  • Delhi offices of Lowe Lintas & LinTeractive bag new biz mandate of India Gate Basmati Rice

    By A Correspondent

The MullenLowe Lintas Group has been mandated to offer its creative and digital services to rice brand India Gate Basmati Rice. While Lowe Lintas Delhi will handle the creative services for the brand, LinTeractive will work towards offering core digital capabilities.

The multi-agency pitch saw participation from a host of agencies who were edged out by the Delhi offices of Lowe Lintas and LinTeractive for their conviction of offering the client an effective creative approach that would lead to high ROI for the brand. The duo would work towards making India Gate Basmati a household name that all can count on and consume with pride.

India Gate Basmati Rice is part of KRBL Limited, which is a 120-year-old firm dealing in branded basmati rice. Commenting on the association with the two divisions of MullenLowe Lintas Group, Ayush Gupta, Marketing Head, KRBL Limited said: “We have decided to associate ourselves with Lowe Lintas Delhi, which is currently the top creative agency in the world as per Warc 2016, and also LinTeractive as we saw immense promise in their plan for our brand. Our decision was based on the agency’s reputation for delivering the highest ROI to its clients with their creative effectiveness and problem-solving attitude. We are confident that India Gate Basmati Rice will become a household name in the coming months and be a highly preferred option for consumers throughout the country.”

On winning the new mandate, Naveen Gaur, President, Lowe Lintas Delhi said: “Rice consumption seems to be a popular trait that most consumers enjoy in the country. We are excited with the core idea that we have drawn up for the brand and hope to see it scale even greater heights going forward.”

Adding his views, Sumanta Ganguly, EVP-LinTeractive said, “We believe it’s a great opportunity to use content as a key differentiator to deliver consistent engagement in today’s ever trending digital media environment.”

  • What the Jury Foremen said

The jury session of the Kyoorius Advertising, Digital and Media Awards happened last week in Mumbai. The D&AD-backed jury saw a mix of top international and Indian names in the business. Anuka Roy caught up with the Jury Foremen of the three categories about the process followed

    R. Balki, Group Chairman, Mullen Lowe Lintas Group

    Advertising Awards Jury Foreman

On the judging process: It was an open jury and a very transparent process.

About the entries this year: There are a few gems which are hidden under a lot of mediocre stuff. I think the percentage of good work is higher on the whole

Whether the entries were at par with international  standards: There is no such thing  as an international standard. Advertising is not about international standards, it is about what is different, creative and relevant to our audience, and I do not think there is any one standard, either globally or locally. We produce work they cannot produce and vice versa because it is for two different kinds of audience. There is no International or Indian. There is just a standard for great advertising. What our country produces is different in thought, but it is phenomenal. And we should preserve our uniqueness.

Ralph Barnett, National Creative Director, Sapient Nitro

    Digital Awards Jury Foreman

On the judging process: The judging was always going to be tricky and complex. I think we wrestled hard with the categories, but at the end of the day, the cream rose to the top. The good work stood out.

About the entries this year: There is a spectrum of entries, from stand-out work to the kind of expected work that you would see from around the world.

Whether the entries were at par with international standards: I think, definitely. The best work coming out of India can hold its own against the best work from other parts of the world. Each is special in its own right because it celebrates the unique cultural attributes of Indian society. I also think some of them resonate at a global level as well because they deal with universal issues. Certainly, India has the calibre of creative talent to mix and match with some of the best in the world.

Mike Florence, Head of Planning, PHD Media

    Media Awards Jury Foreman

On the judging process: I really enjoyed the judging process, t is an open process and I think all judging should be that way. Actually, most judges always judge for the best work and what people think, what goes behind closed doors may not be the (right) case. It is good to have this (the judging process in Kyoorius) openness from the beginning. On a personal level, it is amazing to see work relating to the nuances of Indian people and culture. What it also means for me is that some of the advertising can also make the world a better place. There are certain problems that need to be fixed, like giving women a louder voice, which, campaigns like Ariel’s ‘Share the load’ help do.

About the entries this year: They are of a really good quality. India’s got real talent out there. Some of the campaigns are great. I think, potentially, entries in future should think about the categories they are being placed in. I think we can get a bit tight on that. Overall, the quality was as good as at Cannes or anywhere else.

Whether the entries were at par with international standards: Definitely. I think the ones which I believe were good would definitely stand on a global stage. In June, Cannes will also see some of this work.  Indeed, India is a contender on the world stage. The ‘Share the Load’ work is as good as any agency in the world can produce, and I do think it can clean up in Cannes. There is brilliant talent and loads of opportunity. A lot of the work can help make the world better, make India better and that means it has got the attention of the world because related marketing is what people strive for the most.

  • L&T appoints LinTeractive as digital marketing agency

    By A Correspondent

Lin Teractive, the digital division of Mullen Lowe Lintas Group has bagged the mandate for digital marketing of L&T across all its businesses, including performance media buys.

