  • Grasshoppers India to handle creative mandate for NDTV Good Times

    NDTV Good Times has appointed Grasshoppers India as its creative agency. The agency’s mandate is to develop innovative and edgy communication that would create and maintain the channel’s image, which is young and Indian in the minds of socially upbeat, well-travelled, cosmopolitan viewers who want to live in style, admire fashion, are adventurous about food and travel and want more out of every moment in life.

     

    NDTV Good Times was launched in 2007 as the flagship channel of NDTV Lifestyle, which is a part of the NDTV Group. Over the last few years, the channel has redefined the lifestyle entertainment category codes with a lineup of shows that cover all aspects of lifestyle genre to portray and address an increasingly global India. With a focus on providing younger, edgier and more relevant Indian content; through its programming and communication the channel aims to reach out to its young and dynamic audience as their only lifestyle entertainment destination.

    The creative duties have been awarded to Grasshoppers following a multi-agency pitch in which three Delhi-based agencies participated. Speaking about the reasons for choosing Grasshoppers, Arati Singh, Channel Head, NDTV Good Times, said, “The work pitched was fresh, fun and unconventional. It was vibrant and young reflecting exactly what the channel is. The communication, as it was supposed to be, was crisp keeping in mind that it is the young, ambitious and daring Indian youth that it is targeted towards.”

     

    Grasshoppers will manage all the mainline communication for the channel in order to reach out to its consumers across various touch-points and promote everything that happens on the channel. The platforms that will be used during the campaign include advertisements, outdoor branding, radio jingles, OOH, online creatives and on-ground event collateral among other things.

  • NDTV Good Times to sport new identity, #LiveYoung

    Lifestyle television channel NDTV Good Times is turning youthful. The channel is innovating its programming to reach out to Generation Y. One of the most important facets of their new look is the integration of social media in its tagline – #LiveYoung.

    The channel is celebrating its new brand identity at luxury restaurant Shiro on May 7 in Mumbai and May 8 in Bengaluru. The party will see all the anchors and celebs from the channel’s acclaimed shows. Translating their understanding of the role of digital media in the lives of today’s youth, Shiro and NDTV Good Times will be running a contest online that will give four lucky winners an exclusive chance to join the party.

     

  • NDTV Good Times refreshes, adopts #LiveYoung positioning

    Lifestyle entertainment channel NDTV Good Times has refreshed itself and adopted the #LiveYoung positioning from earlier this week. In the new avatar, the channel will take a fresher, edgier and more relevant approach to its programming targeted towards the young and the young at heart, notes a communiqué.

    So what we see is a new logo, icons, idents and colour palette that reflects a “hip-cool on-air” look.   Elaborating on the channel refresh, Smeeta Chakrabarti, CEO, NDTV Lifestyle said, “After an in-depth research and a deep dive into our consumers’ mindset, the channel has recharged its offering. The new visual and content strategy is a direct result of these initiatives, and we are confident that they will resonate and connect with our viewers”.

     

    Said Channel Head Arati Singh:  “The programming of the channel has become more impulsive, interactive and action oriented with a younger and edgier attitude.     As part of its refresh, NDTV Good Times aims to be in tune with viewers’ lives through the week and at different times during the day by introducing dedicated categories such as; ‘Good Night with Good Times’, ‘Good Food with Good Times’, ‘Good Travel with Good Times. Additionally, Kingfisher Supermodel 2013 and Bachelor’s Kitchen with Aditya Bal have been reintroduced with a brand new flavour, with more to come in the next few months.  Highway on My Plate, one of the more popular shows on the channel is scheduled to be seen in a younger avatar, we are told.

     

  • NDTV Good Times tackles life changes

    Lifestyle channel NDTV Good Times has ventured into the home and decor space with a new home improvement show called A Whole New World.

     

    The show is based on the fact that everyone faces a life-changing situation at some point in time – the birth of a child, moving in of parents, moving out of a sibling after marriage. The 13-episode A Whole New World guides viewers in tackling these changes and making their home more suited to their needs.

     

    Hosted by Juhi Pande, the show features experts in the fields of architecture, interior design and home technology, and focuses on transforming one room of the house for the participant to best suit their needs.

  • Highway On My Plate returns with ‘Coast to Coast’

    The popular peripatetic duo Rocky and Mayur are back with another series of Highway On My Plate – Coast to Coast, in which the hosts travel the shoreline of India in search of the best coastal flavours.

     

    Fishing villages, trawlers, fish markets, plantations and highways provide seafood in plenty as well as herbs, spices, plants and fruit that will make sure the vegetarian host, Mayur, as well as vegetarian viewers have plenty to partake of.

     

    The highway explorers thumb rides, punt lifts and hustle free meals as they make friends and eat their way from Gujarat to Bengal. They travel to Mumbai, Kochi, Pondicherry, Chennai, Puri and Kolkata amongst the many other places along the shoreline.

  • NDTV Good Times completes five years

    The lifestyle channel NDTV Good Times is completing five years soon. Taking the celebrations to the audiences, the channel has announced the launch of new shows in the coming months. While the Second Season of the popular food show Vicky Goes Veg and the new season of Aditya Bal’s Chakh Le series are scheduled for September; October will see The Kingfisher Calendar Hunt in its fourth season.

     

    The channel will also enter the all-new segment of home décor with the introduction of two completely novel shows – Whole New World, and Living Right Royally under the Royal Reservation brand umbrella.

