  • Famous Innovations is ‘Green Agency Of The Year’ at Olive Crown

    The India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) hosted the 13th edition of its annual property, the Olive Crown Awards 2023, in Mumbai. The awards recognised individuals and corporates who drove the message of sustainability or ‘green advertising’. Famous Innovations bagged 10 awards across categories including the ‘Green Agency Of The Year’. The awards were presented across 17 different categories, including the coveted title ‘Green Crusader of the Year’ award, which was presented to P N Mohan for: his vision and commitment to restore lakes, dedication in mobilizing people and funds for this cause, for his single-minded focus that led to seven lakes (near Chennai) coming back to life and for being an inspiration to others and giving them the courage to aim high.:

     

    Said Avinash Pandey President IAA (India Chapter): “The Olive Crown Awards are a symbol of the intention our Association has to use communication as a force for good. The planet belongs to us all, and we owe it to future generations to leave it in a good shape for them. The winning work has been outstanding and should work as an inspiration to content creators and advertisers to carry this torch further and leave a significant imprint on the sands of time.”

     

    Added Janak Sarda, Chairman of the Olive Crown Committee Janak Sarda, “The Olive Crown awards presentation event is always something special. We not only have the who’s who of the marketing, advertising and media fraternity with us, but they are all focussed on doing good. The supporters and the attendees are all actually symbolic of the intent of our industry to add to the efforts that will keep Planet Earth Green and Clean.”

     

    The jury comprised Bobby Pawar, Chairman & Chief Creative Officer, Havas Group India; K V Sridhar, Global Chief Creative Officer Nihilent Ltd & Hypercollective; Garima Khandelwal, Chief Creative Officer, Mullen Lintas; Raj Nair, CEO & Chief Creative Officer, Madison BMB and Carlton D’Silva, Co-Founder, House of Awe.

     

  • IAA presents second series of gaming by Young Professionals

    IAA Young Professionals (YP) wing of the India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) presented the second session in the series of Gaming: The Next Big Thing.

    Donning his twin responsibilities, both as Vice President – Digital Innovation IAA Global and Vice President – IAA Young Professionals Development, Janak Sarda, Managing Director, Deshdoot Media Group, India, opened the session, mentioning how Covid has opened up a new vertical – Gaming as the 4th medium!

    Added Abhinay Bhasin, Co-Chair, IAA YP India: ‘The increased proliferation of smartphones coupled with better internet connectivity and increased time spent on content consumption during the lockdown period has made the Gaming Industry in India thrive. From a mere 25 in 2010, the number of online development companies in India has risen to over 250 in 2021 focusing on platforms linked to online games and sports entertainment such as Dream11. This led to the curation by the IAA YP India chapter to bring about awareness and highlight the opportunities within advertising and brand-audience engagement through gaming’

     

     

  • IAA partners Deshdoot to promote short film festival highlighting civic sense

    The India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) will support Marathi daily Deshdoot, in launching and judging a pan India short film competition on the topic of ‘Civic Sense’. This competition is also accompanied by knowledge sessions on the final day of the screening. The Deshdoot Short Film competition is powered by Zee and International Advertising Association (IAA) and is being supported by Indian Documentary Producers’ Association (ADPA).

     

    Said Punit Goenka, President, IAA: “We are happy to support this initiative which aims to inculcate a sense of civic consciousness in the public. The IAA has always stepped up to play its role in anything that is good for societal change. That’s what being a responsible industry Association is all about.”

     

    Added Janak Sarda, MD – Deshdoot and Mancom Member, IAA: “As a prominent entity within the social fabric of the region, Deshdoot is also working on the creating awareness about civic sense among the people. Civic sense is the responsibility of living in communities, cities, towns and maintaining a dignified life for fellow beings as well as the nature around. The campaign run by Deshdoot has been received very well with lot of appreciation and the short film competition is a setup to further take forward this message to the society at large.”

     

     

  • IAA to felicitate Raj Nayak with ‘Champion Award’

    Viacom18 COO Raj Nayak is being felicitated at the global level. At the annual International Advertising Association (IAA) Inspire awards to be held at Bucharest next week (on October 2) with advertising and marketing leaders from all over the world in attendance, Nayak who is also a past president of IAA India,will be felicitated with the ‘Champion Award’. Nayak will be recognised for his excellence in leadership, vision and distinguished services of leaders in the IAA and his contributions to advancing the IAA and communications in the worldwide marketing communications industry.

    The IAA Inspire award will also recognise Janak Sarda, Joint Managing Director Deshdhoot Group of Publications with the Young Leader Award for excellence in contributing leadership and services in the IAA Young Professionals arena and creating dynamics in marketing communications.

