  • Cadbury 5 Star changes logo to Five Stars

    By Our Staff

Cadbury 5 Star, the chocolate brand from Mondelez India, has taken its tagline ‘Do Nothing’, a notch higher. The brand has simplified its logo into a graphic of five stars. The campaign is created and conceptualised by Ogilvy Mumbai.

Said Nitin Saini, Vice President – Marketing, Mondelez India: “With every subsequent Cadbury 5 Star campaign, we have strived to do something out of the box while shining a spotlight on the ‘Do Nothing’ proposition. As a youth centric brand, all our recent efforts were aimed to resonate with the current generation – from NothingCoin, to our Valentine’s Day alibi campaign ‘My Cousin’s Wedding’ campaign. Now with #5StarsEverywhere, the goal is to get consumers to engage with the brand in the most inventive way possible. By simply tweaking our logo, the brand has created waves by investing next to nothing on advertising and still gaining maximum eyeballs across almost every app. Steering away from the quintessential way of promotions, Cadbury 5 Star adds a fresh perspective by relaxing and leveraging the five-star review on the apps to spread the sweet message – Do Nothing.”

Added Sukesh Nayak, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy India: “Cadbury 5 Star believes in the philosophy of ‘Doing Nothing’. To solidify this idea in young minds, we conceptualized a smart hack with #5StarEverywhere. This is a disruptive, app takeover idea which maximises partnerships by ensuring that 5 Star’s brand logo integration happens effortlessly across apps which have a rating mechanism. In the festive season when brands bombard consumers with thousands of branded ads, we cleverly re-designed the 5 Star wrapper to mimic the ‘ratings’ section which are present across most apps and subliminally turned them into ads for 5 Star. So now anyone who sees an app rating page will think of Cadbury 5 Star. Yes, you will see a 5 Star literally everywhere. The list goes across platforms, service categories, languages, and countries. What adds to the fun, thanks to our ingenious idea, is that the brand will achieve to be literally everywhere and be part of fun conversations by doing nothing beyond the regular media budget.”

  • Saare Jahaan Se Achcha

If it was the Olympics, it would’ve merited a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But this is just an advertising festival, where work are recognised for commercial work, so perhaps expecting a call from the PM would be a bit much.

The victories of the Indian contingent last week though are worthy of that call. Indian creative agencies brought home 47 metals, and this does not include the shortlists.

Dentsu Creative Bengaluru was named Cannes Lions 2022 Agency of the Year, as well as awarded a Titanium, three Grand Prix, two Gold Lions and three Silver Lions for ‘The Unfiltered History Tour’ for Vice Media. This also makes the campaign the most awarded campaign ever. Note: it’s an agency from Bengaluru and not Mumbai or New Delhi NCR.

Said Amit Wadhwa, CEO, Dentsu Creative India. “When you begin Cannes Lions with a Grand Prix, you think you have already hit a lifetime achievement, but this week just got better and better. It is hard to describe how we feel on receiving three Grand Prix, let alone a Titanium and to top it all off, Agency of the Year – it is a moment to rejoice for each one of us at Dentsu Creative India. The team is just so proud of the work, but also the outcome too,” adding: “We got the world talking about something which really matters deeply, something which will change the way that historically important artefacts are handled in the future, and in turn could change the way that history is taught to millions around the world. Now that is very special indeed.”

Added Ajay Gahlaut, Group Chief Creative Officer India, Dentsu Creative: “Winning the Agency of the Year is an emotion I cannot even begin to describe. When I used to watch other agencies win the title I often wondered if I ever would get that same honour. What they say is true. Dreams DO come true! I’m over the moon with the Titanium win along with the hat trick of Grand Prix and a whole lot of other metals. Not just me I think no one in the entire Indian ad industry has been part of such a huge haul of Lions ever before. And I do believe we are the first full-service Indian agency to win the title of Agency of the Year. I doff my hat to the entire team responsible for the Unfiltered History Tours. Those who are with us now and those who have moved on. Congratulations all. For now, it’s party time!”