  • NDTV expands global reach in US

    NDTV 24×7 and NDTV Good Times is now available on Dish Network in the US, bringing the channels to 74 countries and 18 million households outside India.

     

    Both channels are now a part of Dish Network’s South Asian Mega pack along with other channels from India. In addition, NDTV 24×7 also becomes the first Indian channel to also be available in their international base pack as well.

     

    Commenting on the launch, Vikram Chandra, Executive Director and Group CEO, NDTV Limited said, “NDTV is delighted to be partnering with Dish Network to bring its content to an even wider audience in the US. We recognize that Dish dominates the South Asian market in the US, but we are also delighted that NDTV 24×7 will also be available to a wider audience through their International base pack.     The launch of NDTV 24×7 in Dish Network’s international base pack comes close on the heels of the launch on Virgin in the UK, where it also became the only Indian channel to be launched in their basic pack.

  • NDTV Good Times’ tie-up with Geo TV for Foodistan

    NDTV Good Times, which is all set to host the mega food reality show Foodistan, has tied up with Geo TV to telecast the show in Pakistan. Atul Seth, Vice President - Development, NDTV Lifestyle Limited disclosed this news to MxM India.

     

    When asked why NDTV Good Times chose to partner with Geo, Mr Seth said: “It is the largest network in Pakistan and the most respected. It has been a beautiful relationship with them so far and we have been in constant touch with the group, and the response from their end has been very good. We would ideally like to do a simul-cast in both the countries, but the timings are not certain as they might clash with some religious ceremony.”

     

    The show will be launched in Pakistan soon. According to Mr Seth, Geo TV is keen to broadcast and partner with NDTV Group, not just one season, but for seasons that will follow.

     

    When asked for further details on the deal, Mr Seth clarified: “Right now it’s only about them showcasing our content, but eventually we probably will look at a situation where both partners will co-produce the show. It is still too early to announce as the talk are in nascent stages, but perhaps that is the way forward.”

     

    The reality show will premiere in India on January 23 on NDTV Good Times. The show will feature 16 chefs from India and Pakistan in a battle of culinary supremacy. At the end of it all, the reality show will have one winner.

     

    The 26 part series would be judged by eminent food critic, avid traveler and gourmand at heart Vir Sanghvi along with Bollywood actress Sonya Jehan and Merrilees Parker (popular British Chef and presenter). The tri-weekly show will be hosted by Aly Khan and Ira Dubey.

    NDTV Good Times,India’s first premium lifestyle channel, hosted the second edition of the NDTV Good Times Food Awards at The Westin, Gurgaon on Saturday. The channel honoured top restaurants, restaurateurs and chefs from across the nation in a gala awards ceremony. The venue resonated with the presence of celebrated faces, food enthusiasts, restaurant owners, chefs and other noted guests.

     

    Within a year the NDTV Good Times Food Awards have become the definitive standard to the best in the industry. With an unmatched expert panel that is unbiased and uncompromising when it comes to food, the awards have become the last word in the food and beverage space.

     

    Among the many highlights of the event, was a Sufi jugalbandi by The Mekaal Hasan Band and Harshdeep Kaur. The Highway on My Plate duo, Rocky & Mayur kept the audience in splits with their humour and charm.

    Premium lifestyle channel NDTV Good Times is presenting the second edition of the NDTV Good Times Food Awards, honouring veterans and achievers from the food industry, at a gala night at The Westin, Gurgaon on December 17.

     

    NDTV Good Times is India’s top-ranked English-language lifestyle television channel and the KAFF NDTV Good Times Food Awards are considered to be the definitive guide to the best in the industry. The awards are selected by an expert jury of renowned names such as Vinod Dua, Ritu Dalmia, Marut Sikka, Aditya Bal, Vicky Ratnani, and Rocky and Mayur. The awards will be hosted once again by the witty and charming Rocky and Mayur.

     

    This year the awards consist of two categories – the jury’s choice and the viewer’s choice award which is a single award category where the viewers will decide ‘The Best Foodie City’ through their votes. The city that gets the maximum votes gets crowned The Foodie City of India.

     

    Announcing the second NDTV Good Times Food Awards, Smeeta Chakrabarti, Chief Executive Officer, NDTV Lifestyle, said: “After the overwhelming response we received last year, we are really looking forward to present the second NDTV Good Times Food Awards. This year we’re pulling out all stops to make the awards bigger. With the introduction of the viewers’ choice award category, we hope to involve our loyal viewers in the process of choosing their favourite foodie city.”

     

    There, winners are chosen by on-ground, SMS and online voting on goodtimes.ndtv.com. For selection through on-ground voting, 10 cities have been short-listed, where 100 ballot boxes have been kept in popular restaurants for a period of 3-4 weeks from November 10 onwards.

     

    Votes from these ballot boxes are tabulated by Ernst & Young and, along with the SMS and online figures, will decide the winning city. One lucky person and the restaurant that gets the maximum number of votes from the winning city gets the chance to attend the gala night in Delhi.

     

    The jury has already shortlisted the top five restaurants on the basis of the research conducted by Ernst & Young. Final scoring will be reviewed one more time closer to the awards for a final seal of approval from the jury and winners will be announced on the night of the awards.

     

    All awards are based on achievements during the preceding 12 months.