After a multi-agency pitch that saw leading national agencies compete, L&T chose LinTeractive as its digital partner. L&T was impressed with LinTeractive’s strategic framework which provides a roadmap for companies looking to be digital future ready in communications.

    Deepak Morada

Commenting on the appointment, Deepak Morada, Vice President Corporate Brand Management & Communications at L&T said: “Digital is a key focus area and as a group we wanted to go beyond looking at it as just another medium, truly harnessing the power of digital to change the conversation. At L&T, we’re at the forefront of technology across multiple domains and industries – we aim to provide an equally cutting edge experience to our customers, and we have reason to believe that LinTeractive possesses the requisite skills and experience.”

    Sumanta Ganguly

The challenges of digital for a large conglomerate is not a simple thing, but Sumanta Ganguly, Executive Vice President, LinTeractive feels that it needs to start with changing how digital is perceived across the multiple stakeholders inside the organization.

On the state of digital marketing in India, Ganguly commented: “The business of digital in India for most brands today remains an additional check box –a thing to do. At LinTeractive we look at digital as a way of doing things instead. With L&T we sensed an opportunity to deploy the power of this concept in response to the increasingly digital world of today.”

    Vikas Mehta

On partnering L&T, Vikas Mehta, Group CMO & President – Marketing Services, MullenLowe Lintas Group said: “In the past 70 odd years, the L&T Group has played a pivotal role in building things that are at the core of today’s India. During these 70 odd years, Lintas has partnered hundreds of brands into becoming a part of India’s popular culture. The opportunity to collaborate with L&T, as they aim to re-imagine their businesses for a digital world, is a matter of great pride for the MullenLowe Lintas Group. We realize the tremendous responsibility that L&T has entrusted LinTeractive with.”

  • dCell develops Visual Identity for Raw Pressery juices

    By A Correspondent

dCell, the strategic design consultancy of Mullen Lowe Lintas Group, has developed the visual pack architecture for Raw Pressery’s benefit and classic range of juices. Cold-pressed juice brand Raw Pressery has been founded by entrepreneur Anuj Rakyan and is unique in the sense that its products are made from a combination of fruits, vegetables, nuts, spices and super foods without any heat or air thereby ensuring freshness for longer duration.

    Anuj Rakyan

Commenting on the brief given to dCell, Anuj Rakyan, Founder and Managing Director of Raw Pressery said, “We wanted to create a master brand architecture for the benefits and our new classic range of juices to create a consistent, effective visual identity. With the new classic range, we wanted to reach out to a larger health conscious segment that often ends up being shortchanged by ‘100% juice’ brands. We’re excited with the creative output provided by dCell and wish the product gains popularity with the consumers as well.”

    Tasneem Ali

Sharing the creative approach taken by the agency, Tasneem Ali, Executive Creative Director, dCell said, “Raw Pressery was taking a big leap from being a mostly online, home delivery based brand, to one where retail shelf presence is vital. Having a clear pet bottle in the universe of tetra packs is not just a differentiator on the shelf but gives an assurance of quality and purity, with plenty of taste appeal. As Raw Pressery has a loyal consumer base, we decided to build on what we felt had going for it. Retaining the original bold, simple, handcrafted logotype, we created a device holder to ensure the visibility of the logo on the various coloured juices. By linking the logo with the fruit graphic, we reinforced the brand promise to rely only on the fruit, and nothing else, to deliver on quality and taste. The free flowing illustration style is candid, uninhibited, honest, and true to the brand ‘Raw’.

From the bottle format, to the logo and the illustration style, to the tone of voice of the back of pack copy and the way the information is presented, everything works in tandem to deliver the brand message: Raw Pressery is truly All Good, No Bad”.

Started in 2013 by the former marketer as an experiment to fill the gaps in India’s health beverages market, RAW Pressery has become very popular among fitness enthusiasts who started consuming the cold-pressed apple, beetroot, ginger, carrot and lemon juices as detox drinks. Rakyan started the company in Mumbai through a home-subscription model before selling in supermarkets such as Foodhall, a chain of gourmet stores by Kishore Biyani’s Future Group.

The company manages procurement, production and packaging in-house and the juices are available at Rs 55 onwards for Classic Range for 250 ml bottle and at Rs 150 for Benefit Blends for 250 ml bottle.

  • LinTeractive bags digital mandate of Stuffcool; unveils brand campaign titled #LilThingsMatter

    By A Correspondent

To further drive its message as being the leader in the space, accessories player Stuffcool has appointed LinTeractive, the digital agency of Mullen Lowe Lintas Group as its digital partner. LinTeractive would work towards positioning Stuffcool as the partner of choice for digital wares and also enhance its reach as a trustworthy player throughout India.