The other Grand Prix this year went to VMLY&R India’s ‘The Killer Pack’ campaign for Maxx Flash in the Health & Wellness Lions category to Leo Burnett for its ‘The Missing Chapter’ campaign for P&G India’s Whisper. This was a Grand Prix for Sustainable Development Goals Lions, again a first for India.

Meanwhhile, Ogilvy India also brought home a Titanium Lion for  Mondelez  India’s ‘Shah Rukh Khan My Ad’ campaign. The work also bagged two Golds, a Silver and a Bronze.

Said Piyush Pandey, Chairman Global Creative & Executive Chairman India, Ogilvy: “I am delighted that the people’s choice is also the jury’s choice. I am very proud of the team that worked on it.”

As the table indicates, FCB has continued its winning spree and netted as many as 14 metals.

  • Ogilvy creates campaign for Bournvita Biscuits

    By Our Staff

Bournvita Biscuits has rolled out its new proposition, ‘More Taakat To You’.

Speaking about the campaign Sunainika Singh, Director – Biscuits & Bakes, Marketing, Mondelez India said: “Since the launch of Bournvita Biscuits in 2016, it has emerged as the preferred morning snack enriched with the wholesome taste of Cadbury Bournvita. However, with changing times, we understand that kids today want to do a lot more and require extra nutrition to keep them going through the day. Addressing this, our new campaign appeals to parents looking for nutritious all-day snacking options, while bringing alive the brand’s latest proposition- ‘More Taakat* To You’.”

Added Ramakrishnan Hariharan (Executive Creative Director, Ogilvy India): “More Taakat to you is an expression of support and encouragement. It’s like saying ‘more power to you’ to someone in need of that extra little push. That kind of reassurance, coming from a mother for her child, is rooted in product delivery, and at the same time sets a contemporary tone of voice. Simply put, it’s the core product promise that has helped us craft a convincing brand promise. Aim is to forge a connection with young mothers, and more importantly, their go-getter children.”

  • Cadbury 5 Star launches first digital currency campaign

    By Our Staff

Cadbury 5 Star launches its first digital currency called ‘NothingCoin’, that gets mined while you do nothing. The brand has partnered with Paytm and Reliance JioMart for customers to redeem their earned ‘NothingCoins’.

Speaking about the campaign, Anil Viswanathan, Senior Director – Marketing, Mondelez India, said: “Gen Z today is in a constant hustle mode list – right from balancing their studies, finding a job, having an active social life to worrying about their investment plans. We truly feel they deserve some downtime and perhaps a much-needed digital detox. As a brand that has been at the heart of our country’s youth culture through innovative campaigns and quirky narratives, the introduction of NothingCoin is our attempt to inspire them to take a break in the most engaging and rewarding manner. This campaign reiterates Cadbury 5 Star’s brand persona of being witty and speaking in a language that excites the youth.”

Added Sukesh Nayak, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy India: “NothingCoin is an innovative engagement idea that’s witty, catchy and fun, just how a 5 Star idea should be. For the always-on generation, 5 Star’s NothingCoin is a smarter way to take a much-needed digital break, do nothing and yet get rewarded. And what made the idea zanier was opening an actual bank which encouraged people to mine NothingCoins by simply doing nothing.”

  • @Effie2021: McCann rules again. HUL tops client roster

    By Our Staff

If you don’t see the customary photograph of the winning agency folk in jubilation on stage, it’s because this is an awards event being held in the pandemic.

Although the restrictions on holding events has eased, the Effie Awards is different. In normal years, one needs to visit an ENT specialist on the day after. Given all the hullabaloo that happens. Heck, are we getting confused with the Emvies. Perhaps yes. It’s been a while since the Advertising Club has had one of its top draw award shows, and although the International Advertising Assoication conducted three awards in Mumbai in the last month-odd, the Ad Club Effies are decidedly the most coveted.

The reason is simple: It measure efficiency of the creative. And it’s a part of a global network of awards. So the scores here add up to the global rankings and which are exceedingly critical for worldwide client pitches.

Under normal circumstances, an MxM report wouldn’t have highlighted the sponsors of the event, but given the times we live in, every sponsorship needs to be recognised. So: Colors was presenting sponsor. The event was powered by MX Player and Aditya Birla Capital was Category Sponsor.

