to get back together, we urge people to make their bond even more beautiful, by coming closer as a family and strengthening the roots. And a champi, coupled with lengthy conversations, is definitely one way to get there.”
Added Rajeev John, Senior GM Marketing, Dabur: “An age-old brand, Dabur Amla is rooted in strength. It’s a household name spanning across generations. We wanted to ensure a strong emotional connect with the consumer during these tough times. Champi-an act of love, seemed the perfect fit to reassure our consumers that Dabur Amla is as much a part of their everyday lives, even during the lock down. Instead of being more of a product story, we felt it was key to respect the current sentiment & create a simple yet endearing film.”

Dentsu India has appointed Krishna Mani as Executive Creative Director- South. He will be based out of the agency’s Bengaluru office and will report to Malvika Mehra, Chief Creative Officer, Dentsu India.
Previously, Mani worked with Ogilvy Delhi as Group Creative Director, where he handled some of the biggest brands in the country including Sprite, KFC, Voltas, Honda, Philips, Pizza Hut and Dabur.
Talking about the appointment, Mehra said: “Good work is mostly the outcome of happy accidents – good clients colliding with good talent. Add a new location to the mix and one usually lands a winning combo. I’m glad to have managed to lure Krishna from saddi Dilli to namma Bengaluru. Krishna has done some amazing work in the past and with the exciting roster of clients in our offices across South – Bangalore, Chennai and Cochin, I am really looking forward to us creating some magical, new-age work together. With my time divided between the Mumbai and South offices, I can see many delightful evenings spent on the lawns of the Bangalore Club with our teams, cracking ideas that make our clients and Dentsu India famous.”
Malvika Mehra
Commenting on his joining, Mani added: “When you have been in one place for 16 odd years, it’s not easy to leave. A nudge just doesn’t do, you need something way more exciting, more magnetic. That was what Malvika’s call for Dentsu India was for me. When she said there was a great opportunity to create something new, build something special, I was tempted. When she said it’s about leading the agency in the south markets, I was very interested. (Especially now when regional insights are becoming more and more important). When she said the clients are a mix of strong brands and bubbling start-ups, I was finally hooked. Add to this the support of the huge Dentsu Aegis Network; and yes, the weather of Bangalore. I was totally onboard. I have always had a vision of creating media agnostic communication, and today there’s no better place to begin doing that than Dentsu India Bangalore.”

Taco Bell announced the launch of its latest product ‘Chickstar Wrap’, a star-shaped tortilla, filled with crispy chicken, veggies and signature sauces from the house of Taco Bell. The campaign was conceptualised by Taco Bell’s agency-on-record – Ogilvy Delhi.
Expressing his excitement on the new product launch, Ankush Tuli, Managing Director, Taco Bell – Asia Pacific, said: “As we continue to grow in number of restaurants and fan base, we stay committed to bringing new innovations to the Indian food scene. We are now excited to introduce a Taco Bell twist on the traditional chicken burger through the ‘Chickstar Wrap’. Following the successful launches of Naked Chicken Tacos and Crispy Potaco, we are confident that Chickstar Wrap will not only introduce consumers to new and bold flavors, but will also encourage the consumers to try never before seen formats in the out-of-home food category.â€
Added Sidharth Shukla, Vice President & Head of Digital, Ogilvy Delhi: “Our insight was based on the fact that for our target audience trying out experiences is essential. It comes out of a ‘want’ to discover new things and equally from a realization that there is nevertheless a certain rut which has seeped into day to day life. An embodiment of these feelings, we felt, was reflected in the numerous “What’s up?†or “Aur Bata†questions that we receive as we go about our day – The Chickstar Wrap here is the symbolic answer, counter and comeback to this question – putting a new spin from both a format and a taste perspective to a food item which has largely remained unchanged since we have known it. The film remains true to the Taco Bell style that we are now so familiar with – slices of life, witty, young, all of which add to making it very relatable to the audience we wish to engage with.â€
Taco Bell has just launched a unique potato-centric take on the traditional taco. Its new digital film starring comedian Tanmay Bhat connects with Taco Bell’s mission of making potato great.