    Speaking about the felicitation of Raj Nayak, IAA India Chapter President, Ramesh Narayan said: “I am really overjoyed to announce this news. Having worked closely in the IAA with Raj Nayak I have been a witness to his dynamism, his receptivity to ideas, and his capacity to contribute to anything that furthers the cause of marketing communications in India. He drove and launched the prestigious IAA “Lighting a Billion Lives Campaign” which set the tone to provide solar lighting in millions of dark homes across the country. He also played a major role in the rolling out and nurturing the prestigious IAA leadership Awards for marketing and business excellence which has grown enormously over the last six years. This award is an honor not just for Raj but also for the entire communications industry in the country.”

     

    On Janak Sarda receiving the award, Narayan added: “Janak Sarda has played a solid role in spreading the message of marketing and communications to the younger generation of professionals which he himself represents so well. His contribution is actually a sign of the larger role one can expect from him in the years to come. I wish him well.”

     

  • Janak Sarda will drive young professional engagement as Regional VP, IAA

    For some years now, Janak Sarda, Managing Director of the Nashik-based Deshdoot Media Group, publishers of Deshdoot, Sarwamat, Deshdoot Times and Nagar Times newspapers, has been playing an active and visible role in a few industry leadership bodies. At the India chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA), he has spearheaded various initiatives around youth engagement and now he has been appointed Sarda Area Vice President for India and Asia Pacific by the IAA. Four others have also been assigned similar regional responsibilities elsewhere in the globe.

     

    “The future of the IAA requires us to rethink and rebuild our membership starting with professionals new to our workforce,” said Felix Tataru, Chairman and World President of IAA. “Our local chapters have created some strong leaders who are at the forefront of creating unique experiences on the ground and we’re excited to have them shaping how to bring those best practices for learning, networking and events to the global stage. As a former VP of Young Professionals, I’m personally committed to helping this team succeed and have a direct impact on our overall leadership strategy.”

  • IAA hosts Advertising & The 5 Senses

    The International Advertising Association (IAA) India Chapter’s Young Turks Forum hosted Rajeev Raja, Founder & Soundsmith, BrandMusiq at the fourth session of the Advertising and The 5 Senses series, presented by MTV India.

     

    The ‘Advertising and The 5 Senses’ series highlights the importance of using all our five senses in advertising, as opposed to only visual (sight “print advertising”) or audio (sound “Radio”). The series presents sessions by industry experts with a background in each of the five senses – taste, sound, sight, smell and touch so the audience could learn about the nuances of these senses as they relate to communication and together add immense value. This initiative is led by Janak Sarda, Management Committee Member of IAA.

     

    As part of session on ‘Sound’, Raja demonstrated the power of sound in advertising. Creator of the concept of ‘Mogo’ or musical logo, Raja shared examples of how sound has the ability to evoke images, emotions and even trigger memories and therefore stressed on the need to create a sonic identity which reflects the emotion of the brand.

     

  • Neeraj Roy elected President of IAA India

    The India Chapter of International Advertising Association has elected Neeraj Roy, Managing Director and CEO, Hungama Digital Media as its President. Monica Tata, COO – BTVi, was elected as Vice President and Pradeep Dwivedi, former CMO of the Dainik Bhaskar group, is the new Secretary. Jaideep Gandhi, Chairman, Jaya Advertising, has been elected as the Treasurer.

     

    In addition, Ashok Venkatramani, CEO, MCCS India (ABP News), Janak Sarda, Director, Daily Deshdoot, Abhishek Karnani, Director, Indian National Press, Shreyams Kumar, Director, Mathrubhumi and Anand Sankeshwar, Managing Director, VRL Media Ltd have been elected as members of the Managing Committee.

     

    Speaking about the development Neeraj Roy said, “International Advertising Association in India over the past few years has played a key role in bringing the Media, Marketing and Advertising community together and I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to serve as President. On behalf of our new team and management committee we would like to thank Srinivasan K Swamy for his stellar leadership over the past few years and we look forward to serving the ever changing needs of the marketing and advertising fraternity as India is at the cusp of a digital transformation that will impact all aspects of life.”

     

    The first Managing Committee meeting conducted immediately after the AGM, coopted additional members as per IAA Constitution. They were: I Venkat, CEO – Eenadu, Ashish Bhasin, Chairman India & CEO – South East Asia, Director – Posterscope, Aegis Media Group.

     

    In addition, the following senior professionals were invited to be part of the Committee: Srinivasan K Swamy, Immediate Past President, IAA and Chairman RK Swamy BBDO, Kaushik Roy, President – Brand Strategy & Marketing Communication, Reliance Industries Ltd, Pradeep Guha, Managing Director – 9XMedia Pvt Ltd, Sam Balsara, Chairman & Managing Director – Madison Communications Pvt Ltd, Ramesh Narayan, Founder, Canco Advertising Pvt Ltd and Raj Nayak, Chief Executive Officer – Viacom 18 Media Pvt Ltd. More members are likely to be inducted in a few weeks.