Commenting on the appointment, Hemang Budhdeo – Director, Nissan Enterprises Ltd said: “The smartphone market in India is witnessing an unwavering growth which obviously spells more opportunities for us. We are glad to have LinTeractive partner us at this exciting phase as we look to expand our territories and further build up our customer base in India. We look forward to striking a meaningful relationship with the team and hope to chart out new frontiers in our quest of being the best in the space.”

    Vikas Mehta

Part of Nissan Enterprises Limited, Stuffcool caters to those looking to source essential gear like mobile cases, screen protectors, cables, chargers, selfie-sticks and other enhancements for their smartphones. The firm is known to have cultivated the branded accessories market in India and pave the pathway for easy availability of quality accessories to end consumers.   Sharing his views on winning the business, Vikas Mehta, Group CMO | President, Group Marketing Services, Mullen Lowe Lintas Group said, “Devices are a bigger part of our lives today than most things we own. Stuffcool makes cool accessories for these devices, making it an inspiring brand to work with. The market is flooded with accessories but few great accessory brands. We are glad on the opportunity presented to LinTeractive to partner Stuffcool and hope to get the little things right for them.”

Flagging off the partnership, LinTeractive has drawn up an extensive online campaign under the theme #LilThingsMatter. It has engaged in a whole lot of initiatives on and off line to drive home the core theme of #LilThingsMatter. Contests were run on social media – Facebook & Twitter where users were asked to share their experiences about the little things that make a difference to their lives, encourage discussions around the theme without revealing anything about the brand proposition. Following this, a brand film was launched along with a 5-day-contest on FB/Twitter where Stuffcool.comgot customers to engage with the brand over its online platform.

    Hemang Budhdeo

Sharing his views on the integrated digital campaign that has been planned, Hemang Budhdeo said: “Our products play the role of a catalyst in the life of the consumer in a little way but have great impact. We approached LinTeractive with this brief, and they came up with #LilThingsMatter that says how little things (tech accessories) make a huge difference to the gadgets that people use and interspersed the same with life-situations around consumers. We are glad with the initial response that has been generated on the back of the new campaign.”

The video campaign builds the brand philosophy through real life instances in a very artistic manner. Simple things like running out of battery, enjoying your time with friends while taking a selfie and other such nuances involving a mobile phone have been brought out in an imaginative manner. The background score in the campaign is a catchy one and has been incorporated to establish an emotional connect with the consumers. The film touches upon the values of love, care, friendship, trust while highlighting how products from Stuffcool help achieve little moments of joy.

Commenting on the thought process behind the idea, Paul Dueman, Senior Vice President, LinTeractive said, “The campaign is our answer to differentiating Stuffcool from the other players in the accessories market. The strategy was to highlight instances, however small, that matter to consumers today and the positive impact it creates in their lives. We are confident that #LilThingsMatter as brand credo, backed with a series of creative narrations and engagements planned for 2016, will do well to connect with their consumers.”

    By A Correspondent

Following the recent announcement regarding the launch of the new creative agency Mullen Lintas, with Amer Jaleel as Chairman and CCO, Mullen Lowe Lintas Group unveiled more details about the new agency.

Mullen Lintas officially launches on August 1, and will be headquartered in Mumbai with offices in New Delhi (NCR) and Bengaluru. Speaking of the new agency, Joseph George, Group CEO–Mullen Lowe Lintas Group says, “India has birthed several big brands over the last two decades. However, for a long time, the top agency brands have remained largely unchanged. Mullen Lintas is a product of the evolving marketing landscape, and with our “big agency” ambition, we intend to partner brands whose ambitions are driven by a passionate pursuit of leadership by presenting ourselves as a compelling challenger to the likes of Lowe Lintas, Ogilvy and JWT”

Mullen Lowe Lintas Group also announced the appointment of Virat Tandon as CEO of Mullen Lintas. Virat returns to India after a three year stint with Mullen Lowe Group in Singapore where he was Global Business Director for the Unilever brands Lifebuoy and Fair & Lovely.

Our founding team has the pedigree and the class of massive brand-successes under their belt. Big agencies are today, dealing with the new marketing landscape and adapting their offerings to it. Our advantage is that Mullen Lintas has no such baggage and that allows us to leap-frog this need to change and adapt. Shriram spoke of his new role, “A great ambition for the agency and a wonderful team to work with, I am excited about what we can create. Our approach to enriching our capabilities is what we call ‘core plus one’. While we continue to practice our core skill sets, we will commit ourselves to adding people who bring with them a +1 skill or area of expertise. We believe this is critical and makes us ‘present ready’.”

Currently ECD and creative head for the Delhi offices of Lowe Lintas, Shriram moves to Mumbai in this new role. He has been with the group since 1998 and played various roles in the creative team at Lowe Lintas’ Mumbai and Delhi offices.