So you’ve read the headline, but here’s it again: Hindustan Unilever and McCann Worldgroup India bagged the Client and the Agency of the Year titles respectively while The Ogilvy Group and Mondelez India were awarded the Grand Effie for Cadbury Dairy Milk’s campaign “Melting Power Distance”.

Effie Awards 2021 were held virtually this year, so it was minus all the hooting and cheer, and minus Brian Tellis as the sponsor. The only bright spot was that the event started on time ended way before most people have consumed their third.

The good news is that the Ad Club received a record 950 entries and saw participation from 51 agencies.

Speaking about the participants and winners at the coveted Effies, Partha Sinha, President of The Advertising Club said: “Looking at the cases that have won here today, you will know for a fact that this is the highest level of award in this country. Effie India today is the most definitive award in the country – and is revered by both the client and the agency. I want to thank every single member of the jury, the participating agencies and the sponsors. You know that this award has reached the level thanks to all of you. Let the celebrations continue but more importantly let the effectiveness culture continue. As I had mentioned before we are going to hold Effie effectiveness workshops in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. Watch this space for more details.”

Elaborating on the awards, Mitrajit Bhattacharya, Chairperson, Effie India said: “It gives me great pleasure to deliver the first virtual awards presentation of Effie India. It has been a long and tough journey over the past one and half years to bring this to life. To judge 950 entries over two rounds of judging by 520 judges, with minimal physical meetings has been quite a task. I thank each participating agency and client for their support. And a big thank you to our sponsors, the Ad Club managing committee, Effie committee and the Ad Club secretariat to make this possible.”

  • Ogilvy’s mental health campaign for Bournvita

    By Our Staff

Cadbury Bournvita has rolled out ‘Get The Message’, a digital-first campaign aimed at raising awareness around kids’ mental and emotional well-being and partner with parents in this journey. The campaign was conceptualized and brought to life in partnership with Ogilvy India and mental health organisation, The Minds Foundation.

Speaking about the campaign, Inderpreet Singh, Associate Director – Marketing (Beverages, Meals, Candies & Gums), Mondelez India, said: “The pandemic and the subsequent lockdown brought forth a new parenting challenge. The physical restrictions of social isolation, schools being shut, being constantly cooped up at home has impacted children mentally. The signs of children struggling with their mental and emotional health are often very subtle and sometimes not picked up or tend to be misread by parents. As a trusted brand that has always highlighted the need for progressive and holistic parenting, #GetTheMessage campaign is an attempt to help parents identify these signs and provide them with the right resources to ensure their children’s mental and emotional wellbeing. The idea leverages technology in a smart way to provide resources to parents and break the taboo around this topic.”

Added Dr Raghu Appasani, CEO, Minds Foundation: “Mental health is something we all have and therefore it is important to be able to understand it in oneself and in others. Through this incredible partnership with Cadbury Bournvita, we have been able to curate our years of evidence-backed mental health research and expertise into easy to understand, interactive and accessible resources for parents and make it available across the country. As you explore the chatbot and the website, you will come across educational materials on how to engage with children struggling with their mental health, have difficult conversations, equip them with tools for resilience, and develop stronger relationships. Additionally, we have been able to provide access to a toll-free 24/7 helpline for parents to reach out. This is just the beginning of our partnership with Cadbury Bournvita and we are very excited to continue our journey and mission to provide further resources.”

Said Akshay Seth, Group Creative Director & Chinmay Raut, Senior Creative Director, Ogilvy India: “The signs of mental health struggles are there for one to see as well as miss. We wanted to mirror this reality in a very organic way through the films by showing the point of view of both, the parent, and the child. For parents the sign can be easy to miss but children seek a shoulder, and we wanted the audience to be that shoulder. By getting the viewer to have a conversation with the affected kid on WhatsApp via a bot, we are breaking the wall and making the viewer understand the condition a little better. We are also empowering parents to reach out for further help via counsellors so that MannKiTayyari no longer gets overlooked.”

  • Ogilvy films for special Raksha Bandhan packs from Cadbury

    By Our Staff

Cadbury Celebrations has launched of a special campaign for this year’s Raksha Bandhan – #MyFirstRakhi. The campaign has been created by Ogilvy India.