Commenting on the launch of Crispy Potaco, Sidharth Shukla, Vice President and Head of Digital, Ogilvy Delhi said: “Getting the opportunity to launch another innovative product such as the Crispy Potaco for Taco Bell India was truly awesome. Everyone was geared up, all set to break previous milestones that we had established on both the creative and the business front. And for a product variety that we eat so much of, but barely give it a second thought.
Ogilvy Delhi has launched a new campaign for Philips LEDs. Said Ajay Gahlaut, Deputy Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy India: “While light helps us see things, more often than not, we fail to see how the glare from ordinary light can be harmful to the eyes. So the brief was to tell people how only the right light comes with low glare which is good for their eyes. And therefore their future.â€
Added Chandana Agarwal, Managing Partner, Ogilvy Delhi: “We started on the journey of differentiating our lights basis glare last year. It was a big step to link tiredness of eyes to inappropriate lighting. This year’s communication builds on this proposition further and brings it alive interestingly.â€
Ogilvy Delhi has launched a campaign to curb open defecation. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, one of the key ills to curb is open defecation. The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India, wanted to develop communication that would help bring about this change.
Amitabh Bachchan has shown his commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission and was a natural choice for a campaign on behaviour change. It was also clear that it needed to stay away from messaging and protagonists that came across as preachy. Therefore ‘Bachchanji’ was used in this campaign to make it memorable and interesting.
Said Piyush Pandey, Executive Chairman & Creative Director, Ogilvy South Asia: “Open defecation is not a new or modern problem. It is so deeply entrenched that it is considered normal. To raise a doubt in people’s mind about it was a challenge in itself. The communication would have to break habits and would need to be endearing and assertive without being preachy.  We have worked with Mr Bachchan on many communication campaigns and he himself is associated with the government of India across various issues. Thus the task for us on this campaign to curb open defecation was to use our celebrity’s strengths and yet create communication that is differentiated.â€
Added Ajay Gahlaut, ECD, Ogilvy Group Companies, North: “Any campaign that is designed to change behaviour at a mass level needs to be easily understood by all sections of society. We had Mr Bachchan for our TV ads, so that ensured that the campaign would not be missed and would appeal to everybody. The challenge was to make the campaign a little different and refreshing. Which is where the idea of ‘BachchaJi’ and ‘BachchanJi” came about. After that it was just a matter of making sure that their light -hearted banter addressed all relevant barriers.â€
Ogilvy Delhi has created a digital campaign “You eat, they eat†for KFC’s add HOPE™ initiative, where KFC will contribute upto ₹5*/- from the sale of every bucket. The agency saw an opportunity to use the KFC bucket to raise awareness for the plight of millions of children, suffering from hunger.
The short, animated films provide a glimpse into the lives of the less fortunate kids, Pinky, Raju and Gopal, who spend hours searching for food, every day. The same idea has been extended to various social media platforms. Ogilvy Delhi integrated with Neo@Ogilvy for the packaging innovation, where image recognition technology was used to deliver content directly to smartphones users who bought the bucket.
Ajay Gahlaut
Ajay Gahlaut, Executive Creative Director, Ogilvy Delhi said: “KFC’s anti-hunger initiative, add HOPE, was an opportunity for us to do something different. So instead of following the traditional ways of advertising, we decided to use the KFC bucket as our messenger. We created animated films about underprivileged kids that play only when you order and scan a bucket. This technology-led approach made our films more interactive and inclusive, while pursuing the consumer to contribute for the cause.â€
Rahul Shinde, Managing Director, KFC India added: “Hunger is a very real and big challenge – at least 3,000 children die every day from poor diet related illness. The fact that millions of children go to bed hungry every night means that they are unable to grow, learn and thrive. It is a critical cause to unite behind. We couldn’t be happier to announce that through the month of October, we will contribute towards fighting hunger from the sale of KFC buckets across 300+ stores and online. By making all our buckets add HOPEâ„¢ buckets and carrying audio visual stories of hope on them, we want to call on more people to support the cause. The more they do, the more hungry children we can help feed.â€
Biraja Swain, Chief Growth & Innovation Officer, Head of COE, Neo@Ogilvy, India: We at Ogilvy always believe in innovation at scale. The add HOPEâ„¢  campaign demonstrates it to the fullest extent. We have used image recognition technology to directly deliver content to smartphones enabling better discovery user participation for this CSR campaign.â€