Commenting on the campaign, Anil Viswanathan, Senior Director – Marketing, Mondelez India, said: “For years now, Mondelez India has been an innate part of festivals and occasions like Raksha Bandhan, and has redefined the joy of gifting and shared moments with Cadbury Celebrations. Through #MyFirstRakhi, we wanted to make a meaningful difference to the lives of these kids who don’t get to experience festivals like we do. To celebrate Rakhi you need to feel the touch of its threads and hence we provided a solution to give them a sense of touch. With the focus on spreading happiness and banking on the proposition of ‘Kuch Achha Ho Jaaye, Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye’, the campaign promises a new start for children who have missed experiencing the joy of celebrating this festival in its truest sense.”

Commenting on the campaign, Sukesh Nayak, Chief Creative Officer – Ogilvy India, added: “Raksha Bandhan is a very special festival celebrated across the country. With #MyFirstRakhi we are helping ensure that every brother who has so far missed experiencing the joy of celebrating this festival, can now feel the bonds of this beautiful relationship on his hand.”

  • Cadbury targets cyber-bullying in campaign

    By Our Staff

Cadbury Dairy Milk has rolled out the next phase of its #HeartTheHate Campaign. Initiated in 2019, the campaign confronts the issue of cyber-bullying and encourages its audiences to express generosity.

Commenting on the launch of the second edition of the campaign, Anil Viswanathan, Senior Director – Marketing, Mondelez India, said: “Cadbury Dairy Milk as a brand, believes that a little bit of generosity can go a long way and often it’s the smallest things that have the biggest impact. Cyber-bullying is something which affects everyone especially today’s youngsters. Apart from the direct impact of bullying, the apathy of the silent bystander impacts the victims in a big way. While we were pleased to see the impact created online through #HeartTheHate which leveraged this insight, in 2019, we knew there was a lot of work still left to do. Through the next phase of the campaign, we hope to further reiterate Purple Heart as an emoticon that helps express solidarity with the bullied. This campaign leverages technology in a smart way to make consumers understand how breaking their silence and standing up for the victims can make a huge difference in their lives.”

Commenting on the campaign, Neville Shah, Executive Creative Director, Ogilvy India, added: “The idea makes you see the effect of cyberbullying. Something we as silent bystanders, ignore. Because while the bullying or trolling maybe just words online, they have an impact in the real world. We shouldn’t ignore it. And we shouldn’t ask the victims to ignore it. So, a little push, a gentle nudge, a soft reminder to ask us bystanders to stand up and simply share a Purple Heart. Make the person smile. Let them know it’s NOT just trolls out there.”

  • Cadbury Perk brings back Alia Bhatt

    By Our Staff

Cadbury Perk has roped in Alia Bhatt yet again for a new campaign. The film encourages consumers to face life’s twist and turns with tagline ‘Take It Light’.

Said Anil Viswanathan, Senior Director, Marketing (Chocolates), Insights and Analytics, Mondelez India: “Cadbury Perk has been rooted in the youth culture, since its inception almost 25 years ago, owing to its fun persona and relevant messaging – we propagated the message of ‘Masti’ from 2015 which resonated well and helped establish Perk as a fun brand. This time, we wanted to be rooted in the product and reinforce the delightfully light eat-experience of Perk. Today’s youth believe in facing life’s stresses with lightness. Our launch film and tagline ‘Perk khao, Light ho jao’ attempts to land the message that Perk is THE light chocolate, in a fun manner, through the route of levitation. In the past, we have had lively and high-spirited personalities to cater to the youth cosmos like Preity Zinta, Genelia D’souza and Ananya Panday who embody what Cadbury Perk stands for – youth, fun and Joie De Vivre. With Alia Bhatt back on-board as the face of the brand, we are positive that she will bring the ‘Take It Light’ proposition to life effortlessly with her bubbly persona and strong youth connect.”

Added Sukesh Nayak, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy India: “This is a super fun idea on lightness, executing this was truly a ball. Working with Alia, Pavail and Bob was just lots of masti. I believe, the social surround around the idea and the film will beautifully bring the core idea to life – Perk khao, light ho jao.”
